I am sorry to say , I have never ever seen one episode of Doctor who.
What is a good series to start with?
Are any of the series on netflix?
If you had a friend and he never saw any doctor who, what would you show him first.
Thanks for your help.

Personally I would start with Season 1 of the new series (with Christopher Eccleston as The Doctor and Billie Piper as Rose). You may or may not like the old series, but either way it's an easier introduction into the universe to start with the new series. And I'd watch all of it (Seasons 1-3 + specials) before you even try to watch any of the old stuff.

I happen to absolutely love this series.
Father's Day was a classic time travel episode.
Loved it.
Thanks

Ok I'm old school. Sure the new series is good. But if I were to sit down with you and show you some good stories (of course effects are not so good) I'd start you with Tom Baker the 4th Doctor, though he is not my favorite he is the most pleasing to begin with.

Yay! Now duck before the nu-schoolers come on ;)

I watched Dr. Who the way MidgardDragon suggested and I loved it. I would like to watch the older versions also but... it's so overwhelming. Maybe I'll try Doctor 4 next.
