Look , I love Pete as a character on the show and I believe his acting as an actor.
But I am not happy him being a freak of the week.
Why do the writers love the concept that kryptonite gives human's powers?
there are so many other plots that could be great with him coming back.
What about a simple plot that Pete's life is at stake for knowing clark's secret and Pete is coming to clark for help.
I don't know, I wish they stopped using kryptonite for a freak of the week long ago.
Why can't Clark solve a crime instead of fighting krypto-freaks.
There is more kryptonite in this Kansas town than Corn.

And since they haven't cleaned it all up, then it makes perfect sense for Meteor Freaks to continute to be created, so I am seeing no problems here. And considering Pete is the only member of the old gang that never had to have "powers" I think it's great to see what he does with them.

I was looking forward to Hero being a huge episode, then I found out it was the return of Pete and was less excited. Him having powers isn't my cup of tea either, but after seeing the clips I've seen so far, I think it's working out better than anticipated. I'd much rather the return of Pete with powers than beauty pageant burglars.

Aye, I would have rather he made his comeback without gaining powers from kryptonite. It's really overused and Pete deserves a better return, but oh well what's done is done I guess.

It's not the abilities they've decided to give Pete that alarms me, I'm just uber frightened that they won't do his character any justice. Some people here (like myself) have been pleading for the return of Pete, but now with the way THIS season has been going, including the departure of one of Smallville's rare and notable writers Steven Deknight, I'm just not sure if they'll know how to utilize Pete's character. There's so much potential in his return, especially if they want to go the "Pete being Lex's vice-president" angle like they did in the comics, an arc or reference that I've been dying to see on Smallville. But now with these new abilities, and from what I've heard, I ain't holding my breath. But hell, it's going to be a pleasure to see Pete back, even if it is going to be bitter sweet in a sense.

i don't see how dekingiht departure would affect pete's character. he joined the crew in season 4 when pete was already gone

I personally think Pete returning as kind of a FOTW, is a homage to the earlier seasons, in which Pete was present.
Though i'm not really keen on the idea myself, or happy by the way Pete seems bitter in the promos (though it is justifiable), i'm just waiting for the episode, and i'll see what i think then.
I just hope its not a wasted appearance.

Agreed. It's not perfect, but it could still turn out well.

Actually, I think that's what I'm anticipating most about this episode. It's the chance to see how Clark's secret can change people's lives for the worse...I suppose we saw that with Lana, but that had a different theme to it because of the angst of their relationship. But Pete's had a lot of time to brood on it, and it'd be good for Clark to see that he can have a negative effect, too. Not everyone adjusts as well as Chloe and Lana.

I'd like to see SV, move away from, the "meteor challenged" thing already......after 7 years, I figured they "peaked", with Chloe being one. I have a hard time believing, educated writers can't come up with something a little more creative, and maybe even something more orginial.........currently I am eagerly awaiting, to see Jimmy's, Lois's, Lex's, and Lionel's "abilities" revealed. Lana doesn't need one, seeing she's a clone, anyway. Even Shelby, is technically a meteor enchanced freak.
Martha is the lucky ONE, getting out of "Dodge", before "they" got her too.....feel like I'm talking about a Zombie movie.;)

Actually, I thought between Lionel and Lex gathering the meteor rocks for their experiments, and Bizarro sucking it all up, that it would be more scarce by now.

I am not thrilled that Pete is a FOTW either...I would have rather that he returned to hang out with his dad, whom I believe still lived in SV (his mom moved to Wichita), and while he was there, he got into trouble and Clark saved him. And then realized it was Pete. Or something like that. Pete could talk about how much has changed for Clark, and they could agree to keep in touch now that Pete was older and might be able to handle the secret better. They could have made the whole thing kind of humourous to show Pete trying to cover up for Clark to Chloe and Lana, only to find out that they already know Clarks secret. I dunno, something like that. Oh, well.

Not to be a smartass, but being a lifelong Kansas resident, not a lot of Kansas towns have much corn.

yeah it was cheap to treat him as a FOTW. Not only was he a FOTW but he didn't change one bit - not at all. He's still jealous of clark, still loves chloe, still wears tims... its like he was trapped in a cryogenic chamber for the last several seasons. sigh*

I would have liked to see that Pete had done something with his life.

I think that him becoming a FOTW was a good way for him to realize that he was at fault for the past four years like he said. It would have been better than another rehash of Wrath, Phoenix, Asylum, or Thirst except Pete's the one at the receiving end of Clark's powers.

Did they melt the Kryptonite or something in there?

Pete is really pathetic. Still jealous of Clark, still wants what he can't have in Chloe, still dresses the same. You would think this loser would have done something productive in the last several years.
