I would like to take a poll amongst fans who like the mythos element in the show to see if they liked the additions to the mythos presented in this episode.

I don't care about the mythos in SV.
It's almost kind of boring sometimes.

If that is boring then I don't know what else to say. This episode for me was a perfect 10.

Yes! I love the twist that they've put on this.

It's not that the mythos is boring; it's that they're using it to pull Clark AWAY from wanting to be a hero.

This episode was probably the best mythology based episode of the series to this point. I love Rosetta, but this one really opened up so many doors to Clark's past. I've been waiting for this kind of episode for a very long time.

i LOVED the mythos! it put a great twist on things. i was wondering what made jor-el anf zor-el hate each other and it turned out to be they were both in love with lara. a little like clark and lex over lana, no?

Sorry, I didn't mean this episode in particular. This one was good.
But sometimes they drag stuff on and it's just not fun to watch.

That's what I think anyway.

Well, its good for Clark to know about his past. I chose the first one.

I like the mythos, but I didn't care for the character of Zor-el. Okay, I know he wasn't supposed to be a nice guy, but for Kara to have such positive feelings for him, he shouldn't have been portrayed that badly.

That's because Zor-El = FOS Jor-El. I made a thread about this and a theory a few weeks ago with examples throughout the series.

I give it a 8 just cause I felt I had to wait for ....what? 6year..lol. The guy playing Zor-El was great. His voice alone was great casting. Sounded like TS..just a little. anyone else notice?

My sentiments exactly, from what I hear, the mythos only limits one's thinking to that which is inside the box. No thanks.

Inside the box? I think mythos episodes are the most creative. Especially when people like me who don't read spoilers (unless coming across ones posted in non-spoiler forums) start speculating about the possibilities that could abound. They are the most intelligently written episodes because the writers have to think of ways to tie the strings without creating plotholes.

No, because that is not the Zor-el I grew up reading.
It was OK for a otherworlds type story though.

I don't spend any time reading spoilers either. My example is this, I don't know or care about mythos, but I like the idea that in this story Kara and Lara came to Smallville before baby Kal-El was even born. If it varies from a comic book backstory no sweat. Probably each of us pick and chooses those parts that appeal to us and those that we reject, as ClarkMan himself has done. Mythos or not.

Need I even say it? "Hell yeah" is my vote, and "Hell yeah" is winning. Very satisfying mythos episode.

I hope this season continues like this and doesn't repeat the mistakes of season 5. I think it looks very promising. I want more of this.

The El clan sort of came off like a bunch of feuding redneck trailer trash on a day time talk show, but I like it like that.

The episode made me really mad, because it was more gloss and Kara showcase. The show is supposed to be about the growth of Clark and Lex, yet Clark is barely in the episode.

However, the "mythology" in the episode made me especially mad. Having Lara seriously cheapens what Jonathan and Martha meant to Clark. If he can get his real mom back, why does he need Martha?

Lastly, why does Clark need to ask Lionel for contacts in Washington? CALL YOUR MOTHER!

I gave it a 5/10.

Awesome! The continued General Zod/Civil War reference was brilliant! Now I want Zod to return sometime in the future. I loved how Lara mentioned Jor-El crafting Brainiac to save the planet. It was great seeing both the House of El crystal and the \8/ pendant.

On a side note, the mention of Summerholt and the events of Memoria was pure genius. Season 7 is on the right track!

I hated the love triangle aspect.

I liked seeing Kara and Zor-El on Krypton as it was falling apart and I enjoyed the moment that Lara sees Martha's picture because it was a throwback to "Memoria" when Lara talks about fearing whether or not Kal-El will be loved.

But, I HATED that Jor-El is put in another triangle.
Seriously, let the triangles go. Not every relationship has to be in one.
I'm just glad Lara didn't kiss Zor-El.

Well, Kara's familiarity with her powers and earth culture make a lot more sense now.

The mythos in Smallville is the most important part. But when they screw it up by having Clark act like an idiot over the self-centered, manipulative Lana Lang to the poinst he lets he get by with anything including attempted murder or bring us screwy stuff that trashes the mythos like making Clark a philandering jerk over Lana or having the EL brothers fight over Lara when that is in no way part of the legend and in fact, is plain stupid, now that is what's boring.

This is a comic book character and over seventy years of comic book history is the important thing here. When they alter the characters so much they are unrecognizable or make no sense or act nothing liek ther hero they are supposed to be, then that becomes a travesty and viewers cease to watch. Too much of Smallvile makes no sense because they don't adhere closely enough to the mythos; that has always been Smallville's downfall and they are really screwing things up early in the season.

I'm sorry, but Zor-El was no more than Lex-El.
Zor-El wanted Jor-El's life and girl. Lex wanted Clark's life and girl.
Zor-El is all about his secret experiments. Lex is all about his secret experiments.
Zor-El takes Lara's DNA for Cloning. Lex takes Lana's DNA for cloning.
Lex is bald and Zor-El had his hair cut so short he looked it.

Could be more elements of the past, like "Relic" to foreshadow "Lara".

They seem to be following the movie with that (in having Krypton be an ice planet like the FOS). But at least we got to see the red sun of Krypton's solar system.

I think this episode was a good 8. i just dont like the idea of other kryptonians having the ability to leave home to live while a huge war is going on......i mean people are fleeing Afghanistan and Iraq to get away from war (like the such as)...it just doesnt make alot of sense to me.

I voted "Hell yeah". I loved the fact that this season the writers FINALLY seem to be picking mythos stories over shipper-melodrama. It was awesome seeing what Kara and Zor-El were doing/saying during the last moments of Krypton's existence (usually in movies, shows, and the comics we only get to see what Jor-El and Lara were doing with baby Kal-El).

I thought the actor who played Zor-El played the part very very well. I liked his performance a lot. He really seemed convincing both as a loving father to Kara in their scene together AND as a jealous lecherous jerk in his scene with Lara at the Kent house.

And answering the question about Krypton's appearance, yes Krypton was indeed an ice planet. The idea was first introduced in the Reeve movies, and its now been adapted in the comics, Smallville and Superman Returns.

Haha, same.

This episode was crap. Sorry to those of you who think you're seeing Krypton or the El family, because what you saw was a history that was just made up on the fly. I never really complained about AlMiles love for love triangles, but when Zor-El started on Lara (which is completely ridiculous as far as mythos) I nearly turned the show off. They completely threw out the characters, and just kept the names and the relation to Clark. Absolutely disappointing.

Oh, and that portal crap? Dumb as hell. Why didn't everyone just go to Earth? Why would Zod stay on Krypton when he could be godly powerful on Earth? Why would anyone? Any measly Kryptonian nerd could just instantly travel to Earth and be as powerful as Superman...

...you really let the stuff hit the fan this time, AlMiles...

How many love triangles can TPTB shove into this show?
