You mean like in "Commencement," when she promised herself she'd NEVER go into journalism because with her luck she'd end up across the desk with the most bumbling reporter?
Sorry, but this mirrored exactly that. It was an anvil.
And I'm not the least bit surprised that you'd say that because Chloisers manage to twist the most obvious things into Chlois again and again, doesn't make sense.

That was definitely a Clois anvil. Makes sense why she falls for Superman and is hands off Clark at first.

Actually she said to martha that first episode in Season 4 "Give me a geek in glasses any day"
So i dunno....
Considering the show has done everything in their power to show this ISN'T Lois Lane, so an ANTI-Clois anvil fits...
But i am not one of those rude people so,
Cloisers I hope you enjoy the hint, you deserve something...

Some twist one way others twist another and it's anyones guess who is twisting the right way.

Remind me again. Chlois are Chloe and Lois slashers? Because they're cousins, and that's wrong. (in most states)

No, Chloisers are people who think that Chloe will be the true Lois Lane of the show :rotfl:

That's exactly what I thought the first time I browsed Krypton Site's forums....I thought omg...look some people are shipping Chloe/Lois.

Who gives a damn about anvils anyway? Clois happens. I don't care if it ever happens on Smallville or not, but it's a reality.
And Chloe/Lois slash ship is called Chlolo.

I think the anvils can be cute, and this one was nicely done and subtle. Still, I think I'd rather we get a few more Clois scenes so I could actually picture them together in some future, rather then relying on the mythos in other media. IMO

So that does exist? Yeah, I don't even wanna know what else is out there. Internet fandom is crazy.

Exactly. It's ironic foreshadowing. This was nice because it was subtle which TPTB don't do nearly enough. I don't need to be smacked over the head all of the time with these anvils.

Wow! I'm glad someone finally knows how to use that word properly. Props to you!
Most of the time when people say irony, it's usually allegory.

Definitely a clois anvil. Besides, I've always thought that this whole Grois angle would serve as some sort of foundation/backstory on why Future!Lois would be so against a relationship with Future!Clark when they eventually work together in the DP.
In LnC, it was that Claude guy who traumatized Lois and made her anti-office romance. In SV, I guess it would be the Grois :\

I have to ask why you would say that? Because she hasn't got it all together and isn't a star reporter at this point? The only way your statement makes sense is if you add "yet" to the end of it. None of them are who they're going to end up as. Jimmy isn't, Lex (while getting there) isn't, and Clark sure as HELL isn't. Why is Lois any different? There's no reason to believe that she won't get there someday.
Anyway, I liked the scene a lot. I have a fondness for Clois foreshadowing. :D

Isn't Lois Lane? You call being named Lois Lane, having a father in the military named Sam Lane, a sister named Lucy and working at the Daily Planet not Lois Lane? Stop grasping at straws.

Ummm...actually the term "chlo-lo" is used by fans of the cousin dynamic. There is nothing remotely slashy about it.

I just wish Clois doesn't sound exactly the same like the crackpot theory of Chlois. But I do know for a fact there's a poster on this site who stubbornly refers to the cousins' relationship as Chlois. :D *waves to Triple L*

Smallville is trying to show us a reason why Lois isn't going to immediately fall into a relationship with Clark once he comes to the Daily Planet. Even though she does not want to have a office relationship in the future with Clark that does not mean she doesn't like him or has feelings for Clark. So in the future in order to hide her feelings about Clark she masks it in sarcasim and let's herself fall in love with Superman. Once Clark finally reveals to Lois that he is in fact Superman, Lois finally admits she had always felt something for the real Clark Kent. So definitely this was an Clois anvil nothing anti about it

Chlolo, not Chlo-Lo, is the ship. Chlo-Lo is the cousinship. Chlois is the theory.

When Grant dumped Lois and then said something about whoever she dates next being a lucky guy, then she says
"Well where ever he is, we sure as hell aren't going to work together."
KLONK! I felt like Wile E. Coyote when I heard that spout of dialogue.

Well Clark already said it before (it was just in Jimmy's head, but still) in Noir when he remarked about getting involved in a relationship. "Rule number one. Never get mixed up with a girl, not when you're on the job."

I didn't even notice the anvil, was too busy collecting evidence of Bizarro Clark!
Was one of the better ones, a bit more subtle than "I had a nightmare- it was this guy wearing a red cape. Really scary." I really hated that.

I love the anvils! That's part of my enjoyment of the show, hearing clues/hints/humourous foreshadowing. With a show like this, where we already know where the characters end up, it's nice to not always be in denial about their futures (Clois Haters). How can you be against Clark Kent and Lois Lane being together anyways?? I can see not liking SMALLVILLE's Lois being with SV's Clark, but if you are a real Superman fan, then I don't see how you can't like LL and CK together in the future.

And you know, I'm probably going to get labeled a Clois shipper for saying that, but you know, it's really the way it is. I hate the Clark and Lois on Smallville, but Clark and Lois end up together, regardless of it being Smallville or not.
But yeah, it is time for Chlois to die. It was stupid from the start.

:D thatīs true, like Iīve always said, Clark never has been in love with Chloe, and his feelings about lana are just idealized, thatīs what it seemed in "wrhat" when he started to look at her diferentely, now thatīs going to change, īcause sheīs not the innocent and harmless girl she was for him.
and like at the end of the season, perhaps we see finally the beggining of the Clois love.:D

It's not a Theory anvil, it's not an anti-Clois anvil. Seriously, after how many times they've done ironic anvils you should be able to recognize yet another when it is so glaringly obvious.
I like little hints, but these 'ironic anvils' are getting annoying. We all know what's going to happen and to have a few ironic anvils would be fine but not all the time.
FYI for those that don't know, an 'ironic anvil' is an anvil that is said to be a cute opposite of what is actually going to happen. Like Lex saying that himself Clark would always be friends. Clark saying he doesn't want to have a job where he wears a suit and flies. Lois saying she won't be working with the guy who she finally gets through a relationship with is in the same vein as those.
