View Full Version : Wait, how did Peter know...

...that he could phase? At that point, he hadn't done it before and he didn't know DL nor what he could do one bit. He clearly intentionally phased through the jail he and Adam were in. How did he know he could do that? In season 1 when an ability he didn't know he had manifested he was always shocked, yet here he clearly intentionally used an ability he had no way of knowing he had.

Hmm.. Perhaps an off-screen discovery? We didn't see the whole 4 months 24/7 although it would of been nice for the directors to show us Peter actually learning how to phase.

I thougt of that, but he was drugged the entire time making him powerless.

He knew DL's power was to phase. He got close enough, so he tried it.
Well, since Peter mentions that Adam is over 400 years old - I'm thinking they talked A LOT. So they might have talked about the people that Peter ran into and DL being one of them they thought 'hey, I bet you have that power to - try it out' - I mean - what else were they gonna do. I kinda thought they were gonna blow outta there crazy style lol. But I guess quietly is the best bet in that situation.
But you WOULD think that they'd have surveillance on them watching them - I mean.....seriously.

That makes a small amount of sense...if Linderman was responsible for 'breeding' DL and Nikki to get Micah, then clearly Adam should have known something about DL being that Linderman was his lackey...but damnit, that doesnt really work either as Adam was locked up for 30 yrs...hmmm
Well, Linderman was his buttboy - remember - so they must have been in some kinda contact.
I did want to know more about how DL and Nikki got paired up - but they just dropped the ball - too much whiney Nikki and not enough backstory - they should have done an ep like 'The Company Man' for DL and Nikki - so we could have seen more of the backstory. But it's too late now - her character is forever boring to me.

And further stray them from the main storyline?

Adam was NOT locked up for 30 years. He had been locked up around the same time Peter was (Four months ago, really.)
It's been 30 years since he joined (or founded) the Company.

Peter learned he had DL's phasing ability when he phased through the ropes the Irish crew tied him to that chair with.

I'm pretty sure Adam was locked up well before first season. I'll have to watch the episodes again though.

Which happened several weeks after he sprung himself and Adam from the prison.

I will get back to rewatching the episode, but I'm about 99.9 percent sure (partially due to spoilery info I know as well) that he said he was locked up for 30 yrs. He even said, after being there so long, once about 6 yrs ago he gave in to Elle's craziness and has been punished ever since.

Just rewatched it, exact words were, "this cure of theirs; they've been days away from perfecting it since I got here 30 years ago.", "I would keep my distance from that one; I caved in in a desperate moment 6 years ago and I'm still paying the price".
It could be seen as that he's been locked up for 30 years, and 6 years ago he tried to make out with Elle (who would've been 18) and got fried.
Or, he could've joined the Company 30 years ago and 6 years ago did something with Elle that forced them to lock him up.
Or, something different. I'm in favour of the first theory.

It could be as you say, but think of this.
Bob said the company was founded in 1977 (Four Months Later), and we also know this because of War Buddies (graphic novel), when Linderman and Petrelli met after the Vietnam war (which ended in 1975)
We also know that Adam was one of the Company founders, or at least first members.
Then, how come he did all of this and have Linderman as a disciple if he should have been locked up since 1977?
I think he was refering to the time he got to the company, but that he was locked up much later.
Besides, when Bob shows that news article to Nathan in 2x07, if you pause the picture you can read one of the lines that say "The last time Miami saw snow was in 2003..."
So we can assume that this article was published after 2003, which means that Adam had to be free at that time, giving orders to his supposed allies manipulating their use of their powers.
Here's a screencap of what I say: http://xs221.xs.to/xs221/07463/newsheroes.jpg
Anyway, this is just an extra justification, because maybe this article wasn't supposed to give details of anything, so maybe the text is random and doesn't really correspond to the true heroes timeline. That's why I give my full support to what I said first.
