I had the same problem when I bought Season 2 at Walmart and had to take it back. I made them open it for me at the return counter to make sure the second set wasn't scratched.

Luckily, i didn't have that problem with Season 3.. I opened it out in my car and held my breath to make sure because I didn't really wanna have to walk right back in there and exchange it, although I was prepared to.

The The Smallville Season 3 DVD is now available, and on the fifth disc you can find an easter egg featuring the Rosenclown himself, Michael Rosenbaum.

On the "easter egg" (which is what people call hidden stuff on a DVD) you can find a brief bit with Michael interviewing random members of the Smallville crew up in Vancouver.

Here's how you find it:

- Find where it says "Producing Smallville"
- Put your cursor right next to the word "Camera."
- Click right on your DVD remote's direction pad.
- You will see a Superman logo. Click on the logo. Enjoy!

MR only interviews one guy, the wardrobe guy. It's cute but rather pointless. He asks him if he's ever seen Tom Welling naked.

I just got the Season 3 DVD at Best Buy and have not had any problems so far. I was so disappointed in the lack of TW. No funny gag reel stuff was such a disappointment. I wonder how they pick stuff. I mean it was odd how there was nothing of him. I was so mad. Even if he didn't want to do the commentary (which I would have loved to hear his thoughts again) I still can't understand why he wasn't shown at all. Also did any one else get the feeling that the commentary with AM and JG was not connected to the Marshall comments. It almost seems as if they were edited in because they had no interaction what so ever with each other and repeated ideas and observations. It was odd.

All that said, I loved seeing the episodes again. So much more than when watching the season. Maybe because I skipped the ones that bored me, but I forgot how great some of the storylines and acting was. It has been such fun seeing it all again. There are always some episodes that are just so interesting and move the story along so much. I forgot so many of the little details and facts that we learned in S3. The Clark and Lex stuff was so great. I'm enjoying the DVD so much.

The one thing that I thought was really funny, was how they mentioned Tom stuffing his pants during the commentary for Memoria. It was either Gough or Millar, but one of them said that Tom helped himself out by using a small sock. Then the other said it was "all natural" and Rosenbaum said "The guy is Superman after all". I thought that was pretty funny.

Surely they could still include Tom in the gag reels even if he didn't participate in the commentaries. I thought he had wonderful insights last year and I'd love to hear him talk again. We see so little of him outside the small screen I'd like to hear him at least.

I found an online dvd review site and a review on Smallville season 3. here it is:

Young Clark Kent begins to learn more about his destiny in Season Three of Smallville, perhaps the best show on television (at least when The Sopranos and 24 are on hiatus) that nobody’s watching. While many fans consider Season Three the weakest of the bunch, I found that the shows flow nicely together in a back-to-back context – as opposed to watching them on a weekly basis. There’s a nice arc in play here, and I enjoyed watching Season Three of Smallville on DVD a lot more than my memories of watching it on television in the 2003-2004 TV season.

Season Three begins three months after the cliffhanger that ended Season Two – with Clark under the influence of Red Kryptonite, which doesn’t hurt him – but does bring out his darker side. Clark has left Smallville because he feels responsible for his mother’s miscarriage at the end of Season Two, and the first two episodes - Exile and Phoenix - deal with Clark’s coming to terms with what he has done and where he belongs.

Much like The X-Files and other sucessful science-fiction programs, Smallville has both “mythology” episodes and “stand-alone” shows, with the former moving along the overall story, and the latter tending to be more “fun” – generally focusing on someone in town who has a special ability or power that Clark has to deal with.

Season Three is also peppered with some great guest-starring roles for notable actors, including Rutger Hauer playing criminal mastermind Morgan Edge; Michael McKean (who happens to be the real-life husband of Smallville star Annette O’Toole) guest-starring as Perry White; and the return of Christopher Reeve as Dr. Swann in Legacy in what would sadly be Reeve’s final appearance on the show.

Perhaps more than any previous season, there’s a lot of context to the ongoing storyline in this third season, which may be why many fans (including some right here at DVD Talk) got so frustrated with some of the episodes. Because of the ongoing storyline involving Clark’s biological father, Jor-El (voiced by Terrance Stamp) and his connection to some mysterious caves in Smallville, the chant of “Another Cave Show” and “No More Caves!” became a frequent one on forums here and elsewhere on the Net.

