Does anyone know of any truth to the rumours that Joss whedon will be makeing a Slayer series based on Faith? That would be awesome!
They should also make a movie on the Slayers after Sunnydale.

eliza dushku.
In Dollhouse, Dushku plays a young woman named Echo, one of a group of men and women who can be neurally imprinted with "personality packages," encompassing things such as memory, muscle memory, skills, and language. Sheltered in a secret futuristic dormitory/laboratory named the "Dollhouse," these individuals are imprinted with customized personas for performing any of a wide variety of assignments, which can be romantic, adventurous, outlandish, illegal, etc. After completing an assignment, they are mind-wiped into a child-like state with no memories. The series follows Echo as she begins to develop a persistent memory and self-awareness across imprints and wipes.[4] Beyond Dushku's character, the show will also revolve around the people who run the mysterious "dollhouse" and two other "dolls," a man and woman who are friendly with Echo. Then there's the federal agent who has heard a rumor about the dolls, and is trying to investigate their existence.

Yeah, it doesn't sound like Faith spin-off is going to happen anytime soon. Though I am REALLY excited for Dollhouse.

I seem to recall Joss Whedon talking about the possibility of Faith spinoff way back when Buffy was ending, but nothing since then. And I imagine Angel ending prematurely did not encourage Joss to think about doing a new series in the Buffyverse.
This new series with Eliza Dushku sounds interesting enough to check out once it comes out. But I am not sure if that series is going to fly or not. Sounds a bit out there. I will reserve my judgment until I see it though.
I could not get into Firefly, Joss's last series. I know that is blasphemy to hear for some, but I just couldn't.

I, personally, wouldn't watch a show based on Faith in the Buffyverse...I think what they did with her character in Buffy and Angel was perfect...

I would be curious to see how it would be but other than a different character I really don't see how the show could be any different from Buffy. Faith being a slayer on a motorcycle going across the nation would be cool though...

Are you just musing or are you basing that on what you heard of the original idea for what the spinoff would have been like? Because I remember reading about that exact concept being tossed around by Joss Whedon. I think he mentioned it in an interview once. That was a long time ago though.
The idea sort of reminds me of Wesley's first appearance on Angel, where he classified himself as a "rogue demon hunter". If I remember correctly he was riding around a motorcycle with a leather jacket on, and tracking demons across country since being ousted from the Watcher's Council.

I think it was Tim Minear who had the idea for a "Faith the Vampire Slayer" spin-off after Buffy ended -- he pitched the idea to Eliza Dushku, and she turned him down. In interviews she's said that she loves Faith, but that she felt that it was time for her to move on in her career (she went on to make Tru Calling), and as far as I know there are no hard feelings on either side.
Here is a BBC article on the subject (http://www.bbc.co.uk/cult/news/buffy/2003/04/14/3812.shtml).

Based on what I heard. It would be cool to see it but I think Eliza Dushku is wise not to dwell on the character.

I agree. Faith is one of my favourite characters, and I was a little bit heartbroken to hear that this wasn't going to be made -- but I think Eliza Dushku made the right choice for herself and her career. She's a talented actress, and I'm glad I've had the chance to see her in other roles.

I agree. Unfortunately, Tru Calling did not work for her. Truth be told, I couldn't really get into the show. I watched the entire first season and tried to watch the second season, but I was just not feeling it, and I tried really hard to like it. But I wasn't broken up when it got canceled, especially after they introduced Jason Priestley as anti-Tru character, which sounded way too reminiscent of the evil leaper from Quantum Leap lol
Dollhouse sounds like it is going to be quite a challenge for her as an actress and should be interesting to check it out. I am skeptical whether the concept of the show will work, but I will wait and see. Hopefully it will.

I loved Tru Calling by the end, but I would have dropped it before the midpoint of the first series if Eliza Dushku hadn't been in it. The writing started to get very interesting towards the end of the first series and into the second, and having read one of the writers' takes on where (http://tightropegirl.livejournal.com/8190.html) it might have gone (http://tightropegirl.livejournal.com/8396.html) afterwards and the mythology of the show I am disappointed it was cancelled.
I agree that Dollhouse will be a challenge for Dushku. I think she'll be able to step up to the plate and deliver, and I look forward to that aspect of the show. Like you, I'm so-so on the premise, but we'll see how it all pans out.

I would have loved it if they had made a Faith series, but Dollhouse is beginning to sound like it could be interesting. Especially with Amy Acker now as part of the cast.
