Full Review of Action

Allrighty then... finally this season has kicked into high gear... about time too!

And with an episode dedicated to comics and the changes they make in Comic Movie continuity, especially focusing on the bad changes that are made when they transfer the comic to the silver screen.

Amazingly a good story for once in this season, jumping back up to the high levels that the first and second episodes promised for this season. We have a movie being shot in Smallville, not just any movie, Warrior Angel... wow, continuity... in Smallville?!? Yes befuddled viewers, Smallville has actually managed to keep some continuity for a change lol. Anyway, sarcastic comments aside for the moment. The Warrior Angel comic was first introduced back in season 2, with Lex being an Avid reader and collector, this apparently has changed as he says he hasn't picked up an issue since Clark and he stopped being friends.

In the opening teaser we see some of the scenes from the movie are actually being shot on the Kent Farm, including one of Warrior Angel flying... Sans wing's that he has in the comic apparently... hmmm... anyway, the superhero's girlfriend, being played by an over the top 'diva' gets into a car that is being remote controlled by someone, drives off at top speed into a massive wreck that tumbles the car, sending the screaming actress flying from the door, only to be caught and saved by Clark... Low profile Clark, look it up... there's an entire movie production crew on the farm, use some common sense for once and try and be subtle about this sort of thing.

And then we have the sub plot... Lionel is still alive... yup, it's taken them 4 episodes to get back to him lol, anyway he's being kept in a house by a crazy woman who looks like she's growing Marijuana in her house... not much of a sub plot here, but it's entertaining to say the least :D

http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p171/methosivanhoe/supergirl/th_NDVD_002.jpg (http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p171/methosivanhoe/supergirl/NDVD_002.jpg)

and Lois... yep, she gets screen time to this episode. back from wherever she was sent on assignment, she's now back, and wanting to write about the Luthor's, especially a large set of land bought by Lex for no reason apparently... seeing the two sub plots entangle here yet? anyway, she researches and breaks into Luthor Corp Plaza, which looks like it's had a major overhaul since last season, in the disguise of a 'secretary' she manages to enter his Lex's private office... talk about lax security lol Lex catches her, and says that he has no knowledge of the land whatsoever, but he keeps a copy of the land ownership document that Lois just happened to have on her...

Back to Warrior Angel plot... Lana manages to find some Warrior Angel Fanboy posting random messages on the internet forums (hmmm...) about how the movie isn't going like the Comic's should, and that they have changed too many of the major plot points, especially one about the Superhero's girlfriend being saved, when in the comics she was actually killed by the Villain of the story. I'm not going to delve into the subculture argument of comics Vs movies here, if anyone actually wants to start a serious thread on the fact that Smallville actually recognized this fact, go ahead, should be a good laugh :D

http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p171/methosivanhoe/supergirl/th_NDVD_004.jpg (http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p171/methosivanhoe/supergirl/NDVD_004.jpg)

So, this rabid Warrior Angel Fanboy, who has actually managed to get a job as the prop guy on this movie, impressive work, has set it up so that Warrior Angel's girlfriend will be shot on the set by the villain... yeah, he loaded the gun with a real bullet instead of a blank... anyone else having "The Crow" flashbacks here?

anyway, Clark rushes in to save the day, catching the bullet in superspeed while they're filming. now, we know that The Flash has been caught on camera before in Superspeed, and that was a low res security camera, my money is that Movie Production camera's are a lot better than that, so they'll probably have a good picture of Clark rushing through the set and catching the bullet when they go to edit the film lol. Anyway, Fanboy actually sees him do this, or rather he sees Clark come out the other side with the smoking Bullet in his hand as he holds it out for the whole world to see, again Subtlety Clark, look it up.

http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p171/methosivanhoe/supergirl/th_NDVD_010.jpg (http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p171/methosivanhoe/supergirl/NDVD_010.jpg)

So Fanboy realizes that the only way for Clark to be a true hero is if he 'gives up' his girlfriend so he can actually devote his life to the world... finding out about Lana he grabs her, tasering the 'Diva' in the process and throws Lana off a building. Lucky for her, Clark and Chloe have put two and two together and figured out this is what he was going to do. Clark rushes over and jumps off the building, we'll ignore the hilarious face that Lana pulls as she's plummeting to her death (Wooden actress anyone?), so Clark dives down and catches her, instead of the amazing "Flight" scene that we were all expecting, he just crashes to the ground, holding her in his arms, and completely impales a car upto his waist in the process. A damn cool scene? Yes, an amazing 'flight, now that someone i care about is in trouble' scene? No.

Back to Lionel again... we find out that the crazy woman holding Lionel hostage is actually being payed by Lana... wow, she actually has a dark side? who knew lol

Lionel escapes briefly, only to be smacked on the head by Lana with a shovel, i bet she enjoyed that :D but yet again her plans for Lionel are halted when Lex finds them and escapes with Lionel. after tending to his wounds he confronts Lana, telling her he knows what she did, and to be careful or she's run the risk of going somewhere very dark, a veiled threat if i ever heard one :D

http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p171/methosivanhoe/supergirl/th_NDVD_016.jpg (http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p171/methosivanhoe/supergirl/NDVD_016.jpg)

So, they Wrap up the movie and move away from Smallville, Clark and Lana are finally happy, even though she definitely has plans for Clark... i'm just not sure as to what. Chloe is still pining after Jimmy, though we know there'll be a Jimmy / Kara romance this season, so Chloe will probably end up sleeping with the new editor or something that will get her fired from the Planet so Lois can keep the spotlight again.

ok, disappointments about this episode... not many actually...

the hilarious comments by Clark and Lana about "Comic Fanboy's" cheered me up, and the surprising way they actually dealt with comic to movie scrips was something i hadn't seen done before, especially having an episode focus on the fact that they actually change something that annoys a lot of devoted fan's... something they actually should have thought of when filming Superman Returns lol

no Martian Manhunter again, really want to see more of his character, and no Kara, though she is still being investigated by Lex and Chloe, super genius that she is, has managed to fabricate an entire 'back story' for Kara, including social security number, school records and life. damn she's good lol

http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p171/methosivanhoe/supergirl/NDVD_018.jpg

ok, overall 4.5 out of 5 stars