But all in all, this is a quite satisfying season of one of the more underrated (and under appreciated) series on TV. Smallville is easily the best incarnation of the Superman legend since Christopher Reeve’s theatrical films, and any fan of The Man of Tomorrow will want to add this boxed set to their collection – assuming you’ve seen the first two seasons first, of course!

THE DVD

Video:
Each episode is presented in 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen, and the quality looks great. Colors are just slightly over-saturated, but this is intentional and the way the show has always looked on TV – a way to give a more “comic book” feel to the program. Unlike the Season One DVD, where I saw a few pixelation and compression problems in the print, no such defects exist here, and fans should be quite happy with what they see.

Audio:
Each episode is presented in 2.0 Dolby sound, which is not only adequate, but sounds quite good. The audio is quite active and aggressive and this proves to be one of the better sounding 2.0 tracks I have heard for a television program.

Extras:
Included on the DVD are three Episode Commentaries for the shows Exile, Truth and Memoria. Sadly, star Tom Welling – who was part of two commentaries on the Season Two boxed set – does not appear on any of the commentaries this time around. The good news is that two stars that were absent last time out – Allison Mack (Chloe Sullivan) and John Glover (Lionel Luthor) – join director James Marshall for the Truth track. Star Michael Rosenbaum (Lex Luthor), who was the best part of Season Two’s commentary tracks, joins Executive Producers Alfred Gough, Miles Millar, Greg Beeman and Ken Horton for the tracks for both Exile and Memoria.

Also spread across the DVDs are various Deleted Scenes for the episodes Exile, Slumber, Shattered, Velocity, Obsession, Resurrection, Crisis, Memoria, Talisman, and Forsaken. The makers of this set have wisely kept the deleted scenes on the disc with their respective episodes, rather than lump them all together on the final disc (a mistake I’ve seen more than a few TV show DVD releases do).

On Disc 5, viewers can check out Producing Smallville: The Heroes Behind The Camera, a 22-minute full-frame featurette that includes interview segments with both the cast and crew of Smallville.

Disc 6 includes the second volume (Vol. 1 is included on the Season Two boxed set) of The Chloe Chronicles, seven short segments that were created for the Smallville website and that star Allison Mack. It’s in this section that you’ll also get a look at the Interactive Comic Book that is advertised on the back box cover for this set – although it’s only “interactive” in the sense that you can page through it using your remote, much in the same way you would view a photo gallery.

Finally, Disc 6 also contains a 4 ½ minute Gag Reel, which I’m happy to report is presented in anamorphic widescreen. Although it’s the shortest bonus feature on this DVD, it’s also the most fun – and fans will want to make sure to check it out.

THE BOTTOM LINE

Entertaining, well-written, well-acted and featuring some impressive special effects, television programs don’t get much better than Smallville. While this may be the weakest season of the first three, it’s still better than most seasons of any hour drama that is currently on the air. This one’s an easy call: fly (don’t walk!) to your local store or online retailer and pick a copy up.

lol. I remember Erica commenting that he was Superman afterall too when filming the scene in Crusade where she introduces herself lol.

I just love the dvd quality though. There are some things I never noticed before, such as when the branded "8" is burning on Clark that it sometimes burn into an "S". It didnt twice once in the phone booth, and second in Phoenix when it goes off. I never noticed that before until now. It looks excellent :).

Umm, I dont know about you guys, but im kind of dissapointed with the xtras of the Season 3 dvd. First off, there is no commentary with TOm Welling. I know hes busy and he has trouble with it, but I would like SOMETHING about tom in the extras. An interview would be cool. But tom is no where to be found in the extras. Also, Tom isnt even in the gag reel!! Your telling me TOm didnt do ANYTHING silly or mess up any lines are anything? Please. The gag real was also a lot shorter than the one on season 2 and it was a lot funnier. Even the easter Egg is lame. I mean something hidden like that I would expect to be really really cool so when you find out about it it seems really neat. Kryptonsite has the easter egg listed as Michael interviewing random crew members, but there was only one interview with the Hair guy. I dont know, I just wish there was an equal role for all the members in the extras. it seems they feature certain ones every year.

