[AN: I will be updating Brothers and Lightness of an Angel, but this fic won’t get as many updates, so just bear with me in this one.]

Cut to the chase

Rating: PG-PG13(for violence and mild language)

Summary: I’m not going to say much, but just the basics. Jonathan is a rich business owner in California. Clark and Jason are best friends since they could remember( I know it’s hard to imagine, but just try) and since Clark is normal, that means no meteor shower, and no meteor freaks or anything like that and Jason and his mother isn’t obsessed with the stones. Plus, no Lex and Lionel or any mentions of the Luther in this story. Also, this is an AU story, some of the characters are completely alien to the show’s.

Disclaimer: I DO NOT own any of all of these characters, some of them belong to the CWB network or whatever it’s called, the others are just fragments of my imagination.

Pairings: Obviously Clana, but I’m not saying anymore.

Here’s the banner that I have attempted to make for this fic.

Prologue.

Clark’s POV

“WE are what?!” I couldn’t believe my ears, no, we just cannot!

“Clark, Metropolis isn’t that bad. Besides, it’s not like we haven’t been there before.” My father said,
“Trust me, have I ever let you down before?”

I raised an eyebrow, “Do you really want me to answer that one?”

“Uh- good point.” My father said slightly uncomfortably, “At least Jason is coming along.”

I didn’t know either that was a good or a bad thing, so I just looked hard at the floor. So back to the topic, my father grew up in a small country town, as in a very small country town. I think it was called Smallville or something, no seriously, it was called Smallville. My Mom grew up in Metropolis, my grandfather was some sort of a rich business man, and my parents met in college. My Dad showed no love in farm life, in fact he wanted to escape it all, so instead my uncle James took over the farm. I have no idea how my parents actually got together, but hey, I’m not complaining.

“So if you hated Smallville so much, then why are we moving closer there?” Why didn’t I think of that? Smallville and Metropolis are close.

“I still don’t exactly love the country life, but this move is just moving the company forward. I will do whatever it takes to do that.” My father said stiffly, “Besides, Smallville is miles away from Metropolis. It’s not like my tick-bitten brother will ever come to Metropolis.” If you didn’t know that my father and my Uncle hated each other deeply, then you need to get your eyes checked.

“Dad…Uncle James isn’t tick bitten, and I don’t mind going to the farm for a visit every now and then.” I grinned, I knew saying this will make my father beyond pissed, and he wants to move away from California then fine! But I’m not surrendering just yet. Surprisingly my father grinned instead of scowling; I closed my eyes hard and opened them again. Am I going nuts?

“Oh, you will be seeing a lot of the farm…I realize that making you live the high life won’t make you a good business man, or the CEO of one of the richest companies of the world. Mr. Teague and I realize that if you and Jason were going to actually have a chance, then we have stop all this living the high life. You and Jason will be living on the farm, you will be attending Smallville High and while in your spare times, instead of downloading music and playing video games, you will be helping your uncle on the farm. Your mother will be getting monthly reports to see how you are going.” My father said, in my mind I imagined a chessboard, and my father had just checked-mate me. We are leaving CA for a small country town….NO!

“You can’t do this! There’s got to be a law saying….This has got to be illegal!” I struggled; grief was now obvious on my face. There goes the cocky attitude that I tried.

“I’m sorry Clark, but you have too. Your father is doing this for your own good.” My mother tried to calm me down, she putted and hand on my shoulder.

“For my own good?!” I practically yelled. “Just….Just leave me alone!” I got up, brushing my mother’s hand away and stormed up into my room. Well, it’s not saying goodbye entirely to the cocky attitude.

“Remember Clark, we are just a phone call away if you need us.” My mother said hugging me.

“Yeah, I’ll remember that.” I said sarcastically, my mother missed the sarcasm. We said our final goodbyes, but my father wouldn’t get out of the limo. My mother and Mrs. Teague tearfully went back into the limo; they then drove off into the dirt track.

Jason and I then stared at the old yellow farm house; I guess it wouldn’t be that bad living here, at least no more stupid lectures on how to run a company by our fathers.

“Clark! My gosh, you have grown up quite a bit since the last time I saw you! Both of you look like two strapping young men.”

In reality, I looked a bit more like my Uncle, but not exactly, it was still a mystery whether I take my looks from my mother’s side or my father’s.

“Uncle James!” I smiled when I saw him come towards me. Ever since I was young, I had loved Uncle James more then the other uncles from my mother’s side, my uncles from my mom’s side thought that I was being extremely childish and that I should act more grown up, even when I was very young.

“Clark, it’s good to have you and Jason live here for a while. God knows that I could use the extra pair of strong hands around here.” My Uncle beamed at us both. “C’mon boys, I’ll show you to your new rooms.” Jason and I grabbed (or tried too) most of my bags. But we was slightly thick headed and tried grab all of it and almost broke our backs. We gave up and decided that we’ll get half now and come back for the other half.

After we had put our bags into my room, Uncle James showed us around the farm. I couldn’t help it but to smile as I breathed in the fresh country air, but I do miss the occasion sniff of the salty air of the beach. But after all, it was in my blood to enjoy the country air.

“Clark, Jason, here’s the barn, I have almost no use of it and decided to give it to you guys while you’re here, no in fact, it’s yours. You can come up here to do what ever, to study or to just gaze up at the stars.” My Uncle James said.

“Thanks. Um, do you mind if we check it out?” I asked.

“Ditto.” Jason said.

“Go ahead. It’s all yours now.”

Jason and I climbed up the loft’s stairs, they were slightly creaky but we didn’t mind. We were so absorbed by our surroundings. There was a quite large red couch, a study desk, a telescope and a book shelf full of books. Jason then plopped himself on the couch, intruded, I made my way towards the telescope. I spun it around randomly and when it finally stopped I took a peak. What (more like who) I saw absolutely took my breath away. I could feel my heart skipping a few beats and at the same time it slowed down. A raven haired beauty was sitting down on the porch, next to her was….Was I seeing double? There were two of them, one of them looked slightly older and the other younger.

“Hey Jas, come and look at this!” I said.

“Your spying on…someone, heh never knew that there was actually someone that lives near us.” Jason said grinning.

“Same here, but seriously, take a look.” I moved away and let Jason take a peek. After a few moments, I could see Jason grinning.

“We have just got a place with a view.” He grinned, “The one in the blue tank top looks hot.”

“Don’t they both?” I laughed, “But hey, let’s hope we can see them at um Smallville High or what ever it was called.”

“Yeah.”

“Clark! Jason! Lunch is ready!” I heard my Aunt calling from the bottom of the stairs.

“C’mon, I’m starving. The food on the airplane sucks.” Jason said, he ran passed me and climbed down the stairs. Typical Jason, he’s always there if there’s a mention of food, actually if you come to think about it, I do too.

“This is GREAT Mrs. Kent.” Jason said after finishing his lunch, “If only we had great cooks like you back home…” I then looked down at my plate at the mention of ‘home’. Gee, I really do miss CA a lot. It seems to hurt more then what I expected.

“C’mon boys, go and freshen up a bit, your new neighbors are stopping by soon.” My Aunt said, “I don’t want both my boys with bread crumbs on their faces and sweaty shirts on when the Langs come, now be off you two!”

“Who do you think the Langs are?” Jason asked when we climbed downstairs into the living room.

“Our new neighbors, duh.”

“Yeah, I know that. But who are they? Old…young…etcetera.” Jason explained.

“Dunno.”

“You bore me Kent.” Jason said.

“Glad to hear that.” I grinned.

When we reached the bottom of the stairs and into the living room, Jason and I stopped dead. We were in mid step when we looked up at our guests.

“Clark, Jason this is our neighbors, I’ll like you both to meet Lewis Lang, Laura Lang and their daughters, Lana and Laruen Lang.” My Uncle said. Jason and I still didn’t utter a word. The Lang’s daughters were the same girls we were uh looking at in the Loft. I thought I had pointed the telescope somewhere a bit further away from our neighbor’s house, but I was incorrect. We were spying on our neighbours the whole time!

“Nice to meet you two young men.” Mr. Lang said offering his hand. I shook it, Jason then followed my lead. I flashed a smile at the Langs, can they tell that Jason and I was, how can say, guilty? We were spying on their daughters in the afternoon.

“So you two will be attending Smallville High then?” Mrs. Lang asked us.

“Yeah.” Jason replied. I looked at Lana and Lauren; they both looked a bit uninterested. Did they know that we were spying on them this afternoon?

“Okay, hell officially starts now.” Jason said as we enter the main corridor of Smallville High.

“Yeah.”

We stopped suddenly as the cheerleading squad and the footballers passed us, you would be stupid if you thought that picking a fight or bumping into the cheerleaders or the footballers on the first day was okay back in CA, I guess the same rules apply here as well.

“Hey Lana, aren’t those guys the ones who moved in yesterday?” Lauren asked her sister as they walked passed them.

“Yeah, I think so.” Lana replied.

“Didn’t Mom say they were from California or something?”

“I didn’t pay much attention, but I think so.” Lana said going thru her new timetable.

“Lana watch out-

“Wah?”

CRASH

“Oww…” Lana said, great, what a great way to start your senior year. She looked up at who she had bumped into.

A few moments ago….

“Clark, where do you think we have to go?” Jason asked.

“The principal’s office I think.” I replied, “Oh, why don’t we ask someone here then?” There were unfriendly g lances at us, “They look friendly.” I said sarcastically.

“Yeah, why don’t we?”

“I think we can find the principal’s office by our selves, I mean, it can’t be that hard, can it?” I suggested.

“Clark, watch out-

“Huh?”

CRASH

“Argh.” Why to go Clark, an absolutely great way to start a new school Clark. Yeah, just go crashing into someone. I looked up at the person I had bumped into, oh great. First I spied on her, now I bumped, more liked crashed, into her. Luckily my books were still in my bag, well, I can’t say the same thing for her. I then started to pick up some of her books for her, when I gave them back to her, I gave her an apologetic smile.

“Sorry I crashed into you.” I said sincerely.

“No, it was my fault. If I was paying attention to where I was going this would have never happened.” She smiled at me, again, I felt my heart beating fast and skipping a feel beats, but at the same time it was beating slower.

“It’s not the only thing he has to apologize for.” I could hear Jason muttered softly.

Chapter 1

“So did you see Chloe Sullivan?” Jason asked as he lazed around on the couch while I was studying.

“Wha?” I said, who’s Chloe Sullivan?

“Blonde chick, very short hair, hangs with the Langs.” Jason said starring at the loft’s ceiling.

“Never seen her.” I said erasing my answer on my math’s homework frowning slightly.

“Well, she runs the Torch, school’s news paper.” Jason said, “I thought you would be at least interested, since well, you are into journalism.”

“Nah, think I’ll give it up for now. Get into it again when we go back to CA.”

“Okay, so you don’t mind me asking that Chloe chick out?” Jason said, still he was starring at the loft’s ceiling.

“What do you think I am your parents?” I said, bah! I give up on this math’s homework for now, I’ll do it tomorrow.

“You bore me Kent.”

“You shame me Teague.” I retorted mockingly.

“Ha, never heard of that one.” Jason laughed, Jason and I have this competition where we would say things like ‘You bore me Kent’ or ‘You mock me Teague’ usually the one who has the last say wins. So far, um 1 to me, miles in front Jason. “Seriously, let’s go somewhere. We finished those chores that your uncle gave us; homework is out of the question, let’s go and explore this town.”

“Yeah, but how do we know the way?” I asked.

“Easy, remember on the way here your Dad said that one way would lead into town and the other to Lake Carta or something.” Jason now sat up straight.

“I’m sure it was Lake Crater, plus use those brains of yours. We did not pass any lakes on our way here, so we pretty much know which way to go.” I grabbed the keys to the SUV, Mom made sure that we weren’t interfering with Uncle James or Aunt Tina so she brought a SUV for Jason and I to use this year. “Let’s go.”

“Uncle James!” I called out as we enter the house.

“Yes Clark?”

“Is it okay if Jason and I explore the shops around Smallville? We will be back in an hour or two, or before dark, we promise.” I said.

“Of course, do you think that I will keep you trapped at the farm for all year?” Uncle James smiled, “Go and paint the town red if you must.”

“Thanks.” I said gratefully and left.

“So, where now?” Jason asked when we got out of the car.

“It was your idea to come here remember?” I said, wouldn’t Jason have at least a tiny hint of where to go, since he was the one who wanted to go out.

“How ‘bout over there?” Jason said, a coffee house? If we wanted to go to a coffee house, then we might as well go to Starbucks.

“We might as well go to Starbucks for all I care.” I grunted.

“Yeah, but it seems kinda popular, let’s go and see why it is.” Jason and I headed off over there. As we drew closer, I read the coffee house’s name, The Talon.

“Just a small mocha thanks and a flat white.” Jason ordered over the counter.

We sat at a table just near the corner, I noticed that this place was popular for dates. Gee, it would dumb for two guys to sit alone with each other in a place where people go for dates mainly.

“This reeks. People are looking at us as if we are….gay.” Jason said.

“Hey, isn’t that the Chloe Sullivan chick?” I said pointing at a girl with short blonde hair, she looks like she might be in our year.

“Yeah…and she’s taken…” Jason fell back solemnly into his chair, “Damnit! I knew a chick like her had to have a guy…Hey, isn’t that Lana and Lauren?” I looked quickly over at front door, sure enough Lana and Lauren entered. Jason being Jason, he waved at them both. Great, I would give anything of mine to stop him from bringing them over, and yet I would give anything in my possession to make him bring them over here.

“Hey, at least people will stop thinking that we are homosexuals.” Jason grinned.

“Yeah, fantastic.”

“Hey, I thought you guys would be doing your chores back at the farm?” Lauren said smiling as she pulled out a chair next to me. Gulp.

“We finished early.” I said, could girls smell out fear or nervousness? I remember my mother could tell that I was worried by just glancing at me, but that was my mother. It seemed like Jason was thinking along the same lines.

“We’ll just go and order, be right back.” Lana said getting up.

“No, I’ll go, you can stay and relax sis.” Lauren piped up, was my eyes deceiving me, but did Lauren wink at Lana?

