Was that the disc to the caves that allowed for Clark to get to the FOS? Isnt that how he got there? I wish that wed be able to see it again, possibly using CGI green screen since they tore down the set to build the FOS set.

Man..I miss those caves so much....why did they tear it down? I ALWAYS expected Lex and Clark's FINAL scene on the show to be in those caves..it'll probably take place on the bridge though......or maybe I'm putting too much faith on the SV writers....

I imagine the final shot of the series will be Clark flying away in front of either the Daily Planet or the Fortress of Solitude. Well probably, if the strike dosent end soon, the final episode of the series will be the 15th epispde of this season, way to go "Smallville" writers... yea...

How do you know they tore down the caves?
That's depressing..

So, what was the key for again, if he doesn't go to the cave. I think the blue crystal transported him there.

well they didnt get rid of all of the cave set, i think they left the teleporter room and all that and used the rest of the room from the set for the fos. That is what they said back in season 5 when they brought in the fos. I dont know if it is still true or not.

It was said before that since the FOS set is so big, they had to tear down the cave set, but im not sure if any of it is left though, but i hope so. The key was for teh cave to teleport him to the FOS. The blue crystal couldnt of transfered him to the FOS when the crystal was in the FOS.

I miss the caves too - be great if they brought them back or at least incorporated something of them into the FOS..... but then again I guess that would be continuity and SV isn't strong on that some times. But one can hope :)

oh, that's right. but since when does he keep the key in a book? I thought he kept it in a rag in the tool box. haha..

BTW THIS IS POST 200 FOR ME, YAY!

Considering when season 4 wrapped, Craig posted an interview from Al/Miles saying they tore down the Torch set for the Daily Planet basement and the caves for the Fortress (and had a lot to do with Bryan Singer), I'd say it isn't misinformation.

So are we all agreed that Clark did use the key to transport himself to the FOS from the caves?

How else would he have got to the FOS then? I don't think Kara's blue crystal got him there as that was already at the FOS.

Well, from what we saw in season 5, part of the cave scene was kept. The part with the table, so Clark could transport to the FOS.

That's the only possible explanation it seems, either that or with Chloe's Yaris... :)

I agree with that.

I had brain fart when Chloe said "here's your book" all of a sudden and there was the disc.

Then they're at the fortress, to me that's the logical explanation.

Off-topic...my Yaris would beat Chloe's.

:D :D

Ardiem3, yes and I completely agree. I would have liked to have seen the old set.

They used the caves with that disc. I'm thinking the writers are assuming we are smart enough to catch that and don't have to tell us that.

^that's what I thought.....I just hoped Chloe would go too, but I suppose without Clark's powers, he couldn't risk it.

I listened to one of their interviews about it, and they had said the show's Daily Planet basement took the Torch's place as far as it's purpose on the show, not physically took it's place. It's much bigger, roomier (Allison even commented on how much more area there was for blocking, how she was able to move all over the place) I assume they meant the same thing about the cave being replaced with the FOS, (not physically replaced, but it's use on the show was substituted with it) but of course I could be wrong. :\

(It doesn't appear to me that the FOS set itself is very large at all, though it gives us the illusion of being so. It actually looks considerably smaller than the caves IMO)

I promise I'm not trying to argue with you, but the interview said they tore them down to make room for the two new sets. They are bigger than the previous sets, but it's filmed on a sound stage, which is just a big room with the sets free-standing inside. So there's just less free space to walk around in on the sound stage.

Actually, he could have used some backup. Powers are irrelevant if you're fighting a kryptonian and you've got a hunk of green kryptonite on you. Chloe could have done a real number on Zod while Clark was chatting with Lara about the crystal.

They are coming back for an 8th season no matter what

They probably will. But the point is, it hasn't been confirmed yet. There's a possibility it won't. Also, there's a chance The CW will go under because of the strike.

i think they will go under because of the strike. mostly all of the shows are sitcoms while they have a few reality shows and reality shows dont hold up a network, especially one as small as the cw.

Back on topic, I, too, miss the caves, they have always been a fascinating part of the show. But any set that's been torn down could be rebuilt. If it warrants it in the show why not rebuild them for a major finale?

Of course the finale I envision has Clark in full costume face to face with Chloe, ,looks at her, kisses her passionately, and without a word streaks up into the sky....

oh that is just too horrible to think about :( it would be a shame for a great series that has lasted 7 years to end before it was supposed to, there is no way they have episode 15 of this season as a good series finale, I am sure it will be a good season finale though

I'm not sure of any such thing. Smallville's season premiers/finales have always been very strong. That's one thing the show does pretty well. Taking what is basically a random episode and saying, "This is where we'll end the season," and having it hold up against such episodes as Tempest, Covenant, Commencement, or even Phantom, seems very unlikely.

I'll say this: I'm confident it won't be an absolutely terrible place to end the season. If it turns out to be a good season finale, I'll be a bit surprised. If it ends up being an abysmal season finale, I won't be.

Hate to be so gloomy!! I just don't see much silver lining for the fans regarding the strike. It seems to be all bad, from this point of view (I'm not saying it's a bad thing on its merits... nor am I defending it either). A friend of mine said he'll take the opportunity to watch the TV shows on DVD he's missed over the years, haha. I guess that's the only real silver lining I can think of... and it's faint.
