This thread is for the discussion of TV ratings for Siren after the episode airs, when they are available.

I'm hoping "Siren can at least hit 4 million viewers since it has GA and BC, but it'll be tough since there's quite a bit of competition and the CW didn't air a promo after last week's episode.

Last week there was James Marsters...

And this week there's Oliver Queen, which I know is good enough reason for a lot of girls to tune in haha. Plus the addition of the Black Canary, I hope this week got some good ratings!

Not sure how many girls knew about Oliver returning, though. They didn't release the trailer after the episode, and he was barely in it. I think they'll stay about the same as last week, which is good enough for me considering the strike.

They showed that 10-second GA promo quite a bit starting Monday, but nobody's watching the CW to see it (so far, the most watched show this week is OTH at 2.86 million viewers). :\

And here's some more bad news for the CW I just came across:

SmackDown Leaves CW (http://www.thefutoncritic.com/news.aspx?id=20080207wwe01)

Along w/ ANTM and SV, SmackDown makes up the "Top 3" at the CW.

So w/ SmackDown leaving this year and SV next year, the CW will probably not be here w/in the next 3 years unless they come up w/ some new hits.

Overnight ratings are in.

The CW’s Smallville (3.2/5) - Gemini, the last episode I found overnights for, had a (3.0/5).

Fast National Ratings will be out at 12 ET.

I'm glad SV went up from the previous two new episodes, but I'm still hoping it can go up a bit in the final nationals.

And OUCH for SPN! While its lead-in went up by 160K viewers from last week, it dropped by 280K. :\

nice, hopefully with finals, it can get over 4

Great news. Now if Fracture can break that 4.0 barrier we'll be back in business (with only 3 episode left )

Smallville (Viewers: 3.97 million; A18-49: 1.8/ 5).

I think these are type of viewers we need to get renewed, we stay in the 3million, we are getting renewed. I am a happy camper.

Jimmy, has SV ever been BELOW 3 Mill???

Anyways, I think it's gonna be interesting to see if they can get back above 4 Mill.

I think the series low is 3.43 million for "Prototype", but if I'm wrong somebody please correct me.

Even if it can't get above 4 mill this season, I'm sure it'll be back to high 4's, low 5's next season.

I believe it could go either way.

Working in it's favor, there was a trailer for it last night (which "Siren" didn't have) and there's depleted competition (Lost encores will continue to fall, Survivor will fall as it's not a premiere, and AYSTAFG? will be pre-empted for the NAACP Image Awards, which did under 4 mill last year). But the bad part is that that there are no promotable guest characters to promote.

Not surprising that the ratings were up. Mythology/DC comics/characters episodes always bring the ratings, and the trailer was pretty damn good too.

Finals are in the 4's, awesome! With next week's episode looking so intense, I don't see how they can not go even further up.

Season 8 here we come! :) Now that Smackdown is leaving, it is safe to say that Smallville, along with ANTM, is anchoring their network and they better start treating this show right! When Smallville's over, The CW will sink for sure...

Unless they do the smart thing and go with one of the many Spinoffs the show has been given the possibility of in the past (Supergirl/Kara, Flash/Bart, Aquaman(not the SV version), Justice League, etc.)

It surprises me that "Gemini" one of the best episodes of the season has the lowest rating so far... I guess it was due to when it aired though. It aired by itself with no episodes sandwiched before or after it.

That would be the smart thing to do. Unfortunately, smart and the CW don't really go too well together (at least w/ Dopestroff in charge). :\

Hopefully, they'll do a lot of promoting for "Hero" even though it's about a month away from Thursday episode. With someone as big as Pete Ross (Sam Jones III) returning, they'd better hype it up...And add a nice promo poster too. :p

Ratings up, WGA strike apparently over. Things are starting to look up. Bring on 5 more S7 episodes and Season 8!! :D

i am glad to see that they are back over 4 mil viewers. with the green arrow back and a "new" d.c. hero making an appearance which is usually a ratings boost was luckily enough to overcome the lack of a promo after the previous episode and the general malaise of the viewing public due to the strike and lack of new episodes to be honest was thinking the worst but iam glad i was wrong

That's absolutely correct. An ANTM spinoff won't do them any good!

Love to see them pick up a JL or GA & BC spinoff. Perhaps even a Supergirl, but that would be hard to do without having Superman around and that won't happen.

JL would be my first choice; Green Arrow & Black Canary a close second.

That may draw back some older fans but Sam Jones III isn't exactly a household name that would be a big draw so don't hold your breath. I am not trying to be argumentative but I just wonder how do shows like SV draw past viewers back? You could say advertising but if many people are like me, SV is about the only show they watch on CW so running a bunch of ads hyping SJ3's return will go unseen by those who may have departed. It seems they would have to go outside of the network to hype it - TV Guide, newspapers, some well-placed billboards in major metro areas???

I'd love to see SV top 5 M viewers again sometime during the remainder of the season and it just might. It will ensure a final season 8. In fact, I think they'd be crazy not to renew it since it's the only drama people are watching at the CW.

They could try advertising on some cable nets like MTV, SciFi, and ABC Family, although I wouldn't hold my breath for that one either. Some of the o&o's should get some spots on the radio; and, like you said, some magazine ads could work.

Same here. There is no other show on the CW that I watch. Will be good to see Pete return, but he doesn't really seem to be Lana's type. Suspect they won't be getting together just yet. Too bad. I'd like to see her get on with her life. Usually, new episodes of SV are recommended in the local newspaper. But that's about all the SV hype going on in my neck of the woods.
