Awesome line. Lex is becoming the maniac he's supposed to be.

It seems like he did clone Julian using a technique based on what he learned from Evan. And he used what Kevin Grady's father did to Kevin in Blank to give him the memories. I was right!!

This reminded me of how Lionel called the Emily Dinsmore clone a poor approximation. But they actually showed Lex killing this clone.

I knew when I saw that guy that it would turn out to be an older version of Grant/Julian. Man, they chose a great actor to pull that off. He literally looked like an older version of Michael Cassidy. They even seemed to be the same height.

Lex was at his best. I loved julian/grant/clone#?'s line when he said "You created something to love but you don't know how to love..' something like that. Kinda similat to what lana told lex after he tracked her down.

I'm no genius or scientist or whatever, but how does one "download memories" into a clone? Is their brain a computer or memory chips??

I can just see that playing out quite comically... clone!Julian is in Lex's study and they are talking about the past, and clone!Julian says "I don't remember that." Lex says, "let me jog your memory" while hitting a button or two on his laptop. Clone!Julian acts as if something suddenly makes sense, "ahh, now I remember!". Lex just smiles evilly.

Well, it's a TV show. And it's also continuity. If you watch Blank, you will see Kevin Grady having false memories of him killing his own brother implanted in his brain by his father at Summerholt. Lex obviously stole that technology.

In reality, under hypnosis, thougths, ideas can be planted into your mind. I guess it could be taken to the extreme, by when these 'clones' were growing, in a catatonic like state, things could be told to them and their brains soaked up what was told, especially if they had no memory/history. What seemed too much was the memories were very exact and not vague. In real life, if it could be done, you would need an incredible amount of time to rehash/makeup a life so specific with memories. Even if you go with the chip theory, you would need someone with a great imagination and time to create a whole life for someone.

Now I know it was a dying clone but did this count as Lex's first out-and-out murder? Last season during the wedding was more manslaughter.

I totally loved that line, Lex, and MR's acting, it was so emotional, so desperate for not to showing it, just great, one of the best scenes in the whole ep :D

Uuuurm, no, punching someone in the face until they die is generally considered muder. It just wasn't premeditated murder.

Lex is cerainly becoming quirkier.

The brain is essentially nature's ultimate computer system. Everything you've ever done, experienced, witnessed, tasted, touched, etc, is actually stored in your brain for life. However, most people just simply can't recall memories that don't have some factor in them that sets them apart.

It is plausible you could download someone a whole memory, and personality, we just aren't there yet.

I agree. It makes me love him & hate him at the same time.
I think I even sat back & said, "Whoa! when he did that.

I totally love it. :D

Is Grant's office soundproof or what? Why aren't the hordes of reporters out there come crashing down the door when the gunshot rang out? Too busy partying?

It wasn't a gun i dont think, it hardly made a bang and there was no blood. Maybe it was a dart gun or an instant kill taser?

I'm pretty sure it was the gun that Lois had, though I don't know if it had bullets, darts, or what.

Except the blows to the guys face weren’t what killed him. The blow to the base of the skull when he fell backward and slammed his head on the marble crypt was the fatal blow, and that was not intentional on Lex’s part. Lex’s assault and battery were intentional, but not the doctor’s death.

But I agree, Lex is definitely beginning to lose his oh-so-cherished self-control and starting to slip over the edge of madness (again?).

Of course that was on dark material... hey anyone know the color of the carpet in Grant's office? Given how violent the world of Smallville is you'd think people would start picking out blood-stain-brown.

In "Persona", Lillian Luthor will "return", so I guess it will deal with Lex and his dark side, I'm looking forward to see what happens :D

I'm thinking Grant's office is probably the eagle's nest of the DP. Not many people hanging out there normally, maybe a secretary or two and a few others. And they would more than likely be at the Christmas party several floors below. And more involved with trying to figure out why various and sundry items suddenly up and flew onto the floor in front of them.:)

Well actually, I was thinking that maybe Lex just stole memories from someone in 33.1 and somehow implanted/uploaded them to Adrian and Grant's brains. Who knows? Maybe he took different memories from different 33.1 inmates and picked the bits and pieces he liked to create a totally new set of experiences, then just added in the part about being a journalist, and voila! Instant little brother!

I'd rather not ask how you found that out....:p ;)

Lex has had some of the best lines this season and that was one of them. :D I also liked the "Are you a savior or a warning" line from "Fierce". Didn't make much sense since a savior would be warning you about something to save you from or a warning is an attempt to save you, but MR delivered it well.

The whole conversation between Grant and Lex was great.

Do you think that Lex cloned Grant from his baby brother Julian's DNA? As in, he went to Julian's grave and took the DNA from that little body?

Not really in my opinion. I think that Lex got control of one of the blood samples that was taken when Julian was first born in a hospital and used that to begin his cloning operation.

But that's just me.

Yup, he dug the grave personally.

Yup, he dug the grave personally.

Or do you think that he already had DNA? Think about it. Lionel starting cloning Emily Dinsmore and tried to perfect cloning. What if Lionel already had a sample of Julian's DNA somewhere in a Luthorcorp lab and Lex found out about it? Lionel never got the chance to clone him since he lost Luthorcorp and became "good". But Lex on the other hand inherited everything his father worked on and was fortunate enough to have the Evan (from Ageless) scenario happen where he learned everything he needed to about aging a human body so that he was later able to use it after creating a perfect clone of Julian.

It's starting to make sense. Lionel prior to turning a new leaf was sick enough to clone and replace Julian. Lionel in a season 4 episode (maybe Lucy) told Lex that he realized that what he was once after would have never satisfied him even if he did get it. He was talking about the stones, but it could easily apply to cloning Julian.
