Okay, so Lana got Kryptonian abilities. Cool! Super strength. Great. Super speed. Okay. Super hearing. Sure.

This is my gripe. Where did she learn to use heat vision? The x-ray vision thing I understand. Even Clark was ALWAYS able to do that. He sort of just discovered it. But the heat vision? He had to learn that one.

Seriously sloppy, TPTB! Any ol' jamoke that gets powers becomes the master right away, but the guy who OWNS them can't fly YET?!?

So, seriously, do you need a bigger budget, more time to write up these episodes or do you just need to learn to stop disrespecting your fan base?

Nobody has gotten powers Clark hasn't developed yet. Eric Summers didn't have the ability to fly because Clark didn't yet.

Kara's here for 5 minutes and she's able to fly. Zod was flying, and possibly in less time than that.

Zod's an evil super general. Different situation with him.

When Jonathan got the powers it didn't take him long either. Didn't take the girl Jor-El entombed that long either. Didn't take Lex long either after he got injected and empowered by BrainIAC, although he only got the super speed and strength.

I would normally point out here that Zod had never been to Earth before. No matter how evil, he still wouldn't have had experience with powers on Earth. With portals though, who knows. Maybe Zod had a summer house in Maui.

I think you have to look at it in the sense that Clark has more than likely discussed his super powers with Lana. If they have discussed them, then he's most likely described how he's able to use them. Same thing with Jonathan. Jonathan knew how Clark controlled all of his powers so it seems reasonable that they wouldn't take as long to master.

I think it also has to do with physical maturity. Some of his powers just come with age. Lana is old enough to have al Clark's powers.

That said, it was a little quick, but hey, this episode wasn't about developing superpowers so I didn't realy care.

I agree. I would have posted this same thing more or less had you not beaten me to it! ;)

Clark doesn't fly because he chooses not to, it has nothing to do with maturity.
Actually it has everything to do with the writers.

I suppose I could buy that. Jonathan knew all of Clark's powers and so could at least TRY to apply them.

But the way Lana was looking at Clark when she used her x-ray vision mad eme believe she had no idea he could do that.

As for Zod, the same thing would apply. He wouldn't be able to use anything besides strength and speed immediately unless he knew about them first. See, if the Phantom Zone in SV was more like the one in the comics they could always say that Zod saw Clark flying and stuff.

It seems people who get Clark's powers are able to use them right away. I guess they're a bit of faster learners than Clark. :p