I agree... the second season gag real was great! The third season was short and not even really that funny. I listened to the commentary for Exile... and the producers talked about Clark and Chole falling on each other during the heated agurement in Metropolis. If you remember Clark grabs her and pushes her back toward the door... THey said that the two of them tripped and fell on top of each other... that would have been great for the Gag real

This belongs in the DVD discussion thread.

I'm just amazed how great the show looks and sounds. The picture and sound quality is really amazing.. it looks like a film, not a TV show. Considering it's just been six months since "Covenant" aired and the whole season is already on DVD, I think they did a great job.

I didn't expect that much from the extras, because there wasn't really that much last year. But I was really disappointed in this years commentary setup. I really liked how they had it last year with TW, MR, and KK (even though she didnt talk) and a crew member to keep them focused for one commentary for a epsiode, and then just a crew one for the same episode. So if you wanted different takes on the episode or just more of a goofy one (ie. the cast one with TW and MR) you had a choice. TW and MR were just really funny together last year and I missed it this year. The commentaries with MR this year just weren't as good since he was stuck with all the crew and they were just talking about techinal stuff, which is fine but they should make that seperate, so he didn't get to goof off that much. Also the one with AM and JG seemed weird, because it was like the crew member wasn't with them when they did their commentary, it was like he did his seperate. I just hope next year they do commentaries with the cast and crew separate and get TW and MR back together.

Isn't the most important thing having the episodes? I mean the extras are interesting the first time around. But once you have seen them, you usually don't give them a repeat viewing, with the acception of the gag reels. I agree that it would have been nice to hear Tom give commentary on Exile instead of Michael, but in the end, all that matters is that we finally have season three to watch on DVD.

Chesay
11-24-2004, 02:14 AM
I love the extras though and I am just glad MR is willing to do the commentaries and cuts up on the gag reels. For my part I love that he is in it most because he is my personal favorite. The others don't seem as fan oriented or as willing to participate as MR, so I'd rather they not be forced to do it if they are unwilling. It seems to be a new experience for John Glover and I hope he will do a commentary with Michael as they have such great chemistry on screen together. I think John Schneider would enjoy doing it as well, but don't think he has been asked about it. It is always more enjoyable if the participants are doing it because they want to, not because they must. The episodes look great and it is wonderful to see them without commercials and in sequence.

I know this should go in the DVD thread, but I really wanted a quick answer to this. I've heard supposedly that there's commentary for the deleted scenes on the Season 3 DVD, but I don't no how to get to it. There doesn't seem to be an option for it on my DVD. Has anyone else had this problem?

IMO the commentaries on any dvd is nice to have if one of the actors done them, but from the articles I read about tv shows on dvd that not actors have time to do it for three primary reasons.

First one is if your one of the main characters that season, then you are most likely working. Sometimes on dramas they have Second Units(on Buffy the last couple of years they had to do three units of filming).

Second, you have to put in the variable that the commentaries have to be done at a certain time period or day. For an example, one of actors on Buffy was suppose to do commentary, but she couldnt because she was working.

Third, if you are working so many hours what would rather have your small free time left to do. Doing commentaries or spending time with your loved ones. For an example, Sarah Michelle Gellar never did any commentaries because she was busy as heck, and the free time she did have she wanted to spend it with her family and friends. I mean the actors have a life too that doesnt include their job. There is no contract that the actors have to do commentary.

To me its basic common sense, and if we get a commentary I'm glad they had the time. But if they dont its no biggie to me because I love having the episodes in dvd quality :).

Yeah, that's what I figured too. As Rosenbaum said, Welling is the hardest working actor on the show since he's practically in every scene.. so maybe his schedule wouldn't allow it.

Plus I think they put this set together more quickly than they did season 2, so there probably was only a small window of production time on the set.

Zaris,

You sold yours? I am dissapointed in you. :D

But seriously though, I am suprised that you did sell your set, because even if you thought that season three was the weakest one yet you should have kept the set just for the collector's element of having all the seasons available so far on DVD.