“Oh kay.” Lana said slowly, she got back into her seat.

“So what’s up with this place with couples?” I asked.

“It’s a hot spot for dates.” Lana explained, “This was the place where my parents actually met.”

“So um how long have you and your sister been living in Smallville?” I asked, I was even surprised at my own daring.

“All our lives.” Lana replied, “So where did you live in CA?”

“San Diego.” I said, I then reached out to my own coffee cup. Strange, with Lana here, my cup of coffee seems miles and miles away.

“So I’m guessing either Jason or you is related to James Kent?” Lauren said as she putted the coffees on the table.

I chuckled slightly, “Wouldn’t it be obvious that I was related to James Kent? Maybe I have to wear plaid to look more like him.”

“Maybe.” Lauren said with a smile. Evidently, I found myself smiling with her.

“So you two gave up the sun and surf for the life on the farm?” Lauren said.

“Not really. We were forced, kinda. One day we found out we were moving to Metropolis, and then suddenly only us two are going to Smallville while our parents are in Metropolis.” I explained, “But Smallville isn’t that bad…once you get used to the smell of cow dung…” I joked, Lauren laughed while Lana couldn’t help it to crack a smile.

“We better be off, our parent’s will skin us alive if we make it home late.” Lana said checking her watch. Out of the blue, someone came behind Lana. He had piercing blue eyes and chestnut hair, when Lana turned around, the guy kissed her. I felt as if all hope was gone. My heart was piercing into two, I couldn’t breathe…

“Hey, I thought you were still on vacation?” Lana said after they broke for air.

“Had to come back didn’t I?” He smiled.

“Hey Lauren, can you tell Mom that Matt’s taking me home? Here are the keys...” Lana passed Lauren the keys to their car.

Something in me, probably from grief and despair, made me do what I did. “Hey Lauren, you want to go out sometime?” I could see Jason grinning at me, he mouthed ‘score!’ to me.

Lauren turned around, “Yeah, sure.”

“How about I’ll give you my number and we can um arrange what time and where to meet and stuff.” I scribbled my number on a napkin and gave it to her smiling.

[AN: I had a lot of important tests that counted for major credits so I have to put my head down and study like hell, so that’s why I had this chapter up a bit late then what I expected. Perhaps the next few chapters will be posted on weekends or Fridays from now on.]

Chapter 2.

“What did I just do?” I asked Jason when the Lang sisters exited the Talon. My head was just spinning.

“Oh nothing much, you just found the guts to ask Lauren out, which may I say, was quite unexpected. You also gave her your number. That’s all.” Jason said rolling his eyes.

“I…did….” A smile crept on my face, I couldn’t help it. Yes Lana did have a boyfriend, but at least I got to Lauren before anyone else did.

“C’mon, let’s go back to the farm before you do something…extreme.” Jason said, he put a ten dollar bill on the table and we left. “You owe me coffee next time Clark.”

I felt like I did do something extreme, asking a girl out. Most of the guys in my year would probably think that was the easiest task in the world, but to me it’s like someone telling me to go bungee jumping and then go climb the tallest mountain with a ball point pen. I sat silently as Jason drove back to the farm, I was deep in thought. Where would we go? The movies? The Talon again? Those were the only places I knew in Smallville besides school and the farm. Note to self: ask Aunt Tina about some places in smallville, maybe directions to the mall or something.

“Phew…now we’ve got the weekend to look forward to.” Jason grinned at me as we exited the school bus. I could see Lauren waving at me, she was intercating for me to come over.

“Yeah?” I said smiling. I was aware that Lana was looking on.

“Do you mind if I stop by the farm around 5?”

“Yeah, no problem, just go straight up to the loft. I’ll be there.”

“Okay, see you at 5 then.” Lauren smiled and walked off with her sister.

“C’mon Clark, you don’t want to be late for Lauren if you are going to walk this slow.” Jason said jokingly as I made my way towards the farm.

“Oh shut up.” I threw my hat at him, Jason caught it and threw it back at me.

“This is…awkward.” I said starring down at the cow. I checked my watch, I have fifteen minutes left to get to the loft.

“Don’t worry, she won’t bite…maybe kick but that’s all.” My uncle said patting the cow on the back. “Right Miss Bessie?” The cow mooed in reply.

“So I’m suppose to just squeeze the utters?” I asked.

“Yeah, that’s the idea but I’m just showing you how it’s done first.” My uncle grabbed the stool and started to milk the cow. “It’s quite simple really, but I’m just showing you…incase Miss Bessie started to kick you…”

Uncle James then left me to milk the cow. I sat down on the stool and started to squeeze the utters, don’t they had machines to do these kind of job? Oh wait, those machines are only for more then one cow.

“Hello?” Lauren called out as she climbed the loft’s stairs.

“Clark’s in the fields milking the cow. He’ll be up here in a few mins…” Jason said as he was reading a book, he then closed it and got up. “I’ll leave now, you two can have some privacy then.”

“No, it’s okay, I’ll go look for him.” Lauren said. She then made her way to the fields.

I heard footsteps coming towards me, I stopped squeezing the utters and looked at my watch. Ten past five already? I could see Lauren coming towards me.

“Hi, uh sorry I couldn’t make it to the loft…I was busy as you can see.” I said smiling apologetically.

“No worries.” Lauren said smiling.

“So do you want to go to the movies or something during the weekend?” I asked.

“Well, I do know there’s a really good movie on, I think it’s called the Golden Compass.” Lauren said.

“Cool, I’ll check the movie times later on today then.” I said getting up. An idea ringed in my mind, I was feeling slightly brave…maybe she will take it as having some fun…I can only hope so. I sat down on the stool milking Miss Bessie, a grin cracked onto my face. “Hey Lauren, can you open your mouth please?” I asked her.

Lauren stared at me slightly confused, but she opened her mouth. I got one of Miss Bessie’s utters and aimed carefully at Lauren’s mouth.

“Clark Kent don’t you dare…” Her words were drowned as milk started to go into her mouth. Lauren then ducked while at the same time laughing. I was too laughing to hard the my aim went extremely crook and instead aiming at Lauren’s mouth, it was at her ears.

“Clark..!”

“Hey, you are wasting good milk!” I said in a mock serious voice. Before I knew it, I fell off the stool from laughing too hard. Lauren couldn’t keep her balance because she too was laughing hard.

“I’m…going…to…get you…for that...Clark!” Lauren said in between laughs.

“Not unless I get you first!” I then started to tickle her.

I had no idea how we got like this, but soon Lauren and I was rolling down hill trying to tickle each other. We were laughing so hard that getting each other back didn’t matter. We were just rolling down hill tumbling on top of each other. When we reached down hill with a soft thud I found myself on top of Lauren. My heart was pounding hard against my ribs, I could hear Lauren’s doing the same as well. I leaned closer to her face….

“Where is Clark? He should be finish milking Miss Bessie, it couldn’t be that hard for him to milk a cow.” Jason said.

“I don’t know, Jason, can you go up to the fields and see where he is? Tell him that dinner’s ready.” Tina said getting the roast out of the oven.

Jason got off his chair and exited the yellow farm house. He walked up to fields.

“Clark!” Jason called out. He looked around, there was what looked like Clark on the ground with Lauren…

He then walked towards Clark. When he reached him, Jason couldn’t help it but to smile. “Hem hem.”

“Uh…We were…”

“Um…we were just…”

“Here’s your cell Lauren, it must have fell out of your pocket.” I handed Lauren’s cell back, slightly embarrassed. I could hear clicking noises coming from it.

“Thanks…”

“Oh stop pretending that you two weren’t kissing.” Jason said shaking his head.

“I better go…my parents will be wondering where I went.” Lauren said looking embarrassed.

“I’ll call you later on tonight about the movie times.” I was, I was avoiding Jason’s glare of pure proudness.

“Well well well, what were you doing there young man?” Jason said cheerfully.

“Shudup.” I said, but I couldn’t help smiling.

“Hmmm…kissing a girl with her laying on the ground while you were on top…oh this isn’t suspicious at all.” Jason said. “Okay, who are you and what the hell have you done to Clark Kent? Because you certainly improved him, a lot.”

“Shutup Jason.” I said as I opened the door into the house.

“Lauren, you got a bit of grass in your hair…plus why is your lip stick a bit smudgy?” Lana asked as her sister entered the room they shared.

“Ummm…” Lauren said nervously, “I was over at the Kent’s…”

“Yeah, you told me that before you left.”

“And…I was just talking with Clark…we were just mucking around that’s all…nothing much like rolling down a hill and kissing.” Lauren was a horrible lair; she couldn’t lie if she could help it.

“Right…well I’m sure you weren’t rolling around downhill and kissing.” Lana said.

“Yeah, we weren’t doing any of that stuff.” Lauren then got her cell out of her pocket and charged it.

“Um Lauren, your cell is on camera mode…” Lana pointed out.

“Huh? Oh…I must of accidently put it on camera mode…” Lauren said, she flipped her phone open. “You’re kidding…”

“Huh?”

“Uh- nothing.” Lauren shut her phone shut.

“What happened?” Lana asked.

“Um, something on my phone…fixed it…don’t worry.” Lauren said frantically deleting the images on her phone. She can’t believe that she left the phone on camera mode! And it was taking pictures when she and Clark reached down hill.

All of your Q’s will be answered soon…but not yet.

Chapter 3.

“Hey Jas! Hurry up!” I called out from the driver’s window in our SUV, I beeped the horn a few times. Damn him, we are surely going to be late if he doesn’t hurry up! We already missed the bus, and now this. What is he doing up there?

“Coming…geez.” I could hear Jason rushing down the stairs. Shortly he came out of the front door and jumped into the car.

“Took you long enough, may I ask, why am I getting a detention for being late for?” I asked slightly coldly as I reversed out of the driveway and onto the road.

“I couldn’t find my essay for Tate…it was actually under a few books on my desk.” Jason said. “Anyway, if you speed up a little we will get there with 10mins to spare.”

Jason and I walked up to the entrance. As we walked into the main corridor, I could see Lana and Matt together. It was a shock to see that I cringed a bit when Lana gave Matt a peck on the cheek. I was too focused on what Matt and Lana were doing to see that my girlfriend was right in front of me.

“So you have snapped back to reality with the rest of us mortals, have you now?” She said with a grin.

“Sorry, I kinda zoned out…” I said, I was trying to get rid of the shock before Lauren noticed it, but it just wouldn’t go.

“Hey, what’s wrong?” Lauren asked as we walked up the hall.

“N-Nothing.” I lied. “Anyway, are you free on Friday?”

“Well….kind of because I promised Lana I’ll be there for her because her boyfriend is moving.” Lauren said, “How about Saturday?”

“Sounds great.” I couldn’t help to smile.

“Whatcha grinning about?” Jason asked me raising an eyebrow.

“Nothing.”

“Almost forgot to tell you….that Matt guy, you know, Lana’s boyfriend, is moving to New York.” Jason said as if he was waiting for a reaction.

“When?” I said trying not to sound cheerful, but curious.

“I think….Friday?” Jason said, “I don’t know, Pete Ross told me.”

The days seemed to zoom pass, it was like as if some one had made the clock go 2 times faster and Friday had arrived surely enough. I walked out of my room sleepily but sort of cheerful. I had no idea why, maybe it’s because of the date tomorrow with Lauren. Yeah that’s probably it. I knocked a few times on Jason’s door. I could hear him stirring inside. Good, maybe we won’t be late today.

As Jason and I walked into the main corridor, early for once, I could see Lauren near a locker. She was talking to someone, and judging by the look alikeness it was probably Lana. I walked up to them.

“Hey.” Lauren greeted me.

“Um…I’m guessing there’s something wrong?” I said when I saw Lana’s face.

“So I guess you told him huh?” Lana said to Lauren.

“Yeah because he asked me if I wanted to go out on Friday.” Lauren said, “Plus he would have found out if I didn’t tell him. The whole school would know coz Matt told the team.”

“But um you could still call Matt and stuff…Jason still calls his girlfriend from CA.” I said trying to help. Oh wait, wrong thing to say! Jason is flirting a lot with other girls, and he tells his girlfriend that he misses her lots….oh damn!

“So you are saying, Matt is a cheater?” Lana snapped at me.

“No, not at all. Look, I mean no harm or anything, but what I was trying to say is, you can still call him and stuff. That’s what the telephone and the e-mailing systems are for.” I said crossing my arms, “Matt is definitely not a cheater.” Well, I think he won’t anyway.

“Sorry about that…I’m just so….frustrated that he didn’t tell me until this week.” Lana said.

“ ‘S ok.” I said, whew!

“Oh for goodness sake! Hey Jason! Jamie said she’ll call you today!” I yelled from the car window when I saw Jason surrounded by a small group of girls. Turning red, Jason walked back to the car quickly.

“What was that for?!” Jason said as he slammed the door.

“Well, you aren’t cheating on Jamie are you?” I said as I drove out of the car park.

“No, I was just…making friends with some girls.” Jason said innocently.

“So…asking someone out on a date is what you call ‘making friends’?” I laughed slightly.

“Um…a study date?”

“Nice try Jas, doesn’t fool me.”

“What ever Kent.”

“You know, you really can’t call me ‘Kent’ anymore really, considering you are living with a group of people with the last name Kent now.”

“I’ll call you what ever I want.” Jason said crossly, he was still embarrassed and mad from the little incident earlier on.

“Hey sis, why do you reckon Matt told you at the last minute?” Lauren said going into dangerous waters.

“Don’t know…but do you still reckon…Clark could be…wrong?” Lana said staring out of the window.

“Matt? Cheating on…you? That-is-the-most-stupidest-thing-ever!” Lauren said chuckling.

“They say long distance relationships can be…unfaithful.” Lana said still staring out of the window.

“So a stupid teen magazine said that, so what? Are you going to trust some stupid piece of paper instead of your own judgment?” Lauren said, “Lana, I know you better then this. There is something wrong. C’mon, I’m your sis, you know I won’t say anything to anyone about this.”

Yeah, there is something wrong but I don’t know what. I’m upset about Matt leaving, only because he didn’t tell me until this Monday, but strangely, I don’t miss him much. I thought I’ll be crying my eyes out but…I’m not… “There’s nothing wrong, don’t worry.”

