View Full Version : Matt is really irritating me

Last episode, he kept pushing poor Molly closer and closer to his dad. She found what street he was on, and a decent cop should've been able to find him from there. She then found what apartment building he was in, and a rookie cop should've been able to find him from there. She found what floor he was on, and a 5-year-old kid using Google could've found him from there but no, Parkman - who really, really doesn't deserve to be a cop - had to push her just that little bit further.

And now in this episode, Mohinder had to practically push Matt out the door, and even Nathan was acting more like a cop than Matt was:
"what are you planning?" "I'm not sure" (despite a having a long time to think on the journey there) "You better get sure".
Knocks on the door for him.
Tells Matt to get his gun out.
Got Papa Parkman to relax after Matt ran in screaming.
Reminded Matt of his powers.
Matt even had to get Nathan to ask the questions.
Matt didn't even react to the door slamming behind him.

They better get rid of Matt soon before I suffer an anger stroke.

Matt is my favorite character.

I think they are developing him now to be much more powerful.

I think the thing with Molly is going to be the spark that brings out his full potential.

yes, now that he has got a taste of actually communicating telepathically he's going to start being less of a wuss and more of a bad ass

Or will it all go to his head (pun intended) and he becomes another really really bad ass even worse "Nightmare Man"?

So much potential in this series it is mind boggling! (unintentional pun that time)

He might be on the verge of becoming more powerful, but the fact that he was more concerned about his daddy issues when a girl was lying comatose because he doesn't know how to do his job suggests that even if he became Charles Xavier he'd still be a talentless hack.

I can't stand him at all, not only does he endanger Molly because he is too lazy and dumb to do any police work at all, he has no idea the extent of his powers, is reluctant to do anything, scared and intimidated of everything and, from what we saw last episode, may have left his wife and his baby KNOWING that it was his baby...

WTF ???

I think he is simply dealing with his own father issues while becoming his father when he deals with Molly. He is just in denial to that fact and faced it briefly when he seen his ex and child in his vision

He will become more powerful though, now that he caught a glimpse of it from his father

We need to give Matt a break. He is obviously dealing with alot of issues stemming from his father leaving when he was young. Probably some self-esteem stuff and growing up dyslexic probably didn't help. No matter how much of a cop he is he might still be that scared little boy inside.

In reference to his waffling on confronting Daddy P., Have any of you confronted a father who left you for 20 plus years? I haven't but I'm sure it's not easy. It's not like Claire who never knew her parents. Matt knew his and had resentment.

Personally, Matt's story with his father is the most compelling stuff on the show so far.

You may be surprised what some of us have had to deal with.
Even Mohinder reamed Matt a new one for his stunt and rightly so.
Its not as if he tried to find his dad via actual police work and failed and THEN went to Molly for help, the big schmuck.

Its a child and we never, ever endanger a child.

I don't know. I don't think The Company is bad. Just misunderstood in the grand scheme of the show. I don't trust HRG.

And I'm not enjoying what's happening to Matt this season. Lots of gay subtext. Daddy issues. They're making him whiny.

I LOVE MATT!!

But i was really pissed when he made Molly find his dad and then got her stuck in her own head. Then when he was all i don't know what i'm gonna say to him when i see him...it ain't no family reunion it's trying to save Molly's life. At least he didn't sit there while his dad tried to be all "i should have been there" and all.

But i can't wait for him to really develop his power.

When has Matt NOT been whiny? LOL, Matt's tendancy to whine to everyone and argue alot was even in the drinking game as far back as last season for goodness sakes, lol.

Matt should have died and DL should have lived. I mean what the hell? DL was a bad@ss and got shot once and Matt is a wuss and took four to the chest and Matt is the one that lives?! How is that fair?

Matt's vision of leaving his wife and a child was exactly that a nightmare, his worst fear.
His fear being that it was indeed his child and he abandoned it as he was abandoned.
Just like Nathan's worst nightmare of being responsible for his brother burning to death.

Woah...a character who isn't Godlike, perfect and always makes the right decisions? A character who actually gets confused and F***s things up?

Of course, this IS a Superman fan board, so I shouldn't be surprised that there are people that won't accept anything less than Godlike perfection from their heroes.

Some people like stories about realistic people that, in spite of all good intentions, sometimes make horrifically bad choices.

Some people just like adolescent power fantasies so they can get that cathartic sense of being right all of the time and more powerful than everyone else to boot.

I never said what he did was a brilliant move.
But, it seemed the writers needed it to happen to move the story along so he would go find his father.
The story would have dragged on for weeks if he had done it through police or backstreet methods, running background checks, convincing a federal agent to help him find his long lost daddy.
Or go around bribing underground characters across the world since he had no inkling of where in the world he could be.
That should have only taken a few months of screen time.

I haven't a problem with any of the other characters, so clearly I'm not bothered about whether or not we have godlike characters on the show. My problem is that this "realistic" person who doesn't plan ahead and endangers innocents is carrying a police badge.

Yeah, because we all know every police officer is a perfect genius who thinks ahead and never endangers innocents.

At least Matt is doing what he's doing with good intentions...I mean it's not like he's giving Molly the full on Rodney King or anything.
