Lex coming full circle again

The last time Pete and Lex really saw each other 3 or 4 years ago, Lex was SAVING Pete from a beat down at the hands of the crooked cop, sent by Lionel. Now here, we are 4 years later, and Lex is now the one ordering Pete's beat down. Both times were related to Lionel and Lex demanding Pete spill his guts in relation to Clark's secret. It's interesting how Lex is really coming full circle with things this season. Being saved yet again in a submerged car by a Kryptonian; The Julian situation; and now basically taking on the role that Lionel had back in Season 3.

Yes. There really is no going back for Lex. He is a full fledged villain.

I agree. How did Lex know Pete had a thing for Chloe? Lex is really a chip off the old block. I remember when I first started watching SV how Lionel was soooo bad, I really understood how Lex would become so bad. Lionel was really scary!!:eek:

Yeah, Lionel was definitely scary! And I'm surprised Lex didn't mention this fact (that he saved Pete last time they were together) from Lionel's wrath. It seems the conversation was missing something like:

Lex: I'm not the bad guy here, Pete. I'm trying to get these answers that my father is hiding because he's the villain here. Don't you remember what he did to you before you left Smallville? Hmm? Don't you remember that I saved you?

Pete: Yeah, but now you're trying to use me, just like your old man did. I knew it all along. You're just as bad as he is.

<Lex looks sad for a moment, then smirks snarkily and continues>

The main reason I didn't like the beatdown Lex ordered against Pete is that now it's basically impossible that Pete would ever be his running mate (Vice President when Lex becomes President).

I wanted them to build this episode to make Pete realize the threat that Lex poses and work under the fabric to align himself with Lex so he can keep an eye on him and protect the world against him.

His last line about finding a way to be a hero would have been perfect had they set up a Lex-Pete "collaboration".

um, what does that have to do with anything? didn't you see him choking the daylights outa Lex? and then that other guy did something to him, so he lost his powers. it was part of the movement of the story---how else were they to get where they wanted to go with it? c'mon man, that is kinda stupid....(no offence)

He lost his powers when the gum fell out of his mouth. He should have swallowed the gum!
