I think Erica did an awesome job in this episode. Much like she does in every episode but I was so glad she got alot more screen time in this episode. Finally a really good Lois episode we have been waiting for all season. It was really nice to see Lois back in action. She really showed that she cared about Chloe and would stop at nothing to try and save her. I'm really sick of Lois getting the incompetent wrap. She really gets alot of slack even when she tries to do the right thing.
Yeah Lois did get dumped by Grant and Lex now owns the Planet. So what! She isn't going to crawl into a corner and sulk about it. This will make Lois stronger and that is why Lois is Lois. I think Erica does a really great job with Lois and I can't wait to see Lois continue to grow and develop in future episodes. This episode is a testament of how Lois has grown so far since she arrived in Smallville and how she will continue to grow from here on out.

I completely agree. She made this episode amazing.

ITA. Episodes like this just remind me again why Lois has always been one of the highlights of the show for me.
Erica gives a truly amazing performance in Gemini, I couldn't ask for a better actress to play this character. She made me honestly feel Lois' own desperation and fear to save Chloe's life, there are two particular scenes which stand out to me.
One is when Adrian asked her, "You celebrate Christmas, Lane?" and she replied in this totally broken voice, "Yeah." And the other is when Adrian told her to look inside the briefcase, and her expression of panic when she found out it's actually a gun.
I also like that scene when she was utterly horrified when Adrian murdered the UPS guy ("You killed him!"). Like someone else pointed out, no collateral damage for Lois Lane.

She made me proud.
Frankly, I was getting tired of the writers' treatment of her character in "Blue" and so this was the first Erica-starring episode that I was not psyched about on her account. But the treatment was great this time, even with zero Clois, lol.
Vintage Lane! Deep in trouble, full of desperate schemes, speaking back to the villains, some action, and sticking up for the little guy. Loved it, loved it, loved it! It was also our first Lois Lane DP episode that was not dedicated to the Grois. She was there being a reporter, despite the kiss fest intro. I also like that Grant Gabriel aka Julian is not a bad guy; his story is rather sad and since their relationship is now ended I can sigh deeply and not look back.
My favorite moment from a comicgeek standpoint was when Lex told her he bought the Daily Planet. Her reaction was great and the moment is sooooooooo iconic from the comics since yes Lex does buy the DP and Lois does resist and survive, by some whim of his own perhaps, but also due to her resilience and grit. Anyway, I think this is also SVLois' big opportunity at redemption. She came into DP thanks to Grant's favor but now she's no darling of the boss; instead, she's a marked woman who's going to have to launch her career right from under Lex's inimical nose.
Note: Coming into this episode the most Lois-centric ones I'd consider were "Crusade", "Hydro" and "Arrow". Now, this episode is clearly the most Lois-centered yet! It took 3 seasons but Lois has finally gotten a chunk of the action. :)

I think its just a prelude of good things to come for Lois and to expand more Erica skills.
She was FANTASTIC on this epsiode..not doubt about it.

She is definitely in line for an Academy Award, maybe next week, just due to Gemini and her impossibly awesome acting.

I thought it was a good storyline for Lois but I didn't think Erica did anything spectacular in regards to her acting. It was okay. Nothing great.
I still think her acting especially when she had to do the heavy emotional stuff, to be rather wooden.
That said, she's better in the comedic scenes.

Well, for someone who hasn't been in the business as long as Kristin -- she certainly caught on much faster than she has in terms of time length.
And Kristin had experience from 'Edgemont' yet her acting was terrible in the first few seasons.

Kristin was in Edgemont for 1 season before she got Smallville. She had no prior acting experience before then.
And Erica had some experience before Smallville. I think she did some B list Horror movies and also guest starring roles in those sci fi tv shows also.

I thougth Kristin's acting after the first season of Smallville improved dramatically. Check her scene with Clark in the loft scene of Skinwalker or the end scene of Visage. Amazing.
Kristin can make emotional scenes look easy.
Erica, on the hand, tries too hard to cry and it just ends up looking awkward.

And try the scene outside the barn in 'Hypnotic' when Kristin gave that horrible crying 'breakdown' performance after throwing herself soap-opera-style into a pole.
Horrible.
Kristin thinks that whispering EVERYTHING makes the better.
Come on.
She even did this with the ending Clark and Lana scene of last season's season finale!
Why was she whispering?

Exactly.
Kristin had done a full season of work... Erica had done... what two short appearences in a movie and tv series?
Erica came in a little hard but she caught on quickly.
Took Kristin a few seasons.

She doesn't always whisper. And I'd like to see ED try any emotional scene that Kristin has done in this show and see how well she does.

Please. Edgemont has like 10 shows a season. It's a cheap show done in a studio. It's a soap opera for teenagers. Nothing about that show requires any challenging acting. They probably do 1 or 2 takes at the most because the budget is so limited.
Took Kristin a few seasons.
It didn't take Kristin a few seasons to improve. She got her groove on after season 1.
Like I said before, KK is the most versatile actress on the show. She can play any character and do it well.

