I'm still upset at Lois. I can not believe how incredibly stupid she was in this episode. Did she NOT see the hd sitting next to his computer when she walked into his office. Did she also bypass the obvious lie in the elevator. This is not the Lois Lane that becomes star reporter. She couldn't get a clue if it attached itself to her @ss.
Staring to wonder if there is something to the Chlois Theory, or at least there better be.

He's either working for Lex or Lionel.

I thin it's Lex because of the way he protected Lex when Lana presented him with the story.
Also, Lana never said it was stolen from Lex. He knew it was stolen.

He's definitely working for somebody, most likely it's one of the Luthors, but it might also be that creepy government agency, Starhawk.

My theory is that Grant is another of Lionel's illegitimate sons.

I suddenly got the feeling he was working for Lionel, and really is trying to protect Lois by keeping her out of the way.

yeah i think so look at all the times hes told lois to drop the story involving the luthors most spacificly lex then theres this episode so theres no doubt hes working for lex, the question is will he continue being an agent of lex or will lois's charms bring him to the lightside of the force!!! lol

Everytime Lois goes to investigate the Luthor's Grant is always quick to tell her to drop it. Hmm Coincedence I think not.

It's most likely Lex given the information he was deleting. I am not convinced Lois knows anything right now, but I don't think she will be in the dark forever. Before Grant meets his maker, she will find out one way or another.
I wouldn't be surprised if Grant was coming with flowers to the hospital to distract her, when he probably figured she would try to escape and get the information at the hard drive. So, aiding in her escape in the end was so he could keep an eye on her, so she wouldn't get the information.

Now that I think about Lionel is a possibility given that he always seems to have his own agenda, even when being sort of good for the most part the last few years. It could be just another thing he holds over Lex's head, like moving the 33.1 facilities last season. If that is the case, that Lionel will no doubt give Lex a big lecture, and comment on how he guesses Lex isn't as good at concealing things as he thought.

I am sure he is paid/blackmailed well to keep one or both the Luthors informed on bits of information...

At least we don't think she has a clue . . . yet! She will definitely catch on though. She might even end up exposing him for the snake in the grass that he is, and get a big story out of it in the process. Grant is not gonna be around much longer anyway. Persona is his very final appearance (and I do mean final).;)
If it means that we eventually get another heart to heart talk between her and Clark when he's gone, then I'm all for it. Anything that ends up bringing Clois closer is par for the course as far as I'm concerned.

Of course it's Lionel. Why would Lex want the hard drive erased? And please give Lois some credit. Of course she's suspicious of Grant. Why else would she do a total 180 from "in your dreams" to "here I am"?

Impossible--his name doesn't begin with "L". :D
Lex owns the Daily Planet, doesn't he? So obviously, Grant works for him. Is Grant doing more work for Lex than stated in his contract? Well, that's a different question, and I think the answer is very clear: YES.
Silent Kal: lol. Absolutely right. Maybe Grant isn't his real name...

So does Lex also have other editors in his pocket? Because, as Lana said, she could always take the story to the Herald. What exactly is Grant doing for Lex beyond killing stories? And how does that help Lex's end game when there are plenty of other papers that would be happy to break a juicy story on Lex Luthor's evil ways.

At first, I didn't want to think so. I still don't want to think so.
My take on it was like the movie Resident Evil: Apocalypse. Think about it. The whole movie was about protecting a journalist with absolute, concrete proof Umbrella screwed up Raccoon City.
But at the end of the movie, the video was declared a hoax, the reporter was shunned and Umbrella was praised for their involvement in the situation.
That's what I was truly hoping for from Grant. He wanted to keep Lois away from the Luthors, because even if she could prove the stories, it would destroy the Daily Planet. Without Superman around to corroborate what's been written, the Luthors are untouchable.
That's my rationale. But now that we've seen pictures of Grant and Lex playing pool, I've given up hope for a real story. Al/Miles don't know how to write jack shite. So they make Grant a stoolie. It's bull crap.

Lois is playing him.

I have to agree that he is working for Lionel. Otherwise, why wouldn't he just give the hard drive back? If the research data is so important to Lex, why would he have it deleted? Lionel has more reason to have Lex's material deleted than anyone else. He doesn't want Lex to get too close to anything that is directly or indirectly linked to Clark.

He's working for a Luthor that seems pretty certain but which Luthor?
Lex or Lionel? I think we're supposed to think it's Lex but it's really Lionel.
