- The CW put together a very good trailer for "Blue," and they actually showed Helen Slater in it. I don't know why it's so hard for them to say her name or the reason that she's guesting, though.
- The reaction to "Wrath" was sort of mixed, but I think it was more positive than negative.
I'm hoping for at least 4.9 million viewers.

I also think the trailer for "Blue" is a good one, cause it mentions Clark's roots and shows his Mother. Wonder why they didn't say HS name and her connection.
Oh yah, It's the CW:lol:
I'm thinking 4.75mil. hoping for 5mil.!

4.9 million would be acceptable, just please don't let it fall again for another great episode.

I just notice from the board traffic, I don't think it will be a great rating.
I just can tell how much traffic on the board equates to ratings. I am not saying this board is the center of the universe, but trust me , board traffic on thursday night is a good indicator of ratings.

the Overnight Ratings are in:
CW’s Smallville (3.2/ 5)
I haven't checked, but I believe these are the lowest overnight ratings of the season.

It almost seems like a case of bad timing all the way around in that people tune in for the worst episodes and then, thinking Smallville sux, they don't tune in again until another bad episode comes around. They must wonder why this show lasted so long. Too bad the writing can't be as good as this one's every episode.

...and Smallville on the CW (Viewers: #5, 4.49 million; A18-49: #5, 1.9/5). Edit: Oops, didn't see your post.
...and the CW's Supernatural (Viewers: #5, 2.89 million; A18-49: #5, 1.2/3. At least this wasn't the least watched episode of the season, and SV usually goes up in the finals, so it could be over 4.5 million. :\
I liked the trailer, but maybe people thought it would be a clips show. They should have done a better job promoting all the action and teased the huge twist.

Maybe people just don't like Lara. I must admit I didn't watch last night's episode either.

You (and me by the way since I'm spanish) don't see any comercials during the show, and the CW needs the money they get with the publicity to survive and get their profit. That's the reason why those ratings are important, those ratings are what the CW show to people to say "hey if you pay to get a promo during my TV show it will be watch by more than 4 millon people".

Did CW promote "Blue" very well? I haven't been paying much attention to it lately.
Expect the ratings for 7.09 to be even lower since it's stranded in December all by itself.

i saw a good amount of ads not only during cw programming, but during the day and night when they show syndication of reruns (like friends and raymond)
plus this was one of the better previews for an episode since they showed some stuff going on in the past like clark saving the little boy from either commencement or arrival, cant remember which one

I don't fricking get it why are less and less ppl every week and the episodes are better and better , this doesn't make ANY sense.

After seven years every series has a drastic drop in viewership.
I am fairly sure if you check the ratings for "Scrubs", viewership has drastically dropped for that one too.
I remember having "ER" as an appointment series at one time, but I lost interest in that about three seasons ago and haven't watched since.

"Blue" Finals
- 4.513 million viewers
- 2.8/4 HH

Positive is that SV improved over "Wrath's" A18-34 rating by one tenth of a point.

And it seems the larger population doesn't care about mythos as much as some of us... Sad.

I like the romance, it keeps the show grounded and makes it more personal, but I like the action and mythos more.

JUST above 4 million, thats ok, but could be better. The CW doesnt promote smallville well, and i also think some folks cant watch it on that night all the time.
THe CW needs to promote the show better thats all.

I have to say, even though I really love Smallville, and this last episode was pretty good, I wasn't all that excited to see it. I wasn't that excited about the episode Lara, or Kara either, but I probably wanted to see Kara, more than Lara. It turned out to better than I thought it would. But I'd still rather see Clark help Lois catch criminals or something.
Wow, this is getting confusing. The bottom line is.... I like to see episodes about Clark and how he deals with day to day life, and uses his powers in every day life, and save people...how he fits in on Earth, stops criminals and all that. It's not as exciting for me to see him go through all kinds of overly emotional Krptonian family stuff. I don't know if this is how other viewers feel. Just IMO.

You have a good point. Even though this is the story of Clark Kent before he becomes Superman, it should continue to focus on the things that affect young adults and the heritage and mythos stuff should be sparingly used. It should be about the decisions he makes and situations in which Clark finds himself that determine his movement toward his destiny. All the Kryptonian stuff is just a little too over the top, IMHO. The Kryptonian writing and artifacts are fine. But Judas Priest, we've now seen almost every member of Clark's kryptonian immediate and extended family. Get back to the story of the young man's journey and the impact he has on others and others on him that shape what he will become.

Ugly Betty and My Name is Earl/30Rock are kicking the **** out of Smallville. It was suicide for them to move it from Wednesday Night's to Thursdays.
It seems like they are just going threw the motions with this show. I won't be surprised if it doesn't come back next season.

SV's ratings are the same as they were last year when they brought it back. It's also the CW's #1 scripted program.
You can't expect it to do better than shows on the "Big Three."

Have all of the shows that have the Live+7 numbers been posted? That would give us a better ideal if the total was looking better.

Mythos, hmm, what is Superman mythos and this season?
Let's see:
Bizarro, Kara, Lara, Jor-El, Zor-El, the cape reference in action, the sun stuff and Martian Manhunter in Bizarro, Lois Lane at the Daily Planet. The list could go on and on, and you'll find that we have a large number of people willing and ready to disagree with you, even people who hated the (wonderful) second half of Season 6.
Ugly Betty and My Name is Earl/30Rock are kicking the **** out of Smallville. It was suicide for them to move it from Wednesday Night's to Thursdays.
Smallville, nor any other show on The CW, WILL NEVER compete with ABC, CBS, or NBC.
And when they moved Smallville to Thursday nights, there were headlines galore about Smallville showing renewed strength on it's new night, so no, the move was not suicide, it was probably the best move they ever made, timeslot wise.

Smallville is great compared to other shows on the CW. Gossip Girl premiered with 2.5 million viewers and that hasn't improved much. Frankly I'm surprised it got picked up for a whole season.
So if Smallville gets cancelled, it won't be because of ratings.

More than likely it will be because of Dawn Ostroff's completely irrational dislike of the show and the writer's strike. I don't think it will get cancelled, though. Even Dawn can't be dumb enough to throw away her best rated show.

She said the same thing about One Tree Hill. After last season's finale, the future of that show was up in the air, there have been countless articles written about her absolutely despising everything about it, and it got picked up for a 5th season.

I really want to know what that woman did to manage to get such a powerful position in the network. She makes horrible decisions and seems to prefer programming aimed at 12 year old girls. I miss The WB.

Exactly. The CW Network is aware of that, I'm sure, and has always been aware of that. That's why they consider any show's ratings above 4 million+ as a sign that it's doing great. Personally, they should've picked up Mercy Reef, Everwood, and Reba (not that I enjoyed Reba, but it was their strongest show on Fridays) instead of dumping them. If they did that, then maybe they'd actually have better numbers because all of those shows were, and could've been, so much better than the tripe they've filled their schedule with.
