What is this? What are they doing to Lionel Luthor's character? I understand that they're trying to make a good transaction from being a sociopathic murderer to a saint walker but c'mon, I was really hoping Grant Gabriel's death would bring out a partiality of his MB qualities. But what does he do? HE GOES RUNNING TO LANA LANG, OF ALL PEOPLE, FOR HELP??? Is this the writer's foolish attempts on once again placing the scope on MS. LANG???? Are you kidding? The real MB would've solved this on his own, exact SOME form of revenge or punishment, why is he going to this useless, worthless woman?
Whoa, ok, I need a breather. I'm just saying that the writers continuously try to create more significance around Lana Lang's character, and they do this by DESTROYING THE OTHERS!!! GRRRRRRR!!!!
The Luthors usually have others do their dirty work for them.

I definitely thought it was weird/stupid that Lionel went to lana instead of taking care of it himself. Even when he is "good" he still has that old lionel in him,and he knows how to take care of stuff himself.

Yes, Luthors always use proxies. When have you ever seen one Do something like this themselves. Much easier to make an alaby (sp?) when you aren't the one committing the crime.

You see I don't have a problem with the Luthors using others to do their dirty work. That's not where the problem lies, but to think that of all people LIONEL request help from Lana, as if she's the ONLY one capable of bringing Lex down is ridiculous. There are many avenues Lionel can take against his son. I don't care what he acts like or how good he is, the man is STILL Lionel Luthor. We've seen traces of his MB qualities leak out of his character even during seasons 4-5 when he was considered mostly a good man.
Look how he pointed Chloe Sullivan to BrainIAC? OUT-WITTING THE BRAIN INTERACTIVE CONTRUCT, look how he protected (arguably) Clark's secret when he shot Jason Tegue as he was explaining to Lex what part Clark played on the stones, and what about how he PROTECTED the Kents from Griff? C'mon, he KILLED Griff to protect the KENTS in season 5? Thisis a man with the wit and resources to take care of the Lex problem, with more people at his beck and call that he could utilize THAN LANA. Season 6, as much as I hate to admit, worked when Lionel manipulated Lana because at the time Lana was the closest thing to Lex and the only person probable enough to pierce his iron heart. Lionel used Lex's blind love (Or extreme infatuation?) for Lana in order to keep a closer eye on Lex's projects. THIS IS NOT THE CASE NOW. Of course Lex still feels a certain amount of remorse but I seriously doubt he'd trust the woman.
The point I'm trying to make is simply, IMHO, they've shown that Lionel is capable of utilizing far more capable people than.....LANA LANG. I mean geezz, why not even Clark Kent? Why not Chloe Sullivan? Has he even told the two? With Chloe's ties to the DP and Oliver Queen, though Lionel might still hold a bit of resentment for Oliver, Chloe would've been a better choice than Lana, and I STILL wouldn't be 100% content with that decision. Lionel really needs to tap into his MB qualities before he dies off, which HE WILL, period, and of course this is all a matter of opinion.

KryptonStones,
I totally see where you're coming from. But to me, it makes logical sense that Lionel would use Lana for this because: 1.) she has the videos on Lex, which is the best source of information he can get his hands on, because it's just Lex doing whatever Lex does, unaware that the camera is recording him, and 2.) Lana has a weakness, which is Clark, and Lionel knows that if Lana doesn't do what he says, he can exploit that and blackmail her. That is the way Lionel works. He still seemed like the MB to me, although he seemed a bit off-his-game because he still seemed to be suffering the emotional sting of seeing Julian die in front of him (and to know inside that it was Lex just is the icing on the cake!)