Plus, why would you buy it, only to sell it shortly after? If you never had any intention of keeping it, then why spend the money to buy it?

I didn't think season 3 was the weakest, at least, not the first half. That would be season 2, imo. ( Sold that one too.) I had pre-ordered the 3rd season set and simply became too disenchanted and disappointed with the show to enjoy watching it anymore. I did like seeing the gag reel however.

Congratulations on winning the sets, what a cool experience!

I don't mind you asking me why I sold the dvds, because you did so respectfully. I'll try to explain why.

Basically it's because I am feeling so very disappointed in the direction the show has taken, that it no longer gives me any pleaure to watch. And some of the perceptions I have been reading by some fans only darken my opinion of the show, because some fans just repeat the party line. So I've stopped watching the show and gotten rid of the dvds as a kind of "cleansing experience". I'm slowly weaning myself away from all other Smallville-related things, too--although...

I still have season 1, and I love it. I had really high hopes for the potential of this series, of seeing Lex and Clark's stories and how they transform into thier respective destinies, and it always left me with a good feeling afterward. I certainly can't say that any longer. The show has simply strayed too far away from it's roots. :(

The ratings indicate that the show has lost quite a bit more than it's gained...oh well.

Hey, you know what my favorite part of the season 1 dvds is? The French dubbing. The actor who did the voice for Lionel is just perfect (deep, booming, refined sounding), while it also cracks me up to hear Lex calling him "Papa!" and Clark calling his parents "Maman & Papa".

Yeah, the season 2 gag reel was way better. That was hilarious when MR was dancing at the end. Oh, and all of the bloopers when MR and John Glover were together were GREAT. The season 3 one had some good parts too. I just wish Tom Welling had been in it!

For anyone interested, amazon has selected WB dvds at half-price for a limited time, and that includes second-season Smallville. (These are new, not re-sells.)

No, it does not include Buffy & Angel, only selected dvds. B & A weren't selected, apparently. The West Wing fans will also be very happy to know that their seasons 1 & 2 are available cheap, too, though.

Haha I've never thought to watch it in French, but I'm going to do that now! How funny!

Papa!!

Probably a few months after the season is over, I would guess, is when the Season 4 DVD set will come out.

The earliest will probably be around this time(Nov./Dec.) next year, the latest being early 2006.

Btw, does anybody have any sales figures or information on how well the 3rd season set is selling?

zaris

It is currently ranked #74 in dvd sales on amazon. It's first week of release, it hit #16.

So, I'd have to say...not that great.

Wow! that's great, especially considering how much more expensive the DVD set was compared to everything else on that list. Wasn't even Buffy priced lower?

no, Buffy and Smallville both cost the same. Buffy Season 7 dvd was low for a two day sale on Black Friday(the day after Thanksgiving) for $17.00 plus tax but that's it. Every season of Buffy made the top ten. I was cool that both of my favorite shows are in the top ten :). I'm surprised that Yu-Gi-Ou(sp?) is in the top ten....kiddies sure love it.

but the link is the most recent on Dec.7th, so as of right now that's where Buffy and Smallville are at :).

Hi forum readers ;)

Do any of you know when Season 3 of Smallville is going to be released on DVD in the UK (or region 2)?

I've got Season 1 and 2 for Christmas, but can only find Season 3 on region 1. I know I could buy region 1 and it will probably work on my DVD player, but I've searched the Internet and there's no sign of Season 3 in the UK any time soon. Just wondered if anyone could shed a bit of light?

Thanks anyway, and am looking forward to Jan 26th 2005 (long wait until the next episode in Season 4!!!). What a nightmare!

Glad to hear that there's going to be a Season 5 too :D

Thanks for your time.

Hutch.

I read on a website somewhere (I'll try to find it again). That Season 5 is going to be based around the idea of them all finishing High School and going on to College. It will feature more of Metropolis and there will be more DC Characters involved. I think it was a quote from the director or producer :-) Unfortunately, he also said that Clark will never be seen in THE suit :-(

Yay! I just bought SV Season 3 DVD set. :p
I went straight for the last disc with the Gag Reel. It was funny as crap!
You gotta' love that Mike Rosenbaum, he seems like he would be really fun to work with, or hang with.
Only problem is, the Gag reel was way too short! I know y'all have more funny stuff than that. You're holding out on us.