Your right.
She whispers a vast majority of the time -- the other times she just makes that chimpmunk face.

Your making my point evident for me.
She had more experience than Erica on their starts of the series.

Yes, she can play difference variations of whispering Lana quite well.

I never see the chipmunk face. I love how haters call Kristin that. She's gorgeous.

Who cares?

You spew the same crap that all haters say about Kristin. She whispers, she makes chipmunk faces. All crap.
And if I think long enough I bet I can name an animal that closely resembles each and every cast member of this show.

Why is this turning into an actress bashing thread instead? Not to mention breaking the rules. Kristin is a lovely person, where do people come from calling her all those names I'd never understand. It's just plain ugly and distasteful when people start making fun of the cast members' looks and appearances.

This was a good episode for Lois. Perhaps more of the Lois we know shining through.

Erica was fabulous in this episode! She is a young Lois Lane personified in my book. Lois is not Lana, and is not as forthcoming with her emotions. Kristin does her portrayal of Lana well. You see the emotions in her giant eyes before it spills into tears. By the same token, you can see the raw emotion in Erica's Lois (if you bother to pay attention) and see her visually struggling to hold in her feelings. Her determination to hide her vulnerability is very clear, and I am flabbergasted that anyone could be so blind to Erica's accomplished ability at projecting such a very Lois trait into her character. It's not hard for me to see the Iconic Lois Lane in her. She feels deeply, but not obviously. And I would just die if Lois Lane started bawling and flinging herself onto poles. Ugh!! Now, that depiction of Lois Lane would never work in any form for me!

Each actress has her own strenghs and weaknesses, and while I don't want to bash anyone, sometimes I think Lana could play Alvins' girlfriend in the new Chipmonk movie with ease.
I am just happy to get an episode that let ED Lois shine.Over all her acting has improved over the seasons,
given her limited appearances.

ED definitely shined as an actress in this episode. I'm glad to see the writers are finally giving Lois a new plot (it looks like she's gonna be feuding with Lex, I can't wait to see how that plays out).
ED is definitely an ideal actress to play young Lois Lane. And personally, I think she's infinitely better at playing Lois than Kate Bosworth.

Completely agree with you. It was nice to see Lois in her natural habit and finally the writers hit it dead on. I too can't wait to see how the feud plays out.

I definitely agree, Tom really did do a good job this week. I really had to stand up for Erica this week. I've been really sick and tired of people putting her down alot particulary since she arrived to Smallville, so I finally cracked.

:D Very true all that.
Lois already steals the show when she appears on screen., but this one was her time to shine, Al and Miles should give her all the episodes, or at least making more Lois episodes like this., I watched this episode because of her., I don´t care a damn a thing of Clark nów heps still with that evil lying b**ch, so please let me know when he finally breaks up with her for coming back to see a Clark full scene.:D

I don't blame you in the least, svtwamedfan05. It's amazing to me how anyone could refuse to acknowledge Erica's beauty and growing aptitude for her part. She has made it her own, and I have no problem seeing the fledgling start of our Iconic Lois Lane in her performances. I don't let the bashers bother me. I rarely acknowledge those few people who diss her so badly. All I get from their posts is that they must not have much love for who the Iconic Lois Lane is and what she stands for. She is a hero with her very own personality and all the highs and lows entailed with being human. For myself, I have known who Lois Lane is and what she is supposed to represent before Smallville was ever born. But I really like the representation of our young Lois's backstory on Smallville. The writers have done a great job so far, and I can't wait to see her on screen again as she matures into the Lois Lane that I know and love. Another actress might have done ok in the part, but, for me, it's too late. Erica Durance is Smallville's Lois Lane. End of story.

I agree with that. Soldiers and Tomboys don't cry. That's what her father sold her on. It makes it all that more heart-breaking for me when she does cry. Lois wouldn't be Lois if she easily started bawling. She has this excellent' feeling like crying but trying hard not to' look that I love.
I liked her a lot in this episode. One place where I think the acting could have been improved was when the UPS guy got killed and she got knocked over by the weight of his dead body. Her face wasn't the quite the horror I would expect, but she got it together quick afterwards with her disbelief as to what lengths Adrian would go with her 'You KILLED him!' line.
I'm really looking forward to Lexis cat and mouse.

Yeah, I thought ED was fantastic in this episode. First of all, it was awesome to finally get an episode full of Lois scenes! And she looked gorgeous. And her scenes were intense throughout the episode.

Definitely right about that. When I look at ED I really think "Lois Lane", but when I saw Kate, I just thought "Kate Bosworth".
Anyway, Erica was terrific in this episode, IMO. I like that they brought out a bit more of her emotions here. However she handled everything very well.
