I really think the only reason Clark asked Lana to stay is because he's afraid to be alone. I mean...he just came from Chloe and Loise's place...and Lois poured her heart out to him about being unable to live the double life style. He starts thinking "hmm....well, Lana knows about my double life, and she's still with me." So when he gets home he completely disreguards the fact that he no longer has any romantic feelings toward Lana and asks her to stay. It seems our future superman would rather stay in a loveless relationship then be on his own. Now, if Lana stays as a friend...that understandable, and honorable of Clark to try and salvage their relationship. But i have a feeling they werent talking about building a friendship. Thats why Clark "doesnt know about the future." He cant just let it all go....no matter how much he wants someone to share his life with.

One can argue but then why doesn't he hook up with Chloe? Oh I forgot, he's afraid to lose her in general thus why he stole Lex's blond sidekick and gave her to Ollie

Strangly enough...Chloe probably means too much to him to actually be with her. As dumb as that sounds.. I wish he would realize he can have something amazing with Chloe, but right now he seems content in stringing Lana along. I do feel slightly bad for her at this point. It's obvious Clark doesnt feel that way about her anymore...and to have it continue and get Lana's hopes up is just wrong.

I found it really sad that Clark tried to save the relationship right when she going to leave. Like he expects her to stay forever or something. When things get rough and awkward he blames Lana. Then when she finally gives in he panics and was close to begging her to stay. Insecure is an understatement.

He did look like he was panicking when he saw her bags. Poor Clark always wants to do the right thing, even if that means sacrificing his own happiness. At this point they are both just delusional. Lana is really going to make an effort to be a better person, because she thinks that will salvidge their relationship...and Clark will try to forget the whole Bizzaro thing. It's like a soap opra! Clark...go be with Chloe, she knows about your double life...and you actually enjoy being around her. And Lana...go run Isis...and do your thing. Simple. I think neither of them want to admitt that even knowing Clarks secret, and trying to be open and honest, they still dont work.
