Well, also, if I had a gun on me and wasn't like Claire, I'd be scared too.

True. Monica's reflexes are fast, but I don't think they're faster than a speeding bullet.

Although what I'm wondering is why didn't Micah disable the getaway van in the first place. He had a chance when the gangsters were in the house, just in case they found Monica (which they did).

I guess We have LDH(little dumb heroes) in heroes just like smallville has the BDA(big dumb alien).

Try to keep in mind these are still children. Granted, they can do amazing things, but inside, they are still just kids.

...She should've downloaded something more useful then
just climbing up walls. At least enough to knock those creeps out.
Something, anything!

I could almost like her if she was less...predicatable, I guess
is a good word.
(I guess her power is growing on me a little.)

One day all the Heroes will be prepared to take on more comic-booky roles and actually be superheroes, but yeah, they are all just kids right now. No one is sure what's going on with their powers totally.

I know the future in "Five Years Gone" is gone, but essentially where Peter and Hiro said it's been a while since they'd had a good fight shows they do get to a point where they fight.

And by repeatedly saving the world and changing possible futures, they're learning what it is to be a Hero and learning to defend the defenseless.

Give me a freakin break. You're saying she didn't watch some Bruce Lee movies????!!! That's just poor planning. And from what we've seen so far this season, she's supposed to have her head on straight. Then again, she pretty much threw that out the window when she showed up in the wild magnolia with 12-year-old kid from the sticks...

All the kung fu in the world wont save you from several gunshots at point blank range

I'm sorry, maybe I'm mistaken. Is this RL? NO, IT'S NOT. It's at least imagineable that she could have fallen on them and given them the slip.

Which is exactly the point...this show thrives on plausibility and being as realistic as possible. You have a teen age girl who just discovered a few days ago that she is a freak, doing something crazy that she knows she should not be doing and is caught and facing down the barrels of several big guys' guns. She reacted realistically and was scared to death. She froze and surrendered just like 99 percent of people in her situation would have. She's not a super hero. Shes a kid who basically tied a towel around her neck and was playing superhero and got in way over her head.

A burger flipper who has some extra fancy DNA ;)
She didn't even know why Clark Kent wears glasses, thus no idea how to be a hero.

Also, she can mimic the actions, and not special effects like in the classic Kung-Fu movies.
If they ever have her do some "Matrix" move, that would be the shark circling.

I don't care how many Bruce Lee movies she'd watched. She had a gun to her. What would you do? Kung-fu action them to death? You'd have a whole clip in you before you'd get to say, "kiyah."

Gun to my head = me crappin' my pants!

Micah's gonna' run back & get Nikki, and she'll go apesh*t on the thugs. That ought to be fun to see. :D

Except for the one small thing your forgetting about Nikki. She's got the virus, she's powerless now. No super strength.

Sadly, it just made me hate Micha that much more...for the first time since he was introduced I could actually tolerate having to watch him b/c they primarily shared scenes. She was shaping up as an interesting character, with cool powers, and a personality to boot. Virtually the polar opposite if his fake cutesy, stale acting annoyingness. Here's hoping that either Monica rebounds from her beatdown and takes care of business or Nikki somehow goes Jessica on everyones @ss and that Micah is one of the two Heroes that doesn't survive the faux finale...

Micah most likely didn't disable the van because he didn't want to get shot; and/or there was no onboard computer for him to influence. (He can't control simpler machines. )

Mello Penelo
11-29-2007, 08:54 PM
If the van is an automatic, which I'm assuming it is because most vans are, then he could have influenced the computer.

The lamp post he "talked to" was a very simple machine.

From what I know not sure if i'm correct, he didn't turn off one lamp post he turned off a whole set, and they are connected to the computers within the city, so he didn't actually tell the lamp post he told the computer system that operated the lamp posts to shut down, not sure if he could do that with a car though.

The car has an on-board computer. Even if all it does it regulate fuel quantities.

I'm a car girl. :p Even cars back as early as the 70s have rudimentary computers in them.

By simple machine I meant (even though its technically not the same) stuff without electricity.

Thanks for the van infor Mello Penello. He must've just been scared then.
