The blurred flying with a special effect, isn't "handling" anything.
It's actually a copout, to avoid spending time, money, effort on a more realistic looking effect.
And yes, I'm aware that it costs money to produce those special effects, but I'm sure most (but not all) viewers would rather see something more than an actor jumping in the air and then being replaced by a CGI blur 95% of the time. That gets extremely boring.

Slow down the flying. The team at Entity FX should learn something from the internet buzz about Stargate Digital's West & Claire flying masterpiece. The fantasy is all in the little details. ;)