“Okay, you sure sis?”

“Yeah.”

“That must be Clark…are you sure you will be okay?” Lauren said.

“Lauren, I’m not a 5 year old.”

“Okay…I think I’ll be back by 11. See ya sis.” Lauren then walked out of their room and downstairs to greet her date.

“I dunno, I think I should turn around and drop you home…Her boyfriend did just left for New York.” I said sort of worried.

“I know but still, she seemed okay before I left. But who knows? Maybe she’ll crack when no one is watching.” Lauren said, “But…maybe it’s a good idea to give her some space.”

“Yeah, I think you’re right. So, how about we just explore the town, I haven’t seen much of it besides the Talon and Smallville High.”

“Yeah, I’ll be your personal tour guide.” Lauren said smiling. There was a small silence between us, trying to make up small talk I asked “Um, so what does your parents do anyway?”

“My Dad works for a company called Ken Teag techs and my mom is a writer.” Lauren said. My inside felt like it leaped up to my throat. Lauren’s Dad works for his father’s company?!

“S-So I’m guessing y-you know quite a-a bit about writing and computers t-then?” I said trying to hide my nervousness.

“Not really, I love to write and Lana loves art. How about you and Jason’s parents? “ Lauren asked.

“Um….My parents and Jason’s run a…small company.” I lied, “Not really small but um not big enough to be you know, um global.”

Lauren laughed slightly, “Of course it can’t be global. Your parents would be…millionaires…no billionaires! You wouldn’t be attending Smallville High if they were.”

“ Um yeah.” I felt slightly uneasy.

Sorry for the looong wait guys. Like I said, sometimes thing pop up (more like fell down a fleet of stairs for me) and you can’t control what will happen (or what bone will break.) Also, I need your opinions, would you like:

A
Clana but one of them has a partner and is cheating on their partner.

B
One of them break up with their partner to have clana.

If Clark would of held off a lil longer then he wouldnt be in the situation of dating the sister of the girl he wants who's boyfriend just moved away.

Matt doesnt seem to be that great of a guy if he told Lana a couple days before he leaves. There relationship isnt going to last the distance between them.

Why would Clark feel uncomfortable knowing that Lana and Lauren's dad work for his dad's company???

Umm yeah, no need for Clark to be a cheater, so I choose B also.

like i said, all of your question will be answered....but only one will be answered now. Clark and Jason wants to keep a low profile, they haven't told anyone about being billionares. the only people in smallville (and probably metropolis too) that knows that clark and jason's dads are billionares are clark's uncle and aunt. you will also know why clark asked lauren out almost straight away when he found out lana had a boyfriend....later on in the story.

Chapter 4.

“So how was the night out?” Jason asked me when I climbed up the stairs up to the loft.

“It was cool, next time we go around shopping I know all the places.” I put on a grin on my face, and then quickly returning to a book I saw.

“Talking about shopping…won’t we have to buy Christmas presents soon?” Jason asked as he threw a tennis ball around.

“Oh snap!” I suddenly stood up, the book fell to the ground instantly and hit my feet. “Son of a-

“But, what do we buy your Uncle and Aunt?” Jason said cutting across my long stream of curses.

“I dunno. But erm we don’t have much cash. I only got a hundred left.” I said, I kicked the book across the other said of the loft. It opened up to the middle. It was a photo album? It definitely weighed more then a photo album. “I have to buy 3 gifts and I don’t have the cash for that and I’m not buying cheap gifts either.”

“We can just ring our parents up and ask them for a bit of cash-

“No. I will not ask help from them!” They left us here because they cared more about the friggin company. I will not ask help! “We can…We can get a job. We can earn a bit of cash from that. The Talon pays $300 a week. I think…just a week should do.”

“Are you sure? I think dialing some numbers and talking is easier then working-

“I AM not asking for money!” I yelled angrily.

“Okay okay. It was just a suggestion, no need to get all worked up about it.” Jason looked at me; strangely I cannot identify this look he gave me. It looked like a mixture of worried, confusion and well, I don’t know.

“So…what happened while I was gone last night?” I said changing the subject. I don’t want to confront Jason about my parents. It was a subject I rather avoid.

“Not much, the usual. I cried myself to sleep because I missed you sooo much.” Jason rolled his eyes at me.

“Right.” I threw the tennis ball back at him.

“Well, if something major did happen last night, you would probably know ‘cause your uncle would have told ya. So why bother asking?” Jason said, “But hey, I’m bored. What now?”

“I’m going out. ‘Think I’ll go and get that job at the Talon.” I grabbed the car keys off the desk and my jacket off the back of the chair. “Don’t know when I’ll be back.”

“K, just don’t come home too late. Or else I might cry myself to sleep again!”

“Shudup.” I caught the tennis ball and aimed for Jason’s head. Damn! It missed, but I’m sure where I hit him should hurt. After all, if you hit a guy in this particular place, it will hurt for sure.

My phone suddenly vibrated in my pocket. I got it out of jean’s pocket and checked the caller. Lauren.

“Hello?”

“Hi Clark, I was wondering if you can meet me at the Talon?”

“I’m actually on my way there right now, why is there something important?”

“Well, depends...”

“Well, I’ll see you in a few mins. Bye.” I always head people straight off on the phone when I’m driving. I can’t risk getting in a car accident at all, or else my Dad would probably kill me, that is if I survive the accident.

I spotted Lauren sitting at a table in the corner. I started to walk to her.

“Hey, so what’s this emergency about?” I asked her, was someone’s life on the line or something?

“Well, the principle asked if Lana and I could organize the Christmas Dance, and well. Matt is usually the one lifting the crops and stuff but now that he has moved to New York…”

“So you want me to help with the lifting?” I asked.

“Well, yeah. If you can, but you really don’t need to…”

“Nah, it’s okay. But, do you mind if Jason helps? Because back in CA” It was almost painful for me to even say ‘CA’, “Um sorry I almost lost my train of thought. Anyway can he help?”

“Sure. The more the merrier.” Lauren smiled at me, “Anyway, Lana should be here soon.”

“K”. Again my phone vibrated in my pocket. I grabbed it out and checked it. Great Jason needs something from town; wouldn’t it be more convenient if he asked me before I left? “I have to get something for Jason. Do you want to come or do you want to wait for Lana or something?”

“Well, she said she’ll meet us at the Talon at 6, its 5:30 now. We might have to be quick. Lana has a habit of coming early.” Something about what Lauren said stirred my memory. I don’t know what it was but it definitely stirred something.

“Hey, isn’t that Lana over there?” I pointed her to Lauren.

“Yeah, c’mon let’s go meet up with her!” We walked up to Lana. I could see some jocks in a SUV, wait they aren’t drinking, are they? Lana was crossing the street with her cell in one hand, she didn’t even noticed that the car was just-

“LANA WATCHOUT!” I ran as fast as I could and pushed Lana out of the way of the SUV. The last thing I heard was a screeching noise and someone screaming.

Clark’s memory

“But Mom! I don’t want to go to the farm!” A young Clark tugged on his mother’s leg, “Jason’s going to Malibu, can’t we go with him?”

“No Clark honey, we are visiting Uncle James and Aunt Tina for the summer holidays. We will spend next’s years summer holidays with Jason, I promise.”

“Okay.” Clark gave in.

“C’mon Son, we don’t want to be late for our flight.” Jonathan ruffled his son’s hair, “Let’s go!”

****Several hours later****

“Are we there yet Mom?” Clark said sleepily.

“Not yet. Go back to sleep, I’ll wake you up when we get there.”

“Okay.”

“Clark, honey we are here.” Martha said gently waking up her son. Clark let out a long yawn and rubbed his eyes.

“Hey, how’s my lil nephew doing? Come here and give your uncle a hug!” A man with dark hair said happily, Clark ran up to his uncle and jumped up into his arms.

“Uncle James!”

“Look at you! You look a lot bigger now. ‘Last time I saw you, you were only a little boy.” James Kent took off his straw hat and places it on his nephew’s head.

“Mom, where are we going now?” Clark asked his mom as they got into the car.

“We are going to visit some of our friends. I’m sure you will like playing with Lana and Lauren They are very nice girls-

“Eww! They don’t have cooties do they?” Clark scrunched up his face in disgust.

“No they don’t son.” Jonathan let out a small chuckle.

“Are you sure?” Clark asked his father.

“I’m very sure.”

“Okay.”

“Clark, why don’t you go outside and play with Lana and Lauren?” Martha asked her son.

“Can’t I stay here with you?” Clark whined.

“We are going to have an adult talk-

“Okay I’ll go!” Clark said. His mother led him outside into the yard where two girls sat talking happily. As they moved closer, Clark found himself tripping a lot.

“Well, play nicely okay?”

“Yes mom.” Clark said. He watched his mom as she walked back inside the house. Suddenly the two girls were looking up at him.

“You want to play house?” One of them asked.

“Lauren, he’s a boy, why would he want to play house? Besides I think he rather play something else then that!” The other one said.

“But Pete Ross plays house with the other girls!”

“That’s because Chloe Sullivan said that if he didn’t play house with them she will tell everyone about the time he wet his pants in 1st grade!”

“Oh yeah.”

“Anyway, I’m Lana and this is my sister Lauren.” Lana said getting up from her chair.

“Why do you two look like each other a lot?” Clark said frowning.

“That’s because we are twins.” Lana said, “So what’s your name?”

“Clark. I’m from California.”

“Really?”

“Yeah. I’m here to visit my uncle James and my aunt Tina. Do you know them?” Clark asked.

“Yup, they are our neighbors.” Lana said.

“Clark? Clark, can you hear us?” Was that Jason’s voice?

“What were those idiots doing? Drinking alcohol at 6pm!” I heard an outraged female’s voice.

“He only managed to get a few cuts and he broke his arm…” Yeah, that was definitely Jason’s voice.

I snapped his eyes open. What happened? Was that…all a dream? I did remember going to Smallville when he was 7, but I met Lauren and Lana? Why didn’t I remember all of this before?

“Clark, you scared us all.” Jason said in a shaky voice, “Next time if you are about to save someone, warn us please?”

“H-Hey, is Lana alright?” I asked. “I mean, she didn’t get hurt, did she?”

“Don’t worry, the only injuries I got from that accident is a small cut. Nothing life threatening.” Lana smiled as she entered the room. “Oh, I got to thank you for saving my life.”

“No problems.” I said smiling slightly.

Chapter 5

“Hey Jas, can you pass me that book?” I asked Jason.

“Sure Kent.” Sigh. He is still calling me that, sympathy anyone? I flipped thru the photo album for the 100th time, these photos were taken when I was in Smallville when I was younger. There wasn’t one photo of Lauren or Lana either. There wasn’t even a clue that I had met them.

“You know,” Jason began, “I think that dream you had or whatever, is actually a dream. It’s probably not even real.”

“How do you know? If it is real, I have to know, don’t I?” I said irritated of Jason’s stupid ideas.

“But how come you don’t even remember it? It’s weird isn’t it?” Jason said, “But besides, you were unconscious and stuff, it’s probably a dream anyways.”

“You’ll be unconscious soon if you don’t shut up!” I said angrily.

“Hey, how’s your arm?” Lauren asked me as I grabbed some of my books from my locker.

“Its alright- Lana?!” I thought it was Lauren who asked me, but it was actually Lana. Damn, wrong twin! And here I was about to kiss Lana! She gave me a confused look. “I erm thought you were Lauren. Sorry.”

“Don’t worry, even my parents get confuse between us sometimes. But anyway, I was wondering, will your arm be healed before the Christmas Dance?” Lana asked me.

“I think so. The doctors said it was a minor fracture. Just give it another 2 weeks.” I smiled at her, “Anyway, where is Lauren?”

“She’s in the gym helping out with the preparations for the dance.” Lana said.

“So aren’t you supposed to be there as well? I uh mean, not that I don’t enjoy your company or anything…” I said nervously.

“They insisted that I can take a break for today. They said something about me still healing from that car accident.” Lana said.

“So who are you are taking for the dance?” I asked Lana.

“I dunno, I think I should just sit there and watch the happy couples dance.” Lana said.

“Um right.” Was there some sarcasm in that sentence?

“No, I’m only joking. I think I’ll just go to see how the dance turned out.” Lana said.

“Hey guys!” A voice called out behind us. Now here was the real Lauren.

“Hello, so how did it go?” I asked her.

“A bit irritating, but otherwise, okay.” Lauren said. I putted my good hand around Lauren and gave her a peck on the check.

“C’mon Jason, I promised we will be there by 6. Hurry up for goodness sake!” I said knocking on Jason’s door. “Hurry up will ya- WAH!” Jason opened the door suddenly and I almost hit my head on the ceiling, “You-almost scared me!”

“Correction I did scared you.” Jason said, “C’mon, let’s go.”

“Finally!”

“Hey, I wasn’t that long.” Jason said frowning.

“You mean you spent 20 minutes doing your hair?” I looked up at Jason’s head, “It’s the same spike.”

“I was trying new styles. They didn’t work.” Jason said, “So why are we taking your uncle’s truck?”

“We have to put the crops somewhere. How can you put all those big crops in a SUV?” I said starting up the red pick up truck.

“Ah good point.”

“So who did you ask for the dance anyway?”

“Jasmine. You know that girl Lana sometimes talks to?” Jason said, “Well, when you and Lauren were talking, I asked her.”

“Well, does Jamie know about this?”

“We broke up ages ago.” Jason said looking straight ahead.

“Here we are Lang residents.” I said pulling up to the drive way.

“Clark! Jason! Hey thanks for coming.” Lauren greeted us.

“Hey, so where are the crops?”

“They are inside. C’mon, I’ll show you where they are.”

I led Lauren towards the dance floor; I could see Jason doing the same with Jasmine but Lana was no where in sight. I later spotted her alone on one of the tables. We locked eyes for a moment, even though that moment was brief, I could hear my heart beating faster and faster. Strangely, I felt like I was going to be sick, but that passed as fast as it came. And then, in a blur, I could feel myself dropping to the floor. And then black…

”Mom, can we go to the park please?” Clark begged his mother.