Honestly, the Chloe Chronicles are boring as hell. I almost went to sleep while watching them, & wasn't even tired.
The Smallville Comic book & the Clark Cartoon thing was kinda' cool.
I guess I'll take one of these long winter nights when I'm snowed in, & have myself a SV Season 3 Marathon. ;)

I'm not sure if this has been addressed before, but I've been looking all over with no results, so this is my last resort - I'm hoping someone here can help me.

On the season 2 DVD's, specifically Red and Rosetta, the booklets that come with the DVD's say that there is two commentaries for each - the first with the director/producer guys, and the second with some of the actors. However, if you look on the special features of their respective disks, it only gives one commentary - the former, with the directors/producers. I would really like to see the second one for both Red and Rosetta. Where are they located? Or is the booklet just making a mistake?

Thanks for your help.

Off the top of my head, I think on the bottom of that menu screen there's either a "next" or "continue" button, highlight and click it and you should go to a second screen that gives you the option of listening to the cast commentary.

Hope this helps.. and if I'm wrong, maybe someone else can explain it better.

You might wanna also try just playing the episodes.. and then changing the audio track through your DVD remote.

this is a random question about the dvd's. sometimes this happens and sometimes it doesn't: i watch one of the episodes with the commentary on, then i eject the disk, later or another time when i try to watch the episode again it is still playing the commentary (sometimes it's regular, though). how do i get the episode off of the commentary?

I noticed as I was watching the Chloe Chronicles from seasons 2&3 dvds (which i had never seen before until yesterday and they were pretty sweet) there was a special feature for Gag Reels.

They were hysterical to watch and it kinda gives you an insider look into the filming. One thing that stood out was Lex and how he acted after scene messups. He was like a completely different person it almost felt like entering the twilight zone and seeing someone you've known for three years having multiple personality disorder. His outtakes were the funniest but it was still weird seeing him act...not lex....

Anyone else get this?

I have an important question for those of you who have the S2 dvds. Where exactly is the "Red" commentary with TW, KK, Mr and Beeman located? In the booklet it says it's on the first disc, yet when I click on "features" for that disc all that's listed is the AlMiles/Loeb commentary. Does it come up after the episode or something? I find it weird that it's not even listed.

Woohoo!... sounds like fun!... I got my mother hooked on it way back in season 1... so I don't have to worry about her... other then hearing her complain when the Jan 26th get here already! LOL :D

The season 3 set had some nice extras on it as well... I especially liked the commentary with 2 of my favorite actors... Allison Mack and John Glover... as well as the gag reel and Chloe Chronicles 2.... ok... ok... I loved it all! :p

Well, I bought Season 1 today at Circuit City. Target only had copies of Season 2 and Season 3 for $45 which isn't so bad. I ended up paying $5 at Circuit City. The store has a a boatload of copies of Smallville.

I just like to say, that the Pilot episode has about 3 deleted scenes that were not shown on television. I agree with what most of the people said here, it really takes away from the overall effect of the show when they cut scenes away.

BrentC007

Ahh, that reminds me when I bought Season 1 on DVD. I got it at Circuit City too. Best Buy had it advertised for $36.99, but they were sold out.. so I took the ad to CC.

Anyway, rewatching the first season on DVD is what made me a die-hard fan.

smlvilleluva

the characters definitely do develop... especially looking at season one compared to season four. the special features is somehwat scarce on the first season dvd, you are right. however, it is only because it was the first dvd... the second, and third are much better. and hopefully season four's will be even better :)

I just saw the gag reel, funny funny stuff. I wish it had been longer since this one was only about 6 minutes long.

I've watched the entire fist disk two times already. For some reason Red, the Season Premiere, and Duplicity all stick out to me as really good episodes.

smlvilleluva
01-25-2005, 11:07 AM
i think it would be cool to not only have a gag reel but to have a clumsy accidents reel.. showing scenes in which actors have tripped (like pete did) or where they fell on top of one another (like clark did on to chloe) and set music to it.

