Missed opportunities in Persona

I think it was a big mistake for TPTB to have downplayed Clark's entrapment as just some sort of punishment and have him be released on a "whim". They had an opportunity to build a huge plan and missed it. It makes no sense why Bizarro & Brainiac didn't work together to kill Clark. Brainiac should be smart enough to know that Clark can kill him.

They showed the FOS being all dark inside in Gemini making it seem like Jor-El was deactivated. This was their chance to tie everything together:

1. They should have explained that Bizarro was waiting for Clark in the FOS and triggered an intruder containment mechanism once Clark showed up at the end of Blue.

2. They should have explained Bizarro's search for Brainiac as one where he would find & revive him so he can get that black crystal from Solitude back so he could destroy the FOS with a frozen Clark inside it. This should have been the master plan of the rest of the season. The Martian Manhunter should have been the one to release Clark and delay Bizarro's & Brainiac's plan.

3. They should have also explained Bizarro's phantom as being the failed experiment of Zor-El to tie Bizarro's phantom to the unethical experiments of Zor-El. This would have given a reason for the eclipse rather than simply to freeze Earth (which would also hurt Zor-El), which is what Zod wanted to do. By explaining Bizarro's phantom as a subject of Zor-El's experiments, Bizarro would have been shown to be Zor-El's intended partner to rule Earth and someone who couldn't be stopped since the sun was being blocked.

This was very disappointing. They killed off a great villian in Bizarro and ruined any possibility of having him team up with Brainiac for a great season plot. They built up a great cliffhanger ending in Gemini and made us ponder at all the possibilities of what would happen while Clark was trapped and who would be the one to free him just to have a cop out resolution.
