With all the attention going to blood being able to bring people back from death, it would have made more sense for someone to have somehow beheaded Nathan. At least that would have had the shock value I think that scene was aiming for.

Unfortunately, there is no more magic blood. Sylar stole the last syringe. That is why Mohinder thought of Nikki when he noticed it was missing. There is no more cure. That means Nathan is dead, unless someone goes back in time to prevent it....but I think it was the writer's method for unleashing Peter as a hero.

I was thinking that Nathan still had Adam's blood running through him? Its not like it cycled out or maybe it did. I guess I kinda thought that once exposed to the blood - especially how Nathan was - directly - then it would be in his system to help heal him. Even if it works more slowly now.
