"Be careful, you're on the edge of a deep dark hole". Lionel threatened Lana or warned her of Lex. They can't keep the barn dancing going much longer. Lana has to go.

I think there was a lot of foreshadowing in that episode. What with warrior angel paralleling Superman so much.

Man for the 3rd time already they are not going to kill her. A 3rd Lana death? Come'on that would be so stupid
LOL and watch the sick part is Al Miles change their minds and bring her back

Yeah this was a great episode that makes you think about the future.
Will Lana live or die at the end of this season? That is the question.

I personally think he was talking about her turning dark...turning evil...letting revenge consume her! I kiiiiiiiinda don't think Lana is going to DIE literally lol.... they tried it once and her butt came right back...so IMO its wishful thinking that she is gonna die! :p

I think that Lana will either die or end up in belle reve. That's how they'll finally push Clark into his destiny instead of having him choose it like they should.

The deep dark hole is the one he and Lex have been in, once the lines are crossed and that's where your soul ends up.

Lionel will smash her to death like he did to that mariyln. Is that her name? Is that the b!tch's name?

The hole Lionel referred to was the same hole Lex fell into. Her hatred of Lex is making her fall into that hole. That's why he told her "let him go". By him, I'm certain he meant Lex. I have a thread about that line in case anyone's interested.
yeah, i think he was talking about lana turning completely evil with no chance of redemption. which i think is interesting since both he and lex have been both completely evil and also "redeemed." which brings up another thought: what is going on with lex? is he good again or just pretending?

I could be wrong, but i thought it was pretty clear he was referring to Clark with that statement. kinda like, he doesn't want to see clark hurt by what lana could become.

He's not good. He may be in a transition phase. I think he realizes the bad things he did, but knows that he must resort to questionable tactics to save the world as he can. That's why he said the Warrior Angel comics lost their magic and he realized that good & evil have shades of gray.

He was talking about Lana was on the edge of losing herself to the darkside and going mentally where she cannot come back from. She is doing a pretty good job at keeping that side of her hidden but its only a matter of time before people catch on to her deception, especially Clark, that who he was warning her about if he found out what she was doing what would he think.

Well, if you take what he said about the hole she can fall into, there is only one way she can save herself from falling into that hole. So I figured the rest of the conversation was about how she could prevent that from happening, which is by letting Lex go. Check out the "Let him go" thread. There is some good debating over that line in that thread.

She is sinking into a deep black hole with her revenge obsession with Lex that's what his warning was about.

They MIGHT try to have Lex kill Lana but she'll live. Chloe or Lionel will die first before Lana does.

I doubt if DC Comics would let them kill Lana as she is supposed to marry Pete who I think becomes VP of the US to Lex Luthor as Pres. She'll just do like Martha Kent and fade from the scene.

I thought this epi was the first nail in the coffin of clana. It definitely made Lana start thinking that she needed to let go of Clark and let him pursue his destiny. I think this will be the eventual end of Lana - her letting go of Clark for all the right reasons - rather than Lana's death.

Agreed. I just watched it for the third time and it has Superman written all over it. Ben, Lana and Chloe all telling him it's time to save the world. Then the flying scene topped by the red cape. Lana just told him at the end that she wants him to go. Jor El will be calling soon. I just wish all the episodes could be like this. Next week we'll probably see Lana fixing more blueberry pancakes and Clark working on the tractor.

yeah lana turning dark is what it was supposed to mean not her death, anyway the season for lana is supposed to be about her toying with her dark side.

I think since Clark failed in saving Lex, Lana will be the difference. He will save her, but once he does, he will start his training, however it is portrayed, and leave her.

Based on what Lana said at the end, I think she will leave him so that he can fulfill his destiny.

He should know. I still don't know what's up with him. He's talking to Clark with MM telling him that Bizarro is a lab experiment gone bad like he's still channeling Jor El but Jor El is talking to Clark at the FOS. What's up with that?

i like to think of Superman for all seasons when it comes to lana. She will eventually just leave smallville, she doesnt necassarily have to die.

1. Lionel was speaking figuratively about Lana becoming evil
2. She can't die young because as we saw in "Hereafter", she dies peacefully as an old woman.
3. Even if she DID fall into a deep dark hole, Clark would dive down, catch her, and stare at her without talking. Or flying.

Since Jor El is confined to the FOS, he needs Lionel on the outside to save Clark from the consequences of his folly.

