Is Clark mad at his mom? Lionel speaks with her, tells Clark and Clark doesn't even care. It's like he didn't even listen. Maybe he's mad Martha speaks with Lionel late at night. I don't know. I would have prefer Clark speaking to his mom by phone.

I loved how they worked Martha into the show like that. Thought it was great. I think you're reading too much into it if you think he's mad at his mother though. More likely, he just had a lot on his mind. Imagine:
On the one hand, Lana has just been instilled with superpowers which could possibly kill her. On the other, mom says hi.
Not a terrible conundrum really ;)

Maybe bringing back his real mom, that's something on his mind for sure. But still, I would have prefered a phone call where Clark tells her mom not to worry about Kara, she's adjusting, etc. The way Martha and Jonathan were, the minute Martha heard of another alien she would have quit her job as senator and go to Clark, does Martha even know about Season 7? That's what I mean, they should keep her in the show without having her, involve her more in Clark's issues rather than involving her in more disgusting conversations with Lionel.

Well, I don't know why you're calling her conversation with Lionel disgusting. He is a good friend of hers, and it's nice to know she keeps in touch with her friends.
I definitely agree with you that it would be nice to involve her in the show, even if she can't be physically ON the show. They did just that in this episode though! I thought that was great. I had another idea for how they could do something similar, which would be a really fun moment. Imagine the following beginning to a scene.
Clark rushes in.
Clark: Hey Chloe.
Chloe: You're late.
Clark: Yeah, sorry about that. I was having lunch with my mom, the service was really slow.
Chloe: Oh, Mrs. Kent is in town?!
Clark: Superspeed Chloe.
Chloe: Oh, right. You'd think by now that would be second nature for me. Okay, anyway...
It'd be nice, about as long as Lionel's on-screen conversation was, and would remind everybody that Clark really does love his mother! He shouldn't need Bart Allen around in order to do things in other parts of the world, heh.

I think Clark is still weirded out that about Lionel and Martha. I think he was hpoing that distance would cause Martha and Lionel not to be so friendly with eachother.

I'm just glad they mentioned Martha and still made her part of the story despite Annette O'Toole not being there..... Just because O'Toole left is no excuse for forgetting the character ever existed.. I appreciate the writers using this good continuity.

Yup! It's great, especially since the show has such a poor track record of remembering departed cast members.

They also mentioned Jonathan as well. Not my name, but relation to his heart ultimately failing as a result of his deal with Jor-El to Kryptonian powers to bring Clark home to Smallville back in Exile or whatever.

Also a nice touch in the episode. Every now and then you get an episode like this, which while full of plotholes, also has some nice moments where you can go, "Awh, they really do pay attention to what they've done in the past... sometimes." :)