“Honey, finish your breakfast first. I promise we will go today.” Martha said to her son.

“Yeah! Thanks mom!” Clark said happily, he then scooped a spoonful of cereal into his mouth.

“So that means you don’t want to help me feed the animals today?” James Kent said to his nephew.

“Can I do both?” Clark said.

“How about you help me feed the animals and then you can go to the park?” James Kent suggested.

“Won’t he get a bit dirty from that?” Martha said.

“Don’t worry, I won’t take him anywhere muddy. I doubt there’s any mud really. There hasn’t been much rain recently.” James Kent said.

“There’s Lana over there, you want to go and play with her?” Martha asked her son when they reached the park.

“Okay!” Clark said walking up to Lana and Lauren.

“Hi Clark.” Lana greeted him.

“Hi, where’s your sister?” Clark asked.

“She’s at her friend Alicia’s house.” Lana said.

“Clark? Clark can you hear us?”

“What happened to him?”

“Don’t know. He just collapsed.”

“Weird isn’t it? People don’t just collapse randomly.”

“Yeah. I know”

“Clark? Clark wake up!”

I snapped my eyes opened. What happened?

“Clark, you feel okay?” Jason asked me as he helped me get up.

“Yeah…I think.” I said, what just happened?

“Hey, what are you looking at?” Jason told the crowd. Eventually they went away and back to the dance floor.

“I’m just going back to our table…” I told Jason and Lauren.

“I’ll go with you.” Lauren said.

“Lauren, how long was I out?” I asked her as I watched couples dancing to a slow song.

“Only a few minutes.” Lauren replied.

“I’m…sorry I ruined your night Lauren.” I told her sincerely.

“My night would have been ruined if you didn’t recover from that collapse Clark.” Lauren leaned against my chest. I kissed her gently on her forehead. But I couldn’t help thinking, what were those visions? I do remember helping Uncle James feeding the animals but I did not go to the park afterwards, or met Lana or Lauren. Were those visions real?

“Hey, why aren’t you two dancing?” Lana said taking a seat next to Lauren. A small disappointment grew inside me. I noticed Lana’s eyes were bloodshot. Was she crying?

“Didn’t you see what happened to Clark?” Lauren asked.

“I was um out of the gym for a few minutes. I had to get something.” Lana said quickly

“I collapsed, I still feel weak and I’m sitting here because I feel like I could collapse again.” I said jokingly. Lana laughed a bit, it was good the see her smile.

Chapter 6

“Merry Christmas Kent.” Jason said as I walked down the stairs.

“Merry Christmas Teague.” I said back.

“C’mon, we are about to open presents.” Jason said, I walked down to the living room where the tree was. I guess he was in such a good mood that he didn’t fight back. I smiled happily; this is the first Christmas in a long time where everyone is huddled around the tree. In the past, Christmas was just another day where my Dad had to go into the office and it would only be me and Jason.

“Thanks for the watch Clark, it looks absolutely beautiful.” Lauren smiled at me.

“A beautiful present for a beautiful girl.” I said with a grin. I kissed her lightly. “C’mon, it’s freezing here. My aunt is making hot chocolate.”

“So where’s Lana?” Jason asked Lauren.

“She’s at home with my parents.” Lauren said.

“Ah, okay.” Jason had a strange look in his eye that meant he was cooking up a plan in his head. Man I hate that look. His plans always involved me.

“Jason, what are you doing?” I asked him when I saw him muttering something under his breath.

“Nothing.”

“You can’t fool me.”

“Really? Can’t a guy talk to himself once in a while?” Jason asked me.

“I’m still keeping my eye on you.”

“What ever Kent.”

“So has Matt called Lana from New York?” Jason asked.

“Yeah.” Lauren suddenly looked slightly angry, “He called her during the Christmas dance. He broke it up with her. That idiot…”

“H-He did?” I said.

“Yeah, remember her eyes were bloodshot when she came and sat next to us?” Lauren said, “I asked her why when we came home. She told me.”

“That Matt guy sounds like a real jerk to me.” Jason said.

“We all thought he was a sweet guy, but he wasn’t such a sweet guy after all.” Lauren said.

“Let’s forget about this, it’s Christmas.” I said trying to change the subject.

“I think I better get home, my dad will send a search party if I don’t get home soon.” Lauren said.

“ ‘K, I’ll see you tomorrow then?” I said getting up to give Lauren a quick kiss.

“Definitely.” Lauren smiled.

“You know, pigs are very intelligent and clean, but most people don’t know about it.” Jason said as Uncle James was cutting the ham.

“Yeah, shame we can’t say the same thing about you.” I said, Jason then gave me a dark look.

“Hey-”

“-is for horses.” I completed Jason’s sentence. “You owe me one from this morning.”

“Okay. Fine you win.” Jason said, he then grabbed the last slice of ham.

“Oh, I almost forgot, this came in the mail for you two a few days ago. I thought I would give it to you two on Christmas Day just in case it was a Christmas present.” My Aunt Tina handed us a large parcel. When dinner finished, Jason and I went to the living room to open the parcel.

“C-Clark, this is….this has the KenTeag Techs stamp on it…you don’t think-?” Jason said to me in shock.

“That our parents actually remembered that we exist? Yeah, I’m surprised that they remembered we were here.” I told Jason. Suddenly Jason and I opened the parcel as if it had a bomb in it.

“What the fu-”

“A PS3?!” I exclaimed.

“Which imposters sent us this?”

“Is this an alternative universe?”

“No, someone must be blackmailing our parents to send us this!”

“I don’t think it was our dads, probably our moms.” I said, “I can’t believe this, they usually just give us money for Christmas.”

“Tekkan!” Jason exclaimed happily.

“What?! Your kidding!” My eyes bulged. Jason had been saving up for that game for ages.

“There’s another game in here….”

“This isn’t for real. Well, what are you waiting for? Plug it in!” I told Jason.

“So this was the source of that noise.” My uncle said coming into the living room.

“Um sorry Uncle James, we’ll turn it down.” I told him as I was getting the remote.

“It’s okay you two, just make sure you don’t spend all night playing it, okay?”

“Alright.” Jason said not paying attention to any thing my uncle just said

“But out of curiosity, who sent you it?” My uncle asked.

“Um, our parents. Actually our moms.”

“Okay. Well, good night you two.”

***Several hours later***(and cans of soft drinks)

“Hey Jason, what time is it?” I asked Jason after I won the round.

“2am.”

“Damnit! We stayed up that long?”

“How about one more round huh? Best 200 out of 300?” Jason asked me with the same enthusiasm.

“Okay fine.”

“I’m going to bed…c’mon if you play any longer the sun will come out.” I had to drag Jason away from the TV.

I went upstairs and brushed my teeth and got ready for bed.

”Honey, what’s wrong?”

“N-Nothing mom.” Clark said turning red.

“Okay, c’mon, eat your vegetables. I promise you can have ice cream for dessert if you finish up these carrots.”

“Okay…”Clark said shyly. Lana smiled at him across the table. His heart was pumping hard. He flushed even harder.

“So Jonathan, what have you been up to these years?” Lewis Lang asked.

“Dominic Teague and I have set up a computer company. It’s small, but we managed to make a living out of it.” Jonathan said.

“Ah yes, Dominic Teague. He was one of the best players in the football team back in high school, wasn’t he? I never knew he had an interest in computers.” Lewis Lang said.

“Neither did I, but he came up with the proposal.” Jonathan Kent said.

“Here, let me take care of the bill Lewis.” Jonathan said taking out his wallet.

“No no, I can’t. I’ll pay for it.”

“I invited your family, so I pay for it.” Jonathan said reaching for a few fifty dollar bills.

When everyone was outside, Lana and Lauren were talking and Clark stood just nearby while the Langs and the Kents talked. Clark could feel the heat that was coming from his face. Thank goodness it’s dark, or else people would have seen how red Clark’s face was when Lana came up to him.

“I was in love with Lana Lang?!” I suddenly woke up; sweat was dripping down my forehead. I checked my clock, only 8 in the morning. I guess I will go back to sleep for a bit. I’ll get up later to do my chores.

“Hey what time is it?” I asked Jason as I walked down the stairs. I have a small headache, geez, I knew staying up to 3 in the morning was no good.

“Uh 2 o’clock in the afternoon, why?” Jason said, his attention was still at the TV screen playing the PS3.

“Oh crap! I was supposed to meet Lauren an hour ago!” I ran up the stairs frantically. I quickly got changed and tamed my hair. I grabbed the keys and went out.

“Oh sh!t….” I whispered to myself when I reached the Talon. Lauren was no where in sight. But Lana was behind the counter.

“Clark. Hey, what happened?” Lana asked me.

“I slept in late today. Jason and I stayed up late last night. As in 3am late.” I told her.

“Gosh, what were you doing at 3am?” Lana asked me.

“Um, we were playing the PS3…” I told her, “But, please don’t tell me Lauren’s mad with me?”

“She’s gone home. But, I think you should give her some time before calling her, she might say something she will regret later on.” Lana said.

“That bad huh?” I said sitting down on one of the high chairs.

“You could say that.” Lana said wiping the bench top.

“Well,” I said sighing smiling slightly, “While I’m here, I might as well order something.”

“So what will it be?” Lana asked me.

“Just a small decaf please. I think I had my dose of caffeine to last a life time last night or morning.” I said, I then ruffled my hair a bit. It was no use seeing I wasn’t going on a date anymore.

“You know Clark, has anyone told you your hair looks better when it’s bit messy?” Lana said as she gave me my decaf.

“No, but I’ll keep that in mind.” I smiled at Lana, “Well, I better go. See you around Lana.”

“Hey, I thought you wouldn’t be back yet until later tonight.” Jason said when he climbed up the loft stairs.

“Change of plans.” I told him. Jason is my best friend and I can’t keep anything from him. “Let’s say you are in love with two girls, but you met them before. The thing is, when you met them before, you had feelings or a small crush on one of them, but then now you are dating one of them and you are confuse about-

Jason rolled his eyes at me. “For argument sake, let’s call them Lana and Lauren.” [A/N Hats off to those who recognize that line!]

“Um yeah. What would you do?”

“Just trust your heart Clark.” Jason said.

“I…I guess. But…it’s just silly. I had another one of those…visions. I had a crush on Lana Lang when I was about 8. Weird huh?” I told Jason.

“But why are you so worked up about it?” Jason asked me.

“Oh I dunno, I’m dating the sister of the girl I had fallen in love with when I was 8! And now I don’t even know what’s going on.” I said, “Jas, this is just so confusing.”

“Simple. You had fallen in love with Lana a long time ago. It’s over, just a little childhood crush. Nothing more right? Just go on with your daily business with Lauren. Nothing to fret about.” Jason said, he stretched his feet onto the table.

“Yeah, it…it was just a childhood crush.” I think it was anyway.

What a cute dream Clark had.

Love that Lana likes the messy hair look on Clark.

Chapter 7

I held Lauren close by as we watched the fireworks in the loft. I couldn’t help but smile when Lauren leaned closer to me; I kissed her lightly on the lips. Jason was right; I had a crush on Lana when I was 8. It was just a childhood crush, nothing more. But then, why did they resurface when I first saw Lana again in the telescope? I shook my head slightly.

“Hey, what’s wrong?” Lauren asked me.

“Huh? Oh nothing. Just…Just something. Don’t worry about it.” I told her.

“5…4…3…2…1 HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!” The radio practically roared.

“Clark, hey what’s up?” Said a voice behind me as I walked down the stairs for breakfast. I turned around; I am definitely delighted to hear that voice!

“Jake! Hey man, how’s Met U?” I said turning around to face my cousin Jake Kent. Like his father, Jake was tall and built (after all he grew up on a farm). He has an unusual appearance; unlike the Kent side (which almost all males have dark hair or blonde hair) Jake had honey blonde hair, like my aunt, green-blue eyes like me and slightly tanned skin.

“Not bad, not bad at all. Must I say about the girls?” Jake said smiling broadly.

“I saw the game on Saturday, nice touchdown Jake.” I said as a patted Jake’s back.

“Ah, it was nothing.” Jake blushed slightly.

“Nothing? You just won the Met U Sharks into the state grand final!” Jason said coming up from behind me.

“Why the big fuss? Fine, it was kinda big. I have been going to all these parties ever since.” Jake said sighing slightly, “I’m just here to hide out. You know, just getting a break from the university/partying/football life of mine.”

“I imagine it must be boring then.” I said sarcastically.

“Yeah. Very boring.” Jake rolled his eyes at me. “Sorry, I didn’t catch the story on why KenTeague Techs moved to Metropolis.”

“Your very stubborn uncle decided that it would make more profit if they moved the company in Metropolis, also he reckons it would be best if Jason and I stay here in Smallville, away from the high life.” I explained to Jake.

“Ouch.”

“You could say that. But…moving here has it’s…rewards.” I said grinning.

“You mean the PS3?” Jake asked.

“No, I could have gotten one easily in California, in fact I think I was about to buy one before we moved here.” I told Jake. Jason had disappeared somewhere.

“Ah, you mean the very beautiful Lang sisters.” Jake said, “Good choice by the way.”

“Okay, Jake you’re now freaking me out. You’re like 21 and they are 17.”

“No no. I could be arrested for that. I’m just saying, good for you cuz. So I’m guessing you bagged Lana?” Jake asked me. I frowned slightly.

“Um no. Try again.” I told Jake.

“Lauren? Last time I checked, she was dating that guy…Antony Gieger or something…” Jake said, “Anyway, I’m starving.”

“No, she broke up with him. Actually, I was about to ask Lana, but what’s his name….Mike? No, Matt was in the picture at the time.” I said as I helped myself to some waffles.

“But he moved to New York, didn’t he?” Jake asked me.

“If you know about Matt moving to New York, how come you didn’t know about Lauren and Antony?” I asked him as I grabbed the syrup.

“Matt’s parent’s own a company. When I heard about them moving to New York in the papers, I knew Matt probably moved with them as well.” Jake said.

“Okay. Anyway, do you remember me going to Smallville in 1998?” I asked Jake.

“No, I don’t think so.” Jake then looked at his mom.

“Okay.”