My first post ever-I was hooked on Smallville when ABC Family had a marathon of cast favorites on New Years Eve. I think the first episode I saw was Zero-and of course, I fell in love with Lex. Well, needless to say, I went out and bought all three seasons, and in the course of the last 3 weeks have proceeded to watch all the episodes, and now I am on my second viewing. I have been obsessed with Smallville, and primarily Lex and Clark's relationship. I have even foregone some of my regular shows just to watch Smallville. I was most impressed with "Shattered", "Asylum", and "Memoria". My only downfall is I have no idea what has happened the first half of season 4 (other than what I read on the episode recaps). I managed to catch a rerun of "Run" (I think it was called that-the one with the Flash-Bart). Other than that episode, WB has been playing season 3 reruns for the month of January. I am extremely excited for tomorrows new episode, I just hope I am not lost, and I cannot wait for the 4th season on DVD. I guess I'm a bandwagon fan...and proud of it!
I must also agree-the gag reels are my favorite bonus features, and I too was a little taken aback by Michael's flatulance...too bad season 1 didn't have as wonderful of special features (like no gag reel!). The commentaries are also very interesting to listen too. So far I've only heard two of them, and I enjoyed the one during "Exile". The other one I watched has Kristin also, but I think she said maybe 5 words the entire time...Michael Rosnebaum is great, he has a unique sense of humor...
I agree that a reel of "clumsy accidents" would be great to see too! It's nice to see the actors as people, not just their characters.

smlvilleluva
01-25-2005, 02:22 PM
you know i wonder if watching the season all at once as opposed to watching it over a 3+ year period makes a difference in how one views the show.

lex_4_president
01-25-2005, 02:32 PM
As one who watched all three seasons at once, I can say, that yes, it does make a difference. Because I had captured bits of epsiodes on TV. I recognized them when I watched the full episodes. But they didn't catch my attention back then. I think being able to watch them all, back to back, made me a huge fan, because I didn't have any time to analyze episodes in between weekly shows. Just my thought!

I've been watching Smallville since ABC Family first started airing it in the fall (I think it was in September?) and I think there's a big difference between watching a show over a three year period and watching it everyday like I've been doing. I tend to get more wrapped up in a show that I watch everyday, almost like a soap opera. I've become very hooked on SV and it will be sad when they show the final S3 episode. Watching the show everyday I tend to remember things better too and become more involved with the characters than I normally would if it was only shown once a week.

lex_4_president, the episodes that you picked as your favorites are my favorite episodes also!

smlvilleluva
01-25-2005, 07:56 PM
*so excited because it is less than 24 hours away*
i think that there are some small things and jokes that it is hard to get from watching the season over a short period of time (such as 2 months) 4 or 6 i can understand. there are common jokes on the shows or other mannerisms that are hidden that one may not notice, but on the other hand they may notice them even more. another difference could be the age you see it. i've been watching smalville since its premiere, and i was in 8th grade. going back now i understand some of the sexual innuendos and other historical references that i didnt before. but i dont think that there is one right or wrong way to do it.

lex_4_president
01-25-2005, 08:45 PM
You're right, there is no wrong, or right way...In the end, the story is still the same! Right now I am watching Velocity, and Clark just denied Pete some Hoops. So sad...I have to say, having watched all three seasons back to back, that season 3 was the best. Save for Pete leaving, I think that all the characters have at this poitn become their characters. Now I'll be watching Obsession to prepare myself for tomorrows new episode!

Thanks, MBCorp, I think Michael Rosenbaum is an amazing actor, and seeing his range impresses me! I think he has all the best episodes!

smlvilleluva
01-26-2005, 05:29 AM
yea that velocity scene was sad. many people didn't really like that episode but i am glad that there are some of us who did.

Andie
01-26-2005, 07:05 AM
I didn't like Velocity cause it was an occ with Pete, you saw Duplicity when he found out about Clark, how prefered to sacrifice himself than betray his friend.

That is why I hate this ep. I have yet to get season one and two. I hear season two has also a gag reel? I have to get it than.