He was foreshadowing her revenge will be of her own demise which will also destroy any hope of redemption of her relationship with Clark once he finds out of her evil ways. This will make Clark realize what is important and move towards his destiny..

So, Jor El is omnipresent? He can be two places at one time? Is that in the mythos?

how sweet of you to say such things! lol... anywayz are we even sure that Lionel's intentions from S5-til now are actually GOOD intentions?!...has he even changed into a good guy? I mean sure he's the vessel of Jor-El but what is he REALLY thinking when Jor-El isn't talking through him??

Lionel was never good...it is an illusion...Why?
Did you buy into the i'm channeling Jor-el bit..Even if he was...and he was giving Clark information about Jor-el..Can we really believe that Lionel would not want something in return at the end?
We are talking about Lionel here..wasn't it the same person that killed his parents?
Lionel like Lex are villains..i don't expect them to be sipping pina coldas with Clark...But i don't expect a character Like Lana that has been written since day one as this innocent angel. To not do the things she is doing right now....i don't expect that she would intentionally harm anyone... no matter what the hell they did to her...So now that she is involved in kidnapping..Stealing money from Lex..Hiting lionel with a shovel across his head...Marilyn's death..I mean... she involved the woman in her schemes..so how can she be excused from her death...
I mean..if i planned a kidnapping and such..Should i be excused from such a crime?..by saying i was a victim too..AH NO...
True she was a victim of both Lionel and Lex..But she need not play judge ad jury all on her own... while being Mrs.Luthor Shacking up with Lex's best friend Clark under Pa kent's roof and bed...and lying about it all to Clark..the very thing she harped about for 6yrs....when Clark would lie to her and not tell where and what he was doing and mainly his secret...Talk about hipocrite...

^^hahahaha...shes not Mrs. Luthor anymore is she?? I don't think she is, so i think shes excused for shacking up w Clark right now! lol! AND sure one may think that Lana deserves what ever bad people may wish upon her, but Lionel (who of course we know has to have something up his sleeve) SHOULDN'T be excused from his crimes either...meaning all that Lana has done to him or will do to him, he deserves too!! NO ONE is innocent, but what I'm getting at, is i don't think anyone should single out Lana being the only wrong in this equation!

First off I hate the character of Lionel and hope that they kill him off soon. When he started hitting on Martha it was all I could do from destroying my TV. Having him over for Thanksgiving dinner was surpassed in stupidity only by the girl who had to eat Pete in order to live. But Lionel was identified by MM has an "emissary of Jor El" so certainly I buy into his channeling as being genuine but now Jor El has returned to the FOS and I don't see how he can be two places at one time. If he's no longer working through Lionel it's time to kill the old boy off. After all, Rosenbaum is not returning for next season (if there is one) so without Lex there is no valid reason for Lionel. Especially if he's not a villain. I get upset just thinking about that slimeball Lionel hitting on Martha. I lost all respect for Martha and Clark for not telling him to get out of their house. The sucker killed his father for crying out loud and they have him over for Thanksgiving dinner. Outrageous. Kill him off.

He should make that decision of his own volition. If Lana ends up dead or in Belle Reeve, Clark is essentially saying, "Well, since I can't have the life I want, I might as well wear my underwear outside my pants instead."

I think that he was warning her that her own actions are defining who she is becoming.
I suspect that its multi- faceted- that he doesn't want Lana to become evil because he cared for her- but if she does continue down that slippery slope, he would protect himself & his family from her.
He already killed her Marilyn out of self - defense. The gloves are off.
I highly suspect he wants to protect Clark from Lana's influence as well by his 'let him go'.
All about Clark

But you are right that he was warning her that she can become something dark.

I think Lionel brings something special to smallville, his character is quite amazing IMO. but i do have to agree when it comes to Lionel and Martha, which was pretty horrible. I'm so glad the writers didn't pursue a relationship there.
Jor-El was in the fortress since it was clearly re-activated in Fallout, so Lionel is still Jor-El's emissary since MM identified him as such in phantom.

Theres nothing sweet about the Lana your praising to high heaven, tmack, so give others the same flexibility ;)
I'd love to see a showdown between Lionel & Lana. Lionel has the resources and experience at his disposal- Lana has her newly acquired wealth and Super Biatch (Clark) wrapped around her little finger.
Personally, I hope its a clever game of manipulation, insinuations and false belief more than a straight up hostile takeover.