“Why the question? The last time you were here it was 2004; you were here for 2 weeks.” Jake said, his mouth was half stuffed with waffles.

“Clark here reckons he was here in Smallville in 1998, because he has these visions.” Jason said.

“And Jason here can’t remember where I was 10 years ago.”

“I can’t remember something 10 years ago Clark, I can’t that much.” Jason said.

“Okay, so Happy New Year guys.” I said after I finished my mouthful of waffles.

“Clark, what on earth are you wearing?” Jake asked me.

“Um clothes?”

“I think you’ll blend in with the snow with that white tee.” Jake said.

“Fine, I’ll make sure I won’t blend in.” I grabbed my red jacket and headed off.

“Hey, so a little birdie told me the infamous Jake Kent has come home from Metropolis.” Lana said when I walked up to the counter at the Talon.

“Yeah, and frankly, I don’t think the Kent Farm hasn’t been this crowd before.” I said smiling.

“So are your parents stopping by during the holidays?” Lana asked me. I almost slipped off the chair.

“Um no. They are…a bit busy with work. Jason’s as well.” I said trying to sound normal and not cold.

“So if they work in Metropolis, then why aren’t you and Jason attending Metropolis High?” Lana asked me, “Not that I want you two out of the town or anything.”

“It’s…complicated.” I said honestly, truly it was complicated. Suddenly, I could hear a burst of water coming from the back room. “Hey, I think the pipes in the back room are leaking or something…”

“Not again…you really do get what you paid for. The management paid for this really cheap plumbing service.” Lana said frustrated, she walked off into the room. I followed her.

“It’s just a small leak, nothing I can’t do…” I said examining the pipe as Lana squatted besides me. I took off my red jacket and laid it on the floor. I twisted the pipe anti clock wise but then a spurt of water came out.

“That’s the wrong way…”

I frowned slightly. I then twisted it clockwise. A bigger spurt of water came out.

“Lana, can you get me a wrench?” I asked her.

“Sure.” She walked off to get a wrench.

While Lana was gone, I tried blocking the water before the Talon costumers needed snorkels. I stood up slightly but I hit my head on the corner.

“Oww….”

“Here’s the wrench…and towels.” Lana said coming back.

“Yeah, thanks.” Lana handed me the wrench.

“Just a bit more….finished!” I said putting down the wrench on the floor. I grabbed the towel and stood up. I started to dry my hair slightly.

“Hey Kent, the girl at the counter told me you were here…” Jason came bursting thru the door. He raised an eyebrow when he saw me and Lana, both wet.

“Um yeah. I was just fixing a small leak for Lana.” I said.

“Right. Anyway, your Uncle needs our help back on the farm.”

“So what happened back there in the back room?” Jason asked me.

“Like I said, I was fixing a small plumbing problem.” I told Jason.

“Right.”

“What do you think we were doing?” I asked Jason, I grabbed another bale of hay and threw it onto the truck.

“Well…”

“News flash. I have a girlfriend. Lana and I are just…kinda friends.” I headed Jason off.

“Then why was she checking out your six pack?” Jason asked me.

“What? So Lana has x-ray vision now?” I asked Jason humorously.

“No, your WHITE shirt was wet. She was eyeing it while you were drying your precious hair.” Jason said, “It was kind of obvious.”

“Whoa, Miss Lana Lang did this?” Jake said when he walked up to us.

“Yeah she did, I caught Kent and Lana in the back room. Kent’s WHITE t-shirt was wet, and our innocent Lana Lang was eyeing it.” Jason said, I was sorely tempted to get a bale of hay and shove it towards Jason’s head.

“Whoa, she’s got it for you Clark.”

“No way. The girls back in CA were doing the same thing when Jason and I were surfing. They definitely didn’t have the hots for me then, because I was the school’s Dork/school reporter/nerd who surfs.” I told Jake.

“Right.”

“Man you are so wrong! First Lana and Lauren, and now this? What are you, bisexual?” Jason asked.

“Hey, watch what’s coming out of that mouth Teague!” Jake glared at Jason. I grinned, it was good to know there is someone on my side.

“Clark, where are you going? It’s freezing out there.” Jason said, finally! He actually called me by my proper name.

“I’m going up to the loft.” I said grabbing a thicker jacket.

“Why? You’ll freeze up there.” Jason said.

“But still, I have to do something up there.” I pushed past Jason and headed off to the loft.

“Ok, if you freeze up there I won’t de-frost you, okay?”

“Whatever.” I called back to Jason.

“Arrgh…this is hopeless…” I said as I looked at Lauren’s house in my telescope. Why did I think of this anyway?

“What exactly is hopeless?” Said a voice behind me. I knew for sure that it was a Lang twin. But which one?

“Uh…nothing.” I turned around. Wait, Lana?! “S-So what brings you up here?” Suddenly Lana came even closer towards me. Very close. “Err Lana….w-what are you d-doing?” I moved back a bit but Lana moved even closer to me. I gulped.

“You know…when you first moved here…” Lana began, I have a feeling where this is going. “I saw the way you looked at me.”

“Um….”

Lana leaned even closer. Okay, what just happened to personal space? She then leaned up towards me kissed me softly. She only kissed me softly, but I kissed her back more eagerly. I sucked on her bottom lip, making her moan slightly. I was about let Lana’s tongue in for entrance and-

“CLARK! Clark…hello?” Jake was waving furiously in front of my face.

“Wah? Um what happened?” Oh man, that was just a dream. I found myself laying down on the red couch in the loft. Man, its freezing.

“Clark, finally. We thought you froze to death or something. I have been trying to wake you up for nearly 15 minutes now.” Jake said helping me up. “You know what really amazes me? That the fact that you can sleep thru the cold so easily.” Jake shook his head.

This is a major turning point in the story.

Chapter 8: Metropolis.

“So tell me again, how did you sleep pass that blizzard?” Jason asked me.

“I told you…I went up to the loft for some quiet thinking. I was tired so I lay down on the couch and I fell asleep.” I said impatiently.

“Ah, okay.” Jason said, slightly satisfied with my answer. I got out my cell and dialed Lauren’s number.

“Hey.”

“Hey yourself.” I smiled. “I was wondering, you want to go horse riding this Saturday? I finally learnt to ride a horse without it kicking me.”

“Sure. So what time?”

“How about…11-ish, sounds good to you?”

“Yeah. See you Saturday then.”

“Okay. Bye.” I grinned to myself. All those bruises and kicks were more then enough just to hear Lauren smile.

“Kent Farm, James Kent speaking.”

“You know how many times I told you to change it?” Jonathan Kent said to his brother slightly coldly.

“So what do you want? Are you calling to torment your son’s life or are you moving them to a remote island now?” James said equally cold.

“No, I just want to talk to my son. Or am I tormenting his life by doing it that as well?”

“Fine I’ll get him.” James Kent said, he put the phone gently on the table and walked upstairs to get Clark.

“Clark.”

“Uncle James, hey. I’ll go and-”

“No I’m not asking you to do a chore. Your father is on the phone.” James Kent did not smile like he always does when he is usually talking to his only and favorite nephew.

“Umm…okay.” Jason shot me worried look. I shrugged and followed my uncle downstairs.

“Hello?”

“Clark, firstly, how are you?” Dad asked me in a business like tone.

“I’m…fine.”

“Good. Good. Well, I’m sending down a limo on Saturday. I need to speak to you about your college…Jason as well.”

“S-Saturday? What time?” I asked him fearing the worse.

“10 o’clock sharp.”

“What?!”

“Do you have a problem with this?” Jonathan said raising an eyebrow.

“Yeah, I’m going on a date.”

“I don’t care about your personal life. That date of yours can wait. You will be in Metropolis by 1pm Saturday. You understand me?”

“No, can’t this meeting of ours wait?”

“I’ve cancelled one too many meetings for this.”

“I don’t care. That’s your problem not mine.” I told my dad defiantly.

“You will be in Metropolis. I also have to discuss a matter with you…I am to fire 150 men in Smallville. I need your opinion. Especially on,” Jonathan got out a folder. “Lewis Zachary Lang.”

“I…” I knew if Jason and I weren’t in Metropolis on Saturday, Lana and Lauren’s dad might not have a job. “Fine…” Like they said, you will sacrifice anything for love…I think.

“Clark hey…I was wondering if you wanted to hang out? My shift ends in 5 minutes.” Lauren said when she saw Clark come up to the counter at the Talon.

“I..I…” I stuttered slightly, I couldn’t even look at Lauren in the face without my guilty face coming on. I looked away for a brief moment. “Look I can’t…I’m a bit busy…I have things I have to do…and well. About this Saturday…” I knew how long Lauren and I were waiting for this date. It was a very long and physically painful wait. It was that or go and save Lauren’s dad job in Metropolis. I looked up at Lauren with a guilty face.

“Hey, what’s wrong?” Lauren asked me, she took my left hand into hers. I took it away abruptly. Lauren looked at me, worried.

“I can’t make it…I have other things to do this Saturday. They are really…important to me. I really wanted to come but I just can’t…Look I’m really sorry, but I just can’t…” I looked at Lauren, “It’s not like I had a choice. If I didn’t attend this…then lives will be…ruined.”

“Well, can you at least tell me where you going or what your doing?” Lauren asked me.

“I can’t.” I told her, “I’m sorry but I can’t.”

“No it’s…okay. It’s not like I was looking forward to this Saturday or anything.” Lauren took off. I slumped down on one of the chairs. Why…why can’t my parents just stay here in Smallville instead of moving to California? Why?

Lana watched her sister and Clark, she frowned slightly. Did this guy know how much her sister looked forward to spending time going horse riding with him?

“You know,” Lana said walking up to Clark. Clark looked up at her; he still had that guilty look on his face.

“So I screwed up, okay? Is that what you wanted to hear?” I told Lana sharply. Ouch, that sounded mean.

“Partly yes and no. Yes, it’s actually good to hear that you know what your mistakes are, unlike most guys. But did you know how long Lauren waited for this?” Lana asked me.

“Um 2 days?” I said playing stupid.

“My sister actually wanted her first date with you going horse riding. But when she saw you trying to ride a horse, she figured it’ll be a health hazard for you. She looked forward to this for a long time.” Lana told him.

“I have other things to do. They matter more to me then her.” I said without thinking. It took me some time before I realized what I said. Lana looked at me with a shock and disgusted look and then she slapped me. “That didn’t come out right.” I rubbed my cheek. I guess I did deserve that.

“What were you going to say? Ouch or Oww?” Lana asked me coldly.

“No, the part about ‘I have other things to do. They matter more to me then her’ part.” I explained, “What I meant is…why am I even explaining myself to you for?” I looked up at Lana. “First you come up to me, demanding why I can’t go on a date with your sister which is none of your business.” I walked out of the Talon, frustrated and mad.

“Now that we gone thru your college plans…now onto the jobs.” Dominic said straightening the files.

“Ah yes. So tell me, what do you think of Lewis Lang?” Jonathan asked his son.

“He’s a great guy, a great father. He is honest and loyal.” Jason said.

“He can’t be fired. You just can’t because he is your friend!” I told my Dad.

“Just because we went to the same high school does not mean he is my friend.” Jonathan said.

“Then tell me why you invited him and his family to dinner on the 14th of September 1998 at Metropolis?” I asked my dad.

“I never went to Metropolis in 1998.” Jonathan said firmly.

“Really? So you won’t deny that you stayed at the Kent Farm? So you won’t deny that the Teagues went to Malibu for the summer while we went to Smallville?” I asked my dad. I saw a drop of sweat climb down my dad’s face. It was true he was under pressure now.

“Lewis Lang won’t be fired. Now back to Smallville, the both of you.” Dominic ended the conversation. Jason and I left the room. We hated our father’s business plans, and anything that has got to do with it.

“Metropolis wasn’t that bad. We should have gone to one of those night clubs. I bet Jake knows some good ones.” Jason said when we were getting out of the limo.

“Yeah. What ever you say Teague. But, the next time we go there, we should bring some cash.” I said.

“Oh and I think they might pass you as a 21 year old.” Jason said, “Maybe me as well…I dunno. What do you think?”

“I bet Club Atlantis’s cool. I heard Jake say that it was his favorite.” I said stretching, “Or we could go to one of those malls.”

“Nah. I want to go to Club 5. Do you think I can pass as a 21 year old but?” Jason said.

“Maybe.” I looked around. I stumbled back slightly. Lauren was there, and by the looks of it, she heard our conversation. And now, she thinks I went to Metropolis with Jason to have some fun instead of going horse riding with her. “Lauren, no this is not what you think it is…please”

“So you went to Metropolis to have fun with your buddy? And I thought you said lives will be ruined if you didn’t go…” Tears streamed down her face.

“I…It was true. Lives would have been ruined if I didn’t go.” I tried to explain, “But please, you got to believe me. Jason and I were just talking about Metropolis…” Lauren just walked away back to her car and drove off. Our relationship had officially taken a massive blow. Jason just looked at me.

“Clark, I think you should just…give her time now.” Jason said.

“You think?” I told him bitterly.

Why couldnt Clark just tell her he had family issues to deal with with his dad in Metropolis?

So Clark is litterally going to be pushed into Lana's arms?

Chapter 9.

--------------<Smallville High>-----------------

“Ah, history is right after this period.” Jason said slightly horrified. “Make sure you get some caffeine because I’m sure Hult is going to bore us to sleep with some lecture on the ancient Greeks or something.”

“But at least the Lang sisters are in the class with us.” I said sounding a bit hopeful. I haven’t spoken to Lauren since Saturday, but I have talked with Lana. If you count ordering coffee talking.

“And Chloe Sullivan.” Jason said grinning.

“She’s taken Teague.” When will he ever give up?

“But still.” Jason shrugged, “A guy can be hopeful can’t he?”

“What ever.” I sighed. Sometimes I wonder why Jason and I are friends.

“C’mon, we want good seats at the back so that Hult doesn’t see us falling asleep.” Jason said, he grabbed a book out from his bag and started reading.

“Jason Teague reading a book, this is a rare sight.” I laughed.

