I think Kristin has good potential after seeing 'Partiton' and being convinced BUT..
Why does she feel the need to roll her eyes in order to make herself cry? I mean, you could clearly SEE her trying to make herself cry. Looked very foced, IMO.

I love Kristin Kreuk...she was great in Partition...but i just loathe her depiction of Lana!

making yourself cry is actually really hard. it's a skill one must master from infancy and hone well into adulthood.

crocodile tears, seems she can cry on command,, and with very little emotion to show for them.lol

She does look like she forced it, but she does have all the emotion in the scene down. It's better than seeing her talk in a monotone-like voice when she's supposed to be sad.

I just hate seeing and actor/actress trying to cry. And Kristin was blatently doing so. Rolling, shifting her eyes so hard in order to produce tears when that's not even neccessary to show that your sad or hurt.
Hopefully, she works on bettering that aspect of her acting because it doesn't look well on-screen.

In her defense....crying on cue cant be easy. But I agree...I just didnt believe her...not like Erica at least. I think Kristin is like us, she is just fed up with the character of Lana as well. So it would be hard to portray a real emotion for a character you cant stand. Tom had no problem portraying the anger part, you could almost tell he's been waiting for Clark to man up and say what he needs to say.

Really? You saw that she was trying to cry? Did anyone really watch the show? I thought she did a great job of tearing up it was not supposed to be a cry it was supposed to be tearing. I roll my eyes sometimes when I tear up, and no I dont do it purposely so I look like I am crying TEARING UP.

Lana's crying scene had nothing compared to Lois's crying scene

Lana had a crying scene? KK must've really done poorly if I couldn't even tell that she was crying or trying to cry.

Well, I'd have problems crying too if my character was so awfully written, I could barely say the lines

I believe her crying when your eyes turn red and watery you can tell she wasn't try to make herself cry.

She's cried in the show before. sometimes it's great, and sometimes it's cheesy.
I remember when whitney went missing in action and when he died. She cried both times, and it was really believable.

All three ladies are having trouble with crying IMO. It always looks forced and stupid. I don't think I've ever seen good crying scene in Smallville.

Same.
I think she was so believable!!!

I have to disagree. The single tear that Dean Cain shed when his love died. That was a great crying scene. It was incredibly believable.
As for all the others, they've had their bad and their acceptable. I think crying on command is one of the hardest things for actors/actresses to master.

Crying on cue isn't hard at all. It actually starts in your nose. You feel a little twitch and then your eyes water...

If the script said that "Lana had to try to cry", then she did a good job, otherwise...

I agree it's one of the hardest things to master but I think that none of Smallville actors is really great at it.
I disregarded guest stars in my post. Dean Cain has far more experience with acting than younger actors on Smallville.

Yeah, Kristin Kreuk is beautiful and I like her very much, but I think she's gotten to the point where she's as fed up with Lana as the rest of us! I also agree that Lana's "crying" scene doesn't hold a candle to Lois' scene.

Erica did an amazing job...and Allison is usually quite good. I think even Kristin is usually ok, I agree with someone else. I bet she is so fed up with the character of Lana and how pathetic she is getting...she has a hard time portraying her?

That could be very true. I think Erica did very well because she was portraying a very upsetting moment, one that I think she can probably understand. She did an excellent job with as well, because it was heart breaking. She made ME cry.
Though to be fair to KK, I wasn't really sure she was supposed be trying to cry in that scene where Clark let her have it. I thought she was supposed be portraying Lana getting mad and defensive.

I thought Erica did a fantastic job in this episode and her tears were believable. With one or two rare exceptions, Allison always does a terrific job as well. But Kristin is very hit and miss when it comes to expressing tears, and sometimes it feels very forced and at other times it comes across as genuine.
Allison once spoke about the process of finding the emotional place necessary to express sadness when she commented on how she needed to stand and quietly hold Tom's hand for a moment before a particularly emotional scene. I think we often fail to realize just how difficult it is for the actors and actresses to produce consistent characterizations and believable emotions week and week.

um, did you NOT watch "vengeance"? When Clark cries at the end of that episode, it's heart breaking. It made me cry, and I usually don't cry during shows/movies. That was probably the believable crying I have ever seen an actor do, which i was surprised b/c it came from tom. don't get me wrong, I love tom, I love him I love him, but he's not the greatest actor ever. He's good at he what he does, but he had tried to cry in the show before, and he failed miserably. But that scene on vengeance, omigosh, gets me every time.

Kristin is a great cryer, she looks very real. I think she rolls her eyes to Clark just to show her pain to him.

Yes, and what makes this particularly challenging for some actors is those complex shoots with various camera angles, where you constantly have to attain that emotional high in between takes.

I think the point of the scene was Lana starts to cry, but tries to hold it back. It didn't look like KK was forcing tears - it looked like she was starting to cry, but rolled her eyes and moved them around to stop the tears from coming out.
KK is one of the best on-cue criers I have EVER seen.
I loved her crying scene in "Static". The scene was stupid, but her crying was amazing. It wasn't "TV crying". In real life, people are ugly when they cry. KK looked ugly when she cried in that episode. She did really well.
