I remember a scene from the Superman movies where Supes takes a large lump of coal in his hand and crushes it, transforming it into a diamond. This got me thinking...
Jonathon won't let Clark pursue sports (He says he is afraid Clark would hurt someone but I think we all know that he doesnt want Clark's secret getting out). And both of his parent certainly wont let him do anything illegal to obtain money, and God knows Jonathon wont EVER accept Lex's help...
So what if Clark could discover his little gift? I mean, Clark knows how strong he is, and he IS a good student, or so we are led to believe. Wouldn't he realize in Science class or something that he could go and buy a bag of coal for 25.99 and then make him and his parents the richest hick farmers ever? Maybe even more so than those Beverly Hillbillies. I think this would be a good plotline because I for one am tired of every three episodes they have Martha say "Jonathon we have a late bill." but then again lately it seems those are the only lines she is getting.
and how gay did Clark seem when he was gonna kiss Alicia goodnight? He got all scared and backed up and stuff. lol, if he was straight he would have seen the opportunity to tap that ass.
I also thought it was pretty funny when Jonathon walked into Clark's room. It makes me wonder how Clark can get any personal things done, you know what I mean? :rotfl:

yeah, clark is just to morally right to even think of doing something like that.
and another thing. clark isn't having sex on the show so you could just erase that out of your mind.

Tell me again who gave the Kents their farm back at the beginning of this season?

mostly because it would be to darn easy
Surely there must be bucket loads of legitimate ways for Clark to earn some good cash... he'd do a damn fast job at pretty much anything.
Think about it... "Kent Garage - It'll be done in a coffee break". The ideas are endless really.
One would just have to think of something very unique that wouldn't have people suspicious of the speed at which work would be done.
Then again the farm didn't do so great without Clark :\

Ouch, lol. Attack people much you guys? It was just an idea. *rolls eyes* No need to get the stake and firewood

No I don't think people were attacking and some have come up with some pretty good ideas. It's just that anything Clark might do for money using his abilities would arouse suspicion.

Celticleod is right, Saret, no one's attacking you. If you post a relevant question you should expect relevant answers including some criticism. That's all you're getting and it's not attacking.
As far as your question about Clark making a quick buck, it does seem to be crossing the moral line a little, don't you think?
If Clark decides to get rich quick by manufacturing diamonds, what would he do next when that got old? He's already stretched his moral standards a little, why not do a little Kal-style banking and rip-off an ATM. No one would get hurt and it would be a lot quicker than squeazing cole all day. -Insert crude jokes here-
Maybe when Lionel starts to question how the Kent's became overnight millionares, Clark could accidently lobotomize him with his heat vision (Think Justice Lords - JL: TAS)
Wouldn't it be safe to assume that since Clark has tried to get rich quick before and it backfired that he'd be afraid and only get money the old fashion way...strip teases for Lex?

I dont think its crossing the line, I mean you do what you have to do for your family to live.

But the Kents are getting by ok. Money may be tight, but their together and happy again. One way I could see Clark doing something nefarious to get extra income would be if Jonathon needed open heart surgery and the Kents Insurance wouldn't cover it.

i had thought about this as well, and i think it would be a great idea.
all he would have to do is squeeze about 5 or 6 pieces of coal, then bury the diamonds in the farms field. When jonathon goes and digs up the field for putting seeds down (or whatever farmers do) they can go "OH LOOK! Diamonds!" then they can sell the diamonds and live happily ever after..... intill the meteor freaks come along that is.

how is it illegal to make your own diamond?

Uh, okay, I'm not getting something here. Somebody posted that if Clark was to make his own diamonds then he might as well go out and rip off ATMs. How does that even compare? Clark would be making *real* diamonds. He's not making fake ones or anything like that so why not? And where does one get the idea that Clark's not allowed to find a way to make money since that makes him greedy and evil or something?

Thank you! Thank you! {revels in "seeing" that}
Actually, I consider Lex the dominant person and not a candidate for stripping for anyone.....
Clark, well, he's a bit obedient, isn't he? :o
Oh, forgot to write something on-topic {thinks fast}....
OK!: I think Jonathan would object to Clark using his powers for financial gain. As has been pointed out, this can be the 'slippery slope' toward decadence....(and other synonyms for ATM-abuse). This is not because there's anything wrong with the diamonds, per se, but because they weren't earned and it throws off-kilter the carefully-built value-system of the Kents.
Jonathan, like any 'salt of the earth'-kinda guy, has an incredibly strong work ethic, meaning one should earn benefits through hard work.
I agree the idea of paying for heart surgery with a Clark-diamond is a nice way of bringing this into play one time.

Okay, gotta make a point here. The line you're (mis)quoting is "The LOVE of money is the root of all evil." Greed leads to evil. Money in and of itself is not bad at all. Nothing personal, but there is a big difference.
BUT . . . I don't think it would occur to Clark to do this, or even that he COULD make diamonds. I mean, he's not at the height of his powers yet, and although I know he's strong, we're talking some serious power to do that. Plus, if you wanna get technical about it, there are two necessary parts of diamond formation: intense pressure and - time. It takes a while. Now, I know in the movies Supes did it easily, but he also repaired the Great Wall of China with his . . . wall-repairing vision. I guess that's what it would be called. Maybe his bricklayer vision? I dunno. Anyhoo, that would be too easy, and if things were easy, then I don't think you'd end up with a Superman so much as a divine emperor. Red K Clark, only all the time. Which would be cool from a fashion perspective, but kind of a drag for the future of mankind. Or slavekind, as it would eventually become.

i like the ....wall repairing vision.....thats funny
i left out the greed part of the quote becasue the kents arent greedy and it wouldnt have fit right.

Oh, yeah, I figured. I hope you didn't take that as some sort of insult, 'cause it wasn't. But I agree, the Kents are anything but greedy. I think that's part of it. Clark's powers have come so far so fast that it just hasn't crossed his mind. He is bad at adjusting, after all. I mean, look at his love life! Or love coma.

If Clark makes diamonds that will decrease the value of diamonds and they'll end up being worthless.

If I was Clark, I'd make diamonds all the time. A use the profits to supersped to exotic locations and chill out.
If I was Clark...sigh..

Jonathan Kent must not have been very good at running a farm. How could the farm not make lots of money when Clark can do the work of twenty hired hands?
Another thing, in a couple of episodes Clark uses wrenches. Why use wrenches when "finger tight" would break the bolt?
Why fix the tractor? Wait until it's dark then go out and plow the field by hand. It would get done quicker.

Like in Reckoning, Clark made a diamond with his hands. Still not sure how he fused the ring and diamond together(they showed the ring in his hand after) Clark could open up a diamond business. Forget becoming a reporter, he'd work less, and could still be Supes. If I were him, I would have robbed the cash registers from my school cafeteria. They took out so much, and raised prices way too much. And it has nothing to do with gas. They did it last school year, the prices of food are ridiculous. I would make like 50 diamonds a day. Anyone know about the price of that diamond in Reckoning? Just curious.

If Clark makes diamonds, it going to devalue the diamonds and they're going to become worthless. It's just like how printing too much money causes inflation.