“Hey, I’m just making sure I know a bit about the ancient Greeks. Just incase Hult asks me a question when I’m not listening.” Jason said, “Who the heck is this Zeus guy? They sure talk about him a lot…”

“Where have you been the whole year? Zeus is the Leader of all the Greek Gods.” I shook my head, Jason is probably going to fail this class. I then sat myself down on a desk with Jason. I usually sit next to Lauren in this class but, under the circumstances, I would be lucky if I can get near her.

“Now when I call your name, please come up to my table and draw out a name out of the hat. That person will be your partner for this assignment, the reason why I’m doing this is because when you had the free will of choosing your partner, some were very lazy during their partnership.” Hult paused and looked at Jason, Jason sank slightly into his chair, “Anyway back to the list. Chloe Sullivan.”

“Um Jason Teague.” Chloe said unsure if this was a good or bad thing. Jason was probably celebrating inside his head.

“Daniel Smith.”

“Pete Katings.” Daniel hi-fived Peter, Pete Katings plus Daniel Smith plus doing assignment together equals a D, if their lucky a C-.

“Clark Kent.” I walked up to Hult’s desk and pulled a name lazily out of the hat. When I unfolded the small slip or paper, I re-read it a few times quickly.

“Um Lana Lang.” I looked over at Lana, she seemed equally shocked, but probably not in a good way.

---------<Outside the Talon>-------------

“Well, at least you managed to get a Lang.” Jason said. “I swore I could hear some of the boys behind us sound a little disappointed when you announced her name.”

“Yeah but still, it’s going to be hard working with someone who is mad at you.” I shoved my hands into my pockets.

“Maybe, maybe not.” Jason said. I noticed that he was a bit more cheerful ever since Chloe drew his name out of the hat. “C’mon let’s go to the Talon, I’m freezing.”

“Umm…you go ahead. I’ll got to go home, I think I still have chores.” I lied. The truth was, Lauren is doing her shift now, and I didn’t really want to face her now.

“Ahh c’mon. How am I going to get home?” Jason asked me.

“Get a cab.”

“I didn’t bring my wallet.” Jason said.

“Then why are you even here?” I asked him.

“That’s the reason why you’re staying.” Jason grinned.

“Damn you Teague.” I grudgingly followed Jason inside the Talon. As we entered, Lauren looked at the entrance to see who just came in. Ours eyes met for a few seconds before she looked away.

A waitress soon came up and took our orders, two hot chocolates and a slice of cake for Jason. I looked up, the other employees were busy while Lauren was free. I have to take my chance to explain to Lauren. Jason knew what I was trying to do and ‘accidently’ spilled some his hot chocolate on himself.

“You owe me one Kent.” He muttered so softly that only I can hear. “Ahh!” Lauren had no choice but to come over and clean up some of the mess.

“Lauren please just let me explain myself at least.” I told her sincerely, but she just looked away. I grabbed her wrist. She then turned around and looked at me.

“We have a right to refuse customers service. And I’m afraid you’ll have to leave if you don’t let go of me.” Lauren told me. I retrieved my hand.

“I was in Metropolis because I had certain problems over there. Jason as well. The limo is my dad’s, he didn’t want Jason and I to drive over to Metropolis because of the weather. That was all I was doing there. I didn’t go out and have fun with Jason, I didn’t go to night clubs or anything.” I explained myself. “That’s the truth, you got to believe me.”

“He isn’t lying you know.” Jason said butting in.

“Then why didn’t you just tell me that? Lana told me what you said after I left. How could you?” Lauren just walked off. No matter what, I think it’s going to take a long time to fix this. Well, at least I didn’t get slapped. I sighed deeply. What did I get myself into? I left a 20 dollar note on the table.

“When you finished, pay the bill with this. I’m just going to take a walk around the shops. Ring me when you’re done.” I told him. I took one glance at Lauren, and then walked out of the Talon.

I walked passed several shops, just thinking, if I brought this or that, would Lauren change her mind slightly? But I have a feeling that Lauren is the type of girl who isn’t swayed by gifts or flowers. Maybe by flowers if we weren’t like this. I shook my head, I promised myself I won’t get myself all worked up by girl trouble back in California, but when did I actually date someone in CA? I felt my phone vibrate slightly in my pocket, Jason must’ve finished. I walked back to the Talon.

“C’mon Kent, let’s go.” Jason said wiping his mouth with a napkin.

“Hello to you too.” I rolled my eyes.

Next day at Smallville High……..

I grabbed some books from my locker and walked down the hall with Jason yapping about something I had no idea about. It was probably about his ideas to seduce Chloe Sullivan or something. Poor Chloe, what did she do to get a partner like this?

“Lauren at 12’o clock.” Jason muttered. Maybe I can apologize for lying to her. I made my way to Lauren’s locker.

“Lauren, look I’m sorry for not telling you about the truth about why I had to go to Metropolis, but believe me, you don’t want to get involve with…my family and it’s issues. Those issues are best kept as a secret. ” I told her, it was true.

“Secrets and lies destroy a relationship Clark. And I’m afraid secrets and lies did a massive blow to ours.” Lauren told me, she walked away with some of her friends. I was just standing there, staring at the back of Lauren. Why does she always make it so complicated?

“Kent! Teague, you’re up for the ropes.” Simpson barked at Jason and me. I saw the girls walk passed just a few meters away. Lauren and her friends were chatting away, trying to get one of Lauren’s friend to get Lauren’s attention to me, I strained all of my muscles as I climbed up the rope.

“Lauren, seriously Kent is a real hottie. Look at his abs, girl I have no idea why you two are on a break. Because if I was his girlfriend, I wouldn’t let go of him for anything.” Cindy told Lauren.

“I didn’t go for the muscles, I went for the personality. And now, frankly the personality is turning me off.” Lauren said.

I heard what Lauren said, a small disappointment grew inside me.

“Kent! If you don’t make it to the top you will be doing laps for me!” Simpson yelled.

“Yes sir.” I made my way up the rope.

“So when are you going to start your project?” Jason asked, he played around with a piece of french fries.

“I don’t know.” I told him, I took a drink from my bottle of water.

“Chloe and I are getting together to do it at The Torch later on.” Jason grinned.

“I’ll tell my uncle about that then, I’ll cover for you at the farm then.” I told Jason, why I had to pick Lana’s name out of the hat. It would be easier if I had had gotten someone else.

“Thanks Kent. What about you and Lana?”

“What about me and Lana?” I asked.

“Aren’t you going to like get together to do this project?” Jason asked.

“You know, I never seen you so excited about school work before.” I told him.

“Don’t change the subject Kent. So are you going to get together or anything?” Jason asked me.

“Um, to tell you the truth, I haven’t spoken to her about it.” I told him.

The next day, I found Lana by her locker getting some books. Jason nudged me a bit; it’s either now or never. I walked up to her, would she ignore me? There’s only one way to find out.

“Lana, hey, I just wanted to talk to you about our assignment.” I said a bit nervously, “Look, I know Lauren and I am not exactly lovely dovey right now but I was wondering do you want to get together or something for our assignment?”

“I know, but I was going to ask Hult if I could get a different partner.” Lana said.

“Wait, w-what? Lana, please c’mon. You can’t just let something between me and Lauren ruin our sorta friendship.”

“What you did to Lauren I don’t think will pass thru me easily.”

“Look, I apologized to her about it. I…she just keeps making it more complicated.”

“I’m not sure but, maybe if you stopped by the Talon tonight, we could some of it done.” Lana said changing her mind.

“Alright. See you tonight then.” I grinned and walked off with Jason.

“So I’m guessing things went well with Lana then?” Jason asked me.

“Yeah, we’re getting together tonight at the Talon to work on it.” I told him, I felt like a huge weight had lifted off my shoulders. I can breathe slightly easier now.

I think everybody is hiding something from Clark. :\
IDK I'm still majorly confused about Clark's flashes and and people telling him none of it happened...

Lauren is bit annoying.
Can you please make Clark and Lauren officially OVER SOON? :(

I think Chloe and Jason would make kind of a cute couple.

Chapter 10: Realization.

I walked into the Talon, strangely I felt slightly nervous and yet an unknown feeling. My heart was pumping faster but yet slower and my hands were slightly sweaty. I shook my head slightly; get a grip on yourself Clark! It’s just a little study um date. I soon spotted Lana sitting by a table reading a book.

“Hey.”

“Clark, hey.” Lana put her book down on the table. She took out her notes and books.

“…and that was the Hellenics period…”

“…yep, I put it down…”

“And we’re…done.” I doubled checked the book. We’ve got everything down; tomorrow we can work on the next page. I closed up the books and folded my notes.

“So Lauren told me you had issues in Metropolis. What kind?” Lana asked me. I froze for a second. Now how am I going to answer this? I had to think fast now.

“I…I…My issues. Um right.” I stumbled out, “You could call them family problems.”

“Do you want to talk about it?” Lana asked me. Do I or do I not lie to her about it? Let me see, problems with Lauren, and a chance that Lana and I’s friendship could go down. I can’t risk it. This bond with the Langs means something to me, I don’t know why but.

“I…My dad and I aren’t what you call ‘like father, like son’.” I laughed joylessly, “And our opinions are not exactly, agreeable, so making as drift apart easily. My Dad wants me to take over his company and stuff but I just don’t want to. It’s like he is trying to control my destiny.”

Lana just listened intently.

“But yeah, so there was an emergency up in Metropolis and it was just something I couldn’t avoid.” Why is it easier to open up to Lana then Lauren? Why? Lauren is my girlfriend for the time being and Lana is just a friend, sort of. I frowned, why do I get those flashes of stuff that never happened? I mean, in those flashes my parents were actually parents. It must have been an alternative universe or something.

“Hey, what’s the matter?” Lana asked me.

I snapped out of my thoughts. “Don’t worry, it’s nothing. But actually,” I thought I would just give it a shot. “Do you remember James Kent’s family visiting Smallville during the summer in 1998?”

“No.” Lana said quietly.

“Are you sure?”

“Yeah.” Lana looked up at me, “My best friend died that year.”

“I…I’m sorry for bringing those memories up…”

“No, no it’s okay.” Lana said now smiling slightly.

“You know,” I began, I looked at Lana, emotions now running thru my body, pulsing thru my blood like a drug, “It’s actually great to tell someone this besides Jason. And well, Jason and I have the same issues with our Dad…you know with the business partner thing.”

“I thought you told Lauren all about this?” Lana asked me.

“No,” I said softly, “I just couldn’t find myself telling her this.”

“Why?”

Again with the Whys, what is this? International Why? Day? “I don’t know. I just can’t. I guess there are certain things you can tell your friends and not your close ones.”

“Yeah…”

“Yeah…” Both Lana and I leaned closer to each other. Each inch was like a mile that you were willing to go. Every single little moment. At first it was just an innocent kiss, but it no longer stayed innocent. I was thankful that the Talon wasn’t crowd, the only people there were the staff (of all whom don’t go to Smallville High) and a few other customers that look like they are too old to be seniors. The kiss depended, from innocent to passionate. And from passionate to…what ever was next. We then separated for air.

“Wow…” I gasped.

It was like Lana had taken in on what she had just done. She. Kissed. Her. Sister’s. Boyfriend. How could she have done this to Lauren? How? WHY did she let it go to that level? Why didn’t she just resisted Clark?

I could tell what Lana was thinking judging by her face.

“Lana, Lauren and I are on a break. We are almost finished. I…it’s not like I was cheating on her…” I felt slightly dizzy. I shook it off easily.

“But…I can’t just go around and…I…”

“Hey…” I took Lana’s hand into mine. “We did nothing wrong. And to tell you the truth, I really think Lauren will break it off with me.”

“But you are moving on with me…it’s not right Clark…”

“Why? Do you always sacrifice your own happiness for other people?” The dizziness came back. This time I can’t shake it off.

“I…Clark? You okay?” Lana started to worry; Clark was barely sitting up right on the chair.

“Lana…I…argh…”

Clark fell backwards into his chair, his eyes dazed. Lana tried to push him up right but he was too much for her. As he fell, he banged his head hard on the table right behind him. He was knocked out instantly when his head hit the table.

“CLARK!” Lana frantically called 911.

A young Clark made his way to the Lana and Lauren’s house with his mom. He didn’t understand why his cousin Jake didn’t want to come. He kept asking but his mom told him he had football practice. Clark liked football and stuff, but the bigger boys didn’t let him play with them. They said he was too little to play and that if they needed a tackle dummie they will ask him.

When they arrived at the Lang household, Clark made his way to the back yard where Lana and Lauren are playing. He heard more then two voices. There was another girl here playing.

“Hey! Clark is here!” Lana exclaimed, delighted. Clark blushed.

“This is our friend Clark, Emily.” Lauren said.

Emily frowned, “But he’s a boy. Why are you friends with a boy?”

“It doesn’t matter because Clark is really nice and is not like the other boys!” Lana defended.

“Are you sure?” Emily asked.

“Yes!” Lana said.

“Okay. You’re my best friend, you won’t lie to me anyway.” Emily smiled.

“So what do you want to do?” Lauren asked.

“Lets go to the river!” Emily said.

“But it’s going to rain soon.” Lana said worried.

“Don’t worry, we will be back when it rains.” Emily said taking Lana’s hand.

“I will go and ask my mom.” Clark said going back to the house.

“No! Don’t worry. We will be back soon. We are just looking.” Emily insisted.

“Okay, but my mom told me not to go anywhere without telling her or anything.” Clark said worrying.

“No it’s okay. Don’t worry Clark.” Emily said.

“Okay…”

“Lana it’s raining.” Clark said, he was now worrying, again.

“I know. We have to go back now Emily!” Lana said tugging on Emily’s sleeve.

“Hey, I’m Lauren!”

“Sorry Lauren. But where’s Emily?” Lana asked her sister.

“She’s going to put a flower boat we made down into the river.” Lauren said. “I can’t see where she is.”

“Guys I’m over here!” Emily called out.

“It’s getting too slippery here.” Lana said.

“Emily we have to go back.” Lauren pressed.

“No wait. Let me put this boat down first.” Emily pulled Lana off and walked to the gap where there wasn’t any fencing.

“No Emily!”

“Don’t worry.” Emily knelled down and put the flower boat down the river.

“You will slip but!” Clark called out.

