I just had to share this: Today when I was getting gas, I locked my keys in my car, with my purse inside where I have an extra key. I went into the store at the gas station and asked if someone could get my car open. The clerk talked to another employee who said he had a coat hanger and a sledge hammer: I said bring both. This guy tried valiantly, after warning me that he might ruin the door seal. I said okay, cause what was I gonna do, push the car down the highway? Anyhow, just after he got the coat hanger in there a guy with a tow truck pulled into the lot and my helper asked him if he could get the car open. The tow truck guy brought the proper equipment and had the car open in about five seconds. I had $10 in each pocket and handed each guy his tip with a Merry Christmas. It's the best $20 I've ever spent and I thank God, Fate and anybody else who's listening for those two being where they were today.

Got a Saved Me story? Share, please!

My boyfriend and I were at a take-out food place the other day, and when we paid, the cashier gave us an extra $5 as change. I've been a cashier before so I know that (depending where you work), if you're missing like 5-10 dollars out of your till, they will take it out of your pay. I told the cashier she gave us $5 too much change and gave it back to her. She was very grateful.

I don't mean to "ring my own bell" or whatever - hopefully sharing this will help others to do the same. :) It's only 5 bucks but I wouldn't want her to lose it out of her pay because of a silly mistake. Those places overwork student employees anyway (that's another story for another time  )

This isn't my own good deed, but the good deed of someone else... a good deed that was actually rather refreshing to see. My friend and I travelled into town yesterday for a spot of after XMAS sale shopping. On the bus on the way into town was a young mother who was attempting to juggle her ill son, a pram and a load of grocercies. When the bus pulled up at her stop, a teenage girl at the stop noticed this woman struggling to get everything off the bus (the bus driver clearly looked irritated). The teenager carried the pram off the bus and then helped the mother put the child into the pram and load the groceries into the carry basket. I was impressed by her kindness - not only did she beat everyone else to, but she refused the compliments of several elderly passengers when she boarded the bus, explaining that she hoped anyone would do such a thing for her if she were ever in a similiar situation. Good on her - there's modesty to admire.
