I guess in the heat of the moment he forgot that he could. You know it's like Clark on Smallville. There are times when he's faced with a villain and he forgets to use say heat vision or superspeed or whatever...

Maybe 1. These so called superheroes are not that smart or 2. It's a budget thing.

It was kind of too easy the way the Haitian caught up to Peter.

He was blocking Matts power in S1 from at least that distance, so I think its a pretty safe bet he was blocking ol Petes powers.

yes, but the haitian was closer than 50 m's to peter back in season one when he and hrg were trying to take peter down, and yet he was still able to stop time and fly away. could be argued he didnt want to block it at the time, but nathan also was able to fly away

one could argue that this suppression power of his can be fought to a degree (matt after straining himself to a degree with bloody nose was able to read hrg's mind). so i think thats why elle stopped peter when he really tried to concentrate on the cup, he could have discovered he still has his powers if he tries hard
