Paul Reubens (who is now 55 years old) has been talking about his two Pee-Wee Herman scripts for years now and according to MTV News (http://www.mtv.com), he's still very much hopeful that they will happen and he wants long-time friend Johnny Depp to play the role of Pee-Wee Herman should he not be able to.

The first film would be based on his show Pee-Wee's Playhouse. Says Reubens, "This [film] takes place out of the playhouse. I think there are one or two scenes in the playhouse in the beginning. Basically it's all in a fantasy land. It's like a 'Wizard of Oz,' H.R. Pufnstuf epic adventure story." The story would bring back all of the original characters from the playhouse both live-action and puppets.

The second, more darker film, would focus on Pee-Wee's rise to fame and fall from grace, though he says it's not autobiographical. "It's basically the story of Pee-Wee Herman becoming famous as a singer," he explained. "He has a hit single and gets brought out to Hollywood to make musical movies, kind of like they did with Elvis. It all kind of goes downhill from there for Pee-wee. He turns into a monster. He does everything wrong and becomes a big jerk."

But perhaps the most surprising comment is that Reubens wants friend Johnny Depp to play Pee-Wee Herman, to which the actor replied, "Let me think about it." Reubens insists to the site, however, that he still wants to play the character.

Hahahaha...I don't think theres a chance these movies will ever get made. Then again, hollywood is full of completely incompetent morons, so maybe it is possible. I couldn't help but chuckle a little when he was on Pushing Daisies playing a deranged, perverted, death obsessed sewer worker.

I just CANNOT picture Johnny doing that, even if Tim Burton does come onboard for a sequel.

I mean really, could you see Johnny saying "I know you are but what am I?" :rotfl:

Actually, yeah, Depp is a nutjob. The stranger the character, the more he'd like it. Were it ever to happen, he'd probably do it.

I just can't even though he has a knack for the strange character.

Maybe because I'm so used to Reubens that I just can't picture anyone else as PeeWee.

Let us just pray they won't even try to make the movies, that way we can all be happy....you for not having to see Depp as Pee Wee, and me for there being no Pee Wee movies period. :)

I didn't want Johnny Depp or Tim Burton associated with Sweeny Todd-- and look how that turned out!