“No I won’t silly.” Emily smiled back at them. She releases the flower boat and got up. But the ground was too slippery and she slipped into the river and was swept away easily but the current. Lana wanted to jump in and save her best friend but she wasn’t a good swimmer. Lauren too and Clark wasn’t used to these types of waters. He was a good swimmer in a pool or in the waves on a beach.

“EMILY!” Lana said hysterically.

“EMILY CAN YOU HEAR US?” Lauren yelled, tears running down her face. It was hard to tell if it was the rain or it was the tears that were running down Lana and Lauren’s face. There was no reply from Emily. No signal of anything. Emily had drowned and that was it.

“I can’t see her!” Clark said, even though he had not known Emily for a long time, he was still shocked and sad that she had drowned.

“Is this what happened Clark?” An officer asked him gently.

Clark rocked back and forth, the memory of Emily had distraught him beyond comparison. Lana and Lauren were distraught, but not as much as he was.

“Yes. She slipped and fell into the water.” Silent tears ran down the young boy’s face.

“I don’t give a damn on how much it cost!” Jonathan shouted, “I want those memory erased. I don’t care, just do it. I don’t care how much it costs, I don’t care. Just do it!” Jonathan was almost begging the scientist.

“But the risks, if any one of these young children share similar feelings during the time you came to Smallville and to the time of Emily’s death, these memories can come back step by step.” The scientist warned, “This could lead to adult hood depression, or worse child hood depression if it comes back too early.”

“JUST DO IT PLEASE! My son is beyond distraught, I just want my Clark back!” Tears ran down Jonathan Kent’s face.

“As you wish.” The scientist flicked on the switch.

“It’s…done but wait,” The scientist ran thru the system checking for errors. “It worked…”

“What do you mean it worked?” Jonathan asked him, “Was this some sort of trial?”

“I…It was sir. The memory completely erased from Lana Lang and Lauren Lang. They can only remember that their friend Emily drowned. Clark Kent, Martha Kent, and Jonathan Kent never came to Smallville or anything.”

“That’s a relief doctor, but what of our son?” Martha asked.

“He…like I warned, he cannot feel any of these strong emotions.” The scientist said, “That will trigger the memory…”

“What do you mean?”

“Love, distraught, and a strong burning feeling of love cannot be felt again by Clark. I’m sorry.”

“Strong burning feeling of love? Are you saying my son had…”

“Apparently he had. It’s all here….”

“But that will mean…we cannot show him any…” Jonathan was broken.

“I’m afraid not.”

I snapped my eyes open, my vision was slightly blurry but it sharpened again. I found myself in hospital, both my aunt and uncle were by my side while Jason was sitting on a chair in the room. I could see Lauren and Lana faintly outside.

“Clark!” Jason rushed up and gave me a brotherly hug. I could tell that he had shed some tears. I just bumped my head on a table and feel asleep. That was it, why is everyone so worried? As Jason hugged me, a dull headache came up.

“As much as I am enjoying your um company, I prefer it if you didn’t hug me as tight.”

“Ah, okay.” Jason released me instantly.

“And you’re free to go Mr. Kent, but try to be more careful and avoid falling over and bumping your head.” Dr. Bryce said as I put on my coat.

“Yes Doc.” I got off the bed and exited the room.

Lana and Lauren were sitting anxiously, waiting. When Lauren looked up, she almost ran up to me. I embraced her in a hug, I held her tightly. I could feel tears running down Lauren’s face.

“Shh, I’m here now…”

“Clark…I was so worried. The doctors said you had a chance of slipping into a comma…I’m so sorry about the way I acted in the pas few days…”

“Lauren it was my fault, not yours…I should have told you…” I looked pass Lauren. Lana was just standing there. Our eyes locked.

We shared a moment
It was short but it told us so
It told us who we are
What lies ahead
And I now know that
It was you all along
It has always been you

I guess Lana didn’t tell Lauren what happened before I fell. It was a moment to last. Both Lana and I didn’t break the eye contact; I just stood there, still hugging Lauren, wiping away her tears.

It has always been you
No matter what
You are the one I want
You are the one I need
So Cut to the Chase
I don’t want to be tested
I don’t want to be acknowledged
I just want to be with you
It has always been you

Lauren and I separated from our embrace. Jason came up and said something, I didn’t listen. It was as if my hearing was switched off, all my senses were switched off. It was just me and Lana.

Cut to the Chase
I don’t want someone else
But all I need is you
But of that
I must confess
We can’t be together
Too many people
Too many broken hearts

“Clark?” Jason said waving his arm.

“Huh? Sorry, I…tuned out.” I said, “Lauren, I just need some time to recover from this. I’ll talk to you tonight.”

“Okay.” Lauren kissed me on the check. She then walked off with Lana. Both Lana and I looked at each other briefly.

It has always been you
No matter what
You are the one I want
You are the one I need
So Cut to the Chase
I don’t want to be tested
I don’t want to be acknowledged
I just want to be with you
It has always been you

But too many people
Too many broken hearts
I will wait for an eternity
For you, if I must
Because it has always
Been you.

That cleared up alot. Thanks

Guess Jonathon didnt expect Clark to get his memories back.

But his decision to fhave all of there memories erased was not a good one.

Wonder when and if Lana and Luren will start to get there's as well.

By Clark and Lauren's interaction at the hospital it doesnt seem that they will be breaking it off soon:\

Ahh! A family crisis has happened and I have to fly to Vietnam on Monday, and unfortunately there isn't any internet access or a computer access where I am staying. I will be there for 2 weeks, I might go down to a local internet cafe and check out the forums, but other then reading updates I won't be updating any of my stories (on which I have neglected except for Cut to the Chase). Even more bad news, I start my job almost straight away after I fly back from Vietnam, so again there won't be much updates for ages.

Chapter 11

-------<Metropolis>----------

Jonathan Kent leaned back in his chair. It had been a hard day in the office and now, it was getting late. He took one glance at his watch, 11:30. He relaxed slightly in his chair before the phone rang.

"Sir, James Kent is on the phone for you." Jonathan bolted right up from his chair.

"Put him on the line."

"Jonathan."

"James, what drove you to call me so late at night?" Jonathan grinned, "Did I destroy my son's life by talking to you?"

"Jonathan, you can drop that act now." James said, "Clark has got his memories back."

Delight was evident on Jonathan's face. "Excellent."

"But what about the Langs?" James asked, "Will they get their's back?"

"No. Proffesser Corby has assured me. The Langs will not recover any of their memories."

"And what of Proffesser Corby and his family?" James asked, "They are good people. You didn't need to scare them into moving."

"Don't worry, I'll tell them they can move back to Smallville. It's now safe for them." Jonathan made a small note, get the Corbys back to Smallville.

"What now Jonathan?" James asked, "You moved both Clark and Jason to Smallville so Clark can recover those memories."

"If you are asking if I'll move them back to California, then no I won't. They can stay there in Smalville to finish up high school."

"Good, good. Is there anything you want me to tell Clark?" James asked.

"Yes, tell both Clark and Jason that a limo will be there on Saturday. I need to talk to them both." Jonathan looked at the 4 plane tickets to San Diego, "I've got a suprise for them both."

Can anyone guess who is Prof. Corby's son? If you re-read the story, you should catch who moved away shortly after Jason and Clark moved to Smallville.

Im confussed about Jonathon...I mean why rid Clark of the memories if he knew he was going to get them back?
Does he think Clark wont be just as affected by it now then he would have been then?!
And more angry maybe?!

I'm kind of wondering if the Matt and Lana relationship was deliberate....:-/

I too hope Lana gets her memories back.

And what up with the four tickets to San Diego?

Well, for starters, the plane tickets to San Diego won't be revealing their purpose in the story just yet. I might as well tell you guys that those tickets are all first class and that Jonathan brought them for Clark and Jason, plus 2 people of their choice. But why did he buy them for? When are they going? And who are Clark and Jason inviting? I'm keeping my mouth shut on that one.
Yes, Mattew Corby is back, but is the Lana/Matt relationship back? Plus the reason why Jonathan wanted Clark to get those memories back is still a secret. I won't say anything to spoil the story.

I'll just leave those things for you guys to ponder about.

Chapter 12

He kissed Lana. His Dad lied to him. Emily drowned because he didn’t go and tell his mom. Lauren and he are back. It was like those words were burned into his mind while he slept. Because, during breakfast, those were the only things he could think of.

“Clark, you okay?” Jason asked him. He snapped out of my thoughts. Clark swallowed what ever was in his mouth and looked up at Jason.

“Yeah.” Bah! Why does his cereal taste so salty?

“Just checking because you just put some salt into your cereal.” Jason said. That answers it.

“Oh right.”He pushed my cereal aside and got up from the table. “I’m just going up to the loft.” Clark grabbed my jacket and left the yellow farm house.

“Jason, I think you might want to go and talk to him.” Tina said.

“Yeah, I think it’s a good idea.” Jason got up and left the yellow farm house to go after Clark.

“Tell me when they come back, I need to talk to Jason and Clark.” James said when he put his bowl into the sink. He then went outside to do some work.

“Clark! Hey!” Jason called out.

“Jason, please, can’t I go up to the loft by myself?” Clark said irritated.

“No, but I can tell there’s something that’s bothering you.” Jason said, worried.

“Yeah, you’re bothering me. Now just…go back to the house or something.” He then turned around and walked off. Jason still followed him.

“I’m not going back until you tell me what’s wrong. You’ve been acting strangely all of yesterday. In fact you’ve been acting strangely ever since you got out of hospital.” Jason wasn’t going to budge, is he?

“Just come to me to the loft. I rather discuss it up there then here.” Clark finally said.

“Okay, we’re here. Now spill.” Jason said sitting on the couch, he crossed his arms.

“I kissed Lana.”

“WHAT?” Jason leaned forward in shock.

“But…that’s just the bottom of my ‘what’s on my mind’ list.” Clark told him.

“If this is just a small problem, I don’t want to hear your bigger problems.” Jason said humorously.

“Okay then.”

“You know I was only joking, right?” Jason said.

“Yeah.”

“Okay…continue to spill. You know I’m your complain hotline.” Jason said, he stood up and stood near the window.

“My memory has been erased when I was 8 because I witnessed a girl drown. My dad paid for the removal of the memories, it wasn’t just me whose memories have been erased. It was also Lana and Lauren.” He sighed deeply. “Apparently, during my operation, it went wrong. I’m not supposed to feel any strong emotions or else I’ll get those memories back. And well, that’s the reason why my Dad is so...cold towards me. I guess your father hasn’t been very fond of me because of the same reasons.”

“Wait…all of this happened because a girl drowned?” Jason said.

“Not just because a girl drowned, but the three of us, by the three of us I mean Lana, Lauren and I, were beyond distraught. We witnessed a death. It was our fault she died. If I hadn’t told my mom we were going to the river, if Lauren never held on closely to Emily, if Lana persuaded Emily more heavily not to go near the gap...”

“Clark, don’t blame it on yourself. When it’s your time, it’s your time. You can’t stop fate.” Jason said, that must the first smartest thing he ever said in his life. “And now, onto the more important things, well to me it is, you kissed Lana Lang.” Jason let out a low whistle, Clark knew Jason saying something smart came with a price. “You cheating cad.”

“Hey, look whose talking.” Hmph!

“Yeah, I know, but still. You kissed her. You know, you can’t run away from the fact that this will affect your relationship with Lauren.” Jason said wisely, “Not sure in a good or bad way yet.”

“Are you kidding? Probably in a bad way.”

“In that point of view yes, but in another, no.” Jason walked up and down the loft, thoughtfully.

“You’re not making much sense Teague.”

“If you kissed Lana, then you two know how you feel about each other, correct?”

“I’m not even sure. But I can’t just dump Lauren and move on with Lana. That’s just…stupid, and don’t forget how much negative stuff will come out of it.” But it was tempting. “It was just a kiss, right?”

“How do you feel about Lauren, now?” Jason had hit the spot. The very thought he was avoiding. Yes, good question, how does he feel about Lauren? Clark frowned slightly. He doesn’t even know.

“Okay, let me make it simpler for you to understand. Do you still have the same feelings for Lauren as you did when you two rolled down that hill?”

“I…erm next question?” That, he cannot answer.

“Do you still have feelings for her?”

“Of course!” That was a pointless question.

“But as a friend or girlfriend?” Jason asked. Oh sh!t. He don’t know.

“I…can you give me the next?”

“Okay, if your feelings for Lauren are nothing more then just friends, what are you doing now?” Jason asked.

“Um thinking?”

“No, seriously. What are you doing toying with Lauren?” Jason asked.

“What?!”

“If you only have feelings for her as a friend, why are you still in the relationship?” Jason asked him.

“Because I…” Damn Jason Teague and his questions. He mentally cursed Jason with a long stream of curse words.

“Because you what?” Jason asked.

“Because…because I still don’t know what to say.” Clark told him.

“And what of the scene in the hospital? Jason said, “You two seem lovely dovey again.”

“Yeah well that was all an act.” Clark told Jason, “It was just an act because you can’t expect me to go and embrace Lana and leave Lauren there.” No matter how very tempted he was back there.

“Yeah, it would raise some uncomfortable questions.”

“Exactly my point.” Clark zipped up his jacket. A chilly breeze has just passed.

“Clark? Jason?” It uncle James calling from the bottom of the barn.

“We’re up here.” Jason called back. Seconds later, sure enough Uncle James was climbing up the stairs of the loft.

“Your Dads have sent a limo for both of you on Saturday to Metropolis.” My uncle started, “Clark, I know you want answers to those memories and trust me, you will get them but not yet.”

*Several Days later*

------------<Metropolis>--------------------

“Ah, I was wondering when you two will arrive.” Jonathan said, it looked like he tried to smile but it didn’t work with his face so instead it looked like a snarl instead.

“I didn’t know that you actually waited for us.” Clark knew how to play the game with his father, “It’s usually us waiting for you.”

“I’m waiting for you two because there is a…matter I wish to discuss with you both.” Jonathan then reached out for an envelope.

“Which matter is that? Are you moving us to another city or small country town?” Clark asked his father coldly.

