i think were not sopposed to know its what u want him to say kinda like fill in the blank...in my case i fill it in with "of course I'll love you forever and always"

No, the point of the scene, was that in past seasons, who would have simply said Of course I love you, and that would be it. Now, after seeing Lana for what she really is, he's not sure he actually loves her, or the image he built up of her in his head. His reluctance to answer, was the answer, he's not sure.
