How was Elle able to use her zapping powers when the Hatian was right next to her ? When she zapped adam towards the End she told the Hatian to go after peter. When Peter was the same distance from the hatian he couldnt use his abiltiy.

Maybe I don't recall the particular scene, but I guess the haitian focusses on the person whose powers he wants to suppress, no? In this case that was not Elle, was it?

Thats pretty simple...it's pretty much the same reason Elle wasn't zapping the Haitian at the same time she was zapping Peter...come on, let that sink in a minute...he wasn't using his power on her, he was using it on Peter...ta da!

The Haitian can control his abilities and focus who he wants not to powerup, unlike "Leech" from the x-men which just subliminally diactivated powers

I agree, the Haitian doesn't "jam the frequency," by just being around a hero.
He has to concentrate on an individual, to temporarily disable their ability.

The haitian chooses who he blocks.
Remember the haitians powers are based on memory and the brain. Their powers come from the brain. So therefore the haitian must focus his canceling power. It's not just about being around him.

As we've seen in FYG he can selectively block abilities. (He block's Hiro's but not Matt's.)

If that were true then that would mean that he is able to sense other heroes around him and then selectively blocks powers. Any evidence of this ?

Yes, there is tons of evidence of his ability to selectively block powers, for instance everything we've said and the original scene you yourself mentioned. It's really not that complicated.

Or.............
Just remember that The Haitian wanted to help Peter so maybe he wasn't blocking him on purpose and wanted to give him a chance to escape - possibly the same way Nathan zoomed away from him and HRG in season one. But after Elle ordered him after Peter then he needed a plan B and that's when he decided to mindwipe him and leave him in that cargo box.

The haitian's power can work both in a radius and selectively if he wanted it two.

In one episode when Matt was spying on the Hatian from a distance without him know becuase he was hidding in a car the hatian blocked his power.

Which indicates the Haitian either a: knew Matt was spying on him, or b: was using his power in a radius because he knew Matt was present somewhere nearby and it wasn't worth the risk.

I'd think he defaults to radius just to be safe, but in certain circumstances removes individuals from the influence of that radius.