Season 4 is a most, I love a tripping thingie as well.

lex_4_president
01-26-2005, 07:25 AM
Velocity does portray Pete in a different light, but I think it helps to set up his leaving, and also proves that when a person is desperate, they will ask their friends for anything.
Season 2 has a great gag reel, the reel on season 3 has basically no mess ups from Tom Welling, or the rest of the cast. Most of the gag reel on season 3 is of Michael Rosenbaum-which is great cause he's hilarious, but it's nice to see all the actors will a little mistake here and there!

Andie
01-26-2005, 07:31 AM
I'd wish the gag reel would had been longer did you check out the behind the scenes special? they recycle their sets!

lex_4_president
01-26-2005, 07:40 AM
Yes-I did watch that behind the scenes-I love special features, so I hope season 4 has even more stuff-and a longer gag reel! I thought it was really interesting how the hospital hall is used in almost every scene that's not the barn, the house, or the Torch!

smlvilleluva
01-26-2005, 07:52 AM
i think it would be cool if they had raw footage of a day in the life of tom, kristen, allison, and michael. and there would be footage of a camera crew following each of them around separately on a day when they weren't filming. this probably invades their privacy but i think it is similar to a gag reel in that it might show the actual actors' personalities.

Rafael122
01-30-2005, 09:50 AM
I had a question. In Season 2, Ryan said he knew Martha's secret but she didn't want to tell Jonathan and Clark yet. Doctors found out Martha was pregnant when she breathed in some kryptonite gas.

My question is, was Martha pregnant before that or after? If not, then what was her secret?

smlvilleluva
01-30-2005, 10:06 AM
martha was pregnant before the doctors found out. ryan knew but didn't tell anyone, thus the audience didnt know either. we only found out that martha was pregnant when jonathan and clark did/

lex_4_president
02-04-2005, 09:22 PM
Hmmmm........I don't know, because the commentary and the regular episodes are on different menu's, so unless you have a really fancy DVD player that does something I don't know about-it shouldn't go back to the Commentary, unless you have auto-resume, and you don't clear the DVD player memory before you watch the episode again...???

I'd love it if the DVD front cover was just a big picture of Lex and the back cover a whole bunch of smaller pictures of Lex but that's just a selfish, personal wish of mine. :D

Seriously though, I would like to see the other characters on the front cover as well. Especially Chloe and Lionel since they've both been from the show from the beginning. I don't like S1 and S2 DVD covers since they are just Clark.

Chloe and Lionel should definitely both be on the cover, and so should Jonathan and Martha. If they use another Clark-only or Clark-Lex-Lana-only cover, I'll be really disappointed.

MBCorp
02-08-2005, 12:06 PM

Just watched the commentary for Truth...pretty funny-John Glover is great and the interaction between him and Allison was fantastic on the commentary. I am hoping season 4 will have more commentary with the other cast members-though it is pointless for KK to be on the commentary-she never speaks unless asked a question (or if she laughs at TW or MR)!!! Anyway, I am loving the commentaries, and want more, more, more! I just wish there had been a commentary for Shattered...wishful thinking.

i watched season 2, then season 3, now i'm going through the first season - i'm thru episode 8 or 9 i think

even season 3 was so much more coherent than what we're watching now - it's almost as if they've brought in a whole different writing team this year and said "make up some stories"

i know smallville has many many different writers...is that common??
it would seem to me to be nonsensical to have a lot of writers if you're creating a tv show - especially something as historical and story-driven as smallville

shouldn't there be like 2/3 writers all working together on every episode?

Drew

First couple seasons had a bad guy in every ep, and by the end, Clark would overcome them.

Only a small portion of the show was about the different character storylines and development. I noticed during the 3rd season they started to have less individual bad guys in each episode, and span out stories throughout many.

wouldn't it be cool if THIS (http://www.kryptonsite.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=30475&perpage=15&pagenumber=1) was the 4th season dvd cover?

Yeah, I hope they release them shortly after the season finale, not all the way in November like they did with Season 3. :\

It will probably get an earlier release date than season 3 had becuase they'd didn't even finish season 2 until May. :)

They keep this updated because of how often its asked. It probably wont be until the end of the year or closer to the latter half.