“Yes if you mean another city to San Diego and moving as in staying the summer there then yes, you two are.” Jonathan smiled this time as he opened up the envelope and took out the tickets and put it onto the table. Clark and Jason took a take back; Jonathan actually was smiling warmly at them. That was something Clark hadn’t received since he was a young boy.

“But, there are 4 tickets and there’s only Clark and I.” Jason said, “What are you guys planning?”

“Can’t fathers spoil their sons every now and then?” Jonathan asked.

“Yeah, but your meaning of fathers spoil their sons is; I scratch your back, you scratch mine.” Clark leaned back into his chair; he was ready for his father to make a deal with them any second now.

“True, but now that meaning has changed for me.” Jonathan showed us the tickets, “4 first class tickets to San Diego. When you arrive there, you will be staying at suites at the Dynasty Hotel. You also have some money to spend if you wish.” The Dynasty Hotel was owned by KenTeague Techs but was run by Clark and Jason’s moms.

“How many rooms?” Jason asked.

“Depends on how many is left.” Dominic said.

“And what about the 2 extra tickets?” Clark asked.

“You two get to invite a person each.” Jonathan said. Clark's stomach lurched forward. The only friend he has in Smallville is Jason, Lana and Pete was sort of friends. Clark's mind switched straight away to Lauren. But then to Jake, he would love California. But Lauren is his girlfriend.

“But don’t worry about it now; you’ve got a couple of months to work out who you are taking.” Dominic said.

“And I advise you two to take your wet suites and your surf boards, from the hotel; you have an excellent view of the beach.” Jonathan said.

“And why are you doing this for us?”Clark asked him.

“Because, I think you would agree with me that a summer in San Diego would be an excellent way to relax for the summer before college.” Jonathan smiled. Jonathan was basically freaking Clark and Jason out, a lot. What’s up with him?

“But I have a feeling that I’m not doing the journalism course at Met U because you have something to do with this.” Clark said suspiciously.

“No no. You will.” Jonathan said, “But I’m ashamed that my only son does not want to go to business school so he can run the company later on in life.”

“I choose my own destiny Dad, no one else can control that.” Clark said defiantly.

“And what of the company? Do I have to give it away to the next random person I see on the streets?” Jonathan asked.

“That’s your problem. I only plan to be a journalist at the Daily Planet.” Clark said, “I don’t wish to become a multi millionaire.”

ok while this is very interesting... there are quite a few confusing points... who is Jake?

And the fact you use 3rd and 1st person in the same sentences really makes it hard to read...

But it is good... and Clark should definitly say bye bye to Lauren and talk with Lana... if he explains what happened it might also help... he loved Lana since he was young anyway...

Jake is Clark's cousin.
Uncle James and Aunt Tina's son.

Clark is only dating Lauren because Lana was already taken.

Something will probably come up to where Lauren, Jake and Pete wont be able to go to San Diego leaving Lana to get to go.
And I think Jason will ask Chloe to go.

whoops, sorry. I have just edited it. I'm still kind of jet-lagged after my trip to Vietnam and I was revising this chapter early in the morning before I left for work. I'll make a personal note to revise chapters when I'm not half asleep.

Chapter 13:

Clark tossed and turned in his bed, his right foot hanged off the bed touching the floor. Bits of memories from San Diego appeared in his dreams at random. Some of him surfing the waves at the local beach, another was of him when he was 10 years old waiting in KenTeague Techs watching other boys playing at the beach and finally him and Jason having a water fight at the local beach.

Clark woke up abruptly. A small trickle of sweat rolled down his neck. He wiped it away quickly; someone was knocking loudly at his door. Cursing quietly underneath his breath, he got up and answered the door.

“What is it?” Clark asked sleepily, his eyes widened when he saw Jake standing right in front of him. “Hey.”

Jake smiled, “Clarky, hey sorry to wake you up so early but um you see I had too.”

Clark stretched and then yawned, “Hey, no problems Jake.”

“Well if you want to go back to sleep then yeah but we’ve got bagels and coffee downstairs if-

“I’m awake.” Clark said walking passed Jake and then downstairs to the kitchen.

After breakfast, both Clark and Jake had a few rounds on the PS3 (Jason played every now and then) before doing some chores. And once the two cousins finished up Clark’s chores, Clark had a quick shower before they left the farm so Clark could make a few deliveries for his aunt.

Talon.

Clark sat back in his chair listening to what Jake was blabbering on about his room mate. His eyes wondered around the Talon a few times and noticed Lana serving by the counter. She caught him staring at her; he tried to shake off the embarrassment by smiling at her and then turning his attention back at Jake. “So you were in the library doing what again?”

“I was researching how to kill my roommate.” Jake replied, “He is just like Jason except 10 times worse.”

“Give me the book once you’re done.” Clark grinned.

“Ahem, babe at 12 o’clock.” Jake coughed.

“Huh? Jake why would I be checking out girls? I’m dating Lauren for goodness sake- hi Dawn.” Clark stopped abruptly.

“Hi Clark,” Dawn began, she was eyeing Jake and it was obvious that she wanted nothing to do with Clark, “Look, there’s this party at my place at 8.”

“Sounds great but I’m not sure if-” Clark started.

“We’ll be there, both of us.” Jake said cutting Clark off.

“Great, I’ll see you both there.” Dawn smiled at them and then walked off.

“Jake why would I want to even go to a party for?” Clark asked him.

“Because um, 1. Lauren’s away with Chloe in Metropolis. 2. Lana will be there. And 3. I need a designated driver.” Jake said ticking them off his fingers.

“I don’t understand the Lana-Lauren bit.”

“Lauren’s away in Metropolis with Chloe so this means that you and Lana are-

Clark looked at Jake, what are you talking about?

----<Loft>-----

Clark checked his digital watch, its 8 o’clock and Jake is still getting ready. He bounced on the balls of his feet a bit, should he actually go?

“There’s a party going on tonight Jas.” Clark said casually, “At Dawn’s I think.”

“Dawn’s? No thanks. Keep me away from that slut.” Jason cringed slightly.

“Huh?”

“That girl is seriously screwed up. I mean the other day, she was hitting hard on me and then when I brought drinks over she was totally making out with this other guy.” Jason explained, “I mean, what’s up with that?”

“Of course she’s well, a bit screwed up. Her two best friends are a slut and a power crazy perky blonde.” Clark said, “But Jake agreed that we both will go and so I’m trapped for the night.”

“Good luck with that Kent. I just got one advice: stay away from her.” Jason then went back to his book.

“Clarky!” Jake said coming up the wooden steps of the loft, “C’mon let’s go. My parents are busy and Jason won’t tell them, right?”

“My lips are sealed.” Jason promised.

Jake stopped the SUV just a block away from Dawn’s house and when Clark asked why Jake replied, “You’ll see.” And on their way down the street to Alicia’s (it was obviously Dawn’s because no other house had music booming) Clark noticed a few SUVs have been graffiti on.

The music was booming, people were dancing, drinks were freely being poured, a few people were in the spa and some jocks were throwing a ball to each other were just some of the things Clark saw. He looked beside him and saw Jake had left to dance with some girl making him completely alone in this party.

“Clark?” said a voice behind him, well it actually shouted above the music. He turned around and saw Lana. He flashed a smile.

“Hey.”

“I thought these types of things weren’t your type.” Lana said.

“Not really but someone had to be there when Jake gets drunk.” Clark explained.

“Lang, hey c’mon let’s go. I think I just spotted Jake.” A few of Lana friends came a long and they obviously wanted her to come a long too.

“Well, I’ll see you around then?” Lana said before she went off with her friends.

“Yeah, see you around…” Clark said when Lana walked off. He then grabbed a cup a filled it what looked like coke but when he drank a few mouth full’s, that was when he noticed that even the coke has been spiked with alcohol.

“Clark, hey man.” Jake obviously had some alcohol in his system as he made his way towards Clark but sober enough to walk straight.

“Hey.” Clark said, “So I see you made a new friend.”

“Yup but look at her, she’s hot.” Jake said now refilling his cup, “The last time I was in Smallville High, she was a wannabe cheerleader or something. But now? Hot!”

Clark just nodded; he was unsure how to respond.

“So have you seen Lana yet?” Jake asked, he was now a bit tipsy but that was because someone had pushed passed him.

“What?”

“You know, did you see Lana yet ‘cause I just saw her with a few friends just now.” Jake said, “Anyway, got to.” Jake then returned to the dance floor with Dawn and a few friends.

Clark then lined up for a refill. There had to be some water around here somewhere.

“Clark! Hey man, over here!” Pete called out to him over by the table taking a few shots of what seemed like vodka.

“Hey.” Clark said, now the alcohol was getting to him, “What’s up Pete?”

“Here, I saved you a spot.” Pete indicated the chair right next to him.

“Thanks man.”

Someone lined up a few shot glasses and filled them up (the server must be a bit drunk because some vodka spilled everywhere). Pete grabbed two of them and passed a glass to Clark.

“No thanks Pete. I’m driving tonight.” Clark declined but he was tempted.

“Just one won’t hurt.” Pete told him.

Clark was not sure because Pete seemed almost drunk and already, the alcohol was getting to him. But, just one or two shots won’t kill you, right? He picked the glass up and took it with a single gulp.

“That’s my man!” Pete said patting Clark on the back, “One more round!”

“Pete, no I don’t think so.” Clark said getting up from the chair, “I’m driving but right now, I don’t think I’m in the right state.”

“Call a cab or whatever! Just one more Clark.” Pete handed him the glass. Perhaps just one more and this will stop Pete nagging him? Clark took the glass and quickly emptied it. After 1 more shot, Clark staggered his way towards Jake.

“Hey dude, isn’t that your girl over there with that college guy?” Spencer said pointing at Dawn to James.

“Yeah,” James stood up in his chair, “C‘Mon boys, let’s go teach that guy a lesson.”

“What? 3 against Jake Kent?”

“Nope, 5 against Jake Kent.” James smirked, “Call them over will you?”
When all of James’s crew was around, James showed them something that was concealed underneath his shirt. A few of the jocks took a step back. “Hey, relax. I won’t actually use this gun on you guys.”

A few seconds later, James and his group made it over to Jake.

A few minutes earlier…

“Jake, hey I’m glad I caught you.” Clark said.

“Yeah, me too.” Jake said, “Look, I might not make it home tonight but can you cover for me?”

“I can’t even make it home tonight,” Clark said, a pleasant buzzing was in his head, “I think I’m over the drinking level.”

“Get a cab home or something but,” Jake smiled at Dawn, “Just cover for me, okay?”

“Sure Jakey.” Clark said.

“What are you doing with my girl Kent?” James asks with his boys behind him.

“Which one?” Clark asked, “Me or him?”

“Move it queer.” James told him shoving Clark out of the way.

“What? Are you talking to yourself or to your boyfriend over there?” Jake asks now angry.

“I dunno but you know?” James said circling them, “I find it hard to believe that queer here can actually find a date.”

“Same goes for you.” Jake retorted.

“But what I find even stranger is that how come queer here is into his girl’s sister?” James asked.

Clark wanted to say something to defend himself but there was nothing. James was telling probably 50 percent of the truth. They may be nothing he could say but there is something he could do. Clark tried to punch James but James avoided it easily.

“What? You can’t even handle a punch from beach boy?” Jake asked, “Look at Mr. High and mighty and here he is, can’t even take a damn punch from a guy who’s half drunk.”

“Oh now you’re going to get it.” James launched a punch on Jake making him stagger backwards. Jake recovered and tackled James to the ground. Clark was the only bystander that wasn’t egging on the fight or was screaming and rushing away from the scene and stepped in and tried to take James off Jake or Jake off James, it was hard to tell which one was trying to hurt the other one more.

“Not so fast beach boy.” A few of James’s boy stepped in and attacked Clark.

Lana heard grunts and moans of pain, a fight. But she heard ‘Not so fast beach boy’ which meant Clark was in trouble. She straight away almost ran to the scene.

Clark was about to attack Spencer but then Adam, some jock, did some sort of karate kick at his ribs and sent him to the ground again. Not good, 3 against him and 2 against Jake.

Lana tried to make her way thru the crowd but it was difficult. Some people were trying to get away and some were egging them on and wouldn’t let her thru.

Clark finally fought off Spencer and some guy called Phillip but Adam punched him. He could taste blood in his mouth and spat a bit out before dodging a powerful punch from Spencer. He looked over to Jake and saw that Jake was handling it pretty well. Suddenly someone punched him at the back of his head and then kicked him making him fall down on the ground.

Lana pushed thru the crowd and saw Clark on the ground with 3 guys surrounding him. Jake was also fighting off James and while trying to punch James, he punched Adam instead. In this small space of time Clark got up and tackled Spencer to the ground.

Clark punched Adam twice before elbowing Spencer hard in the gut. He ducked on of Spencer’s attack with Adam right in front of him so Spencer attacked Adam instead. He had barely escaped this fight with major injuries. He held his right hand in his left. His right knuckles were killing him and presumed that at least one of his ribs were broken. He looked besides him and saw Jake wasn’t handling it well because of the alcohol influences. He made his way towards Jake and tried to push one of Jake’s attackers off him.

“Not so fast b!tch!” James shouted and got out his gun. His target was Clark but Jake punched off his attacker and his attacker staggered backwards making James’s gun point towards the left to Jake. He pulled the trigger quickly.

The fighting stop, people screamed and ran, and Lana gaped in horror.

“Jake!” Clark shouted. Jake fell to the ground, blood pouring all over his chest.

Lana quickly dialed 911. James and his friends panicked and ran.

To be absolute frank - I've grown out of the show. I don't find it exciting/appealing anymore. After I read the spoilers to the up coming shows and season/s, there won't be much Clana left and who ever the new producers or whatever are, it looks like they won't be putting Clana much in the s8. I know I got 4 unfinished stories and I apologise for not finishing them but I honestly can say, I'm no longer a Clana fan, or SV fan either.

Perhaps I might not have made it clear yesterday in my post - but I've out grown the show. I wasn't attacking you verbally or anything shylish, but I'm just saying I'm leaving K-Site. For me, it's time to let go of Clana before Clark goes off and becomes Supes. Thank you to those who have spent time replying and reading my stories.
