Ok, I know it seems self-explanatory but I'm going to be doing much more than just add a new alien face to the mix...also, a couple of things that need to be made clear

There WILL be Clana, but it won't be entirely Clana-centric

I havent seen season seven yet (I love DVR) so this wont follow that storyline - though I will use story elements

You'll have to bear with me while I write up the first chapter

Ok, here it is

Status Quo

Clark was waiting on the porch of the Kent house for Lana. She was supposed to come over to help make the pies for the fundraiser he got roped into. He didn’t know his arse from his elbow around the kitchen – hell, he barely knew less than Lana. But no one else was available on such short notice, and he wasn’t sure he would have gone with anyone else, anyway.

Seeing Lana pull up in her Toyota Yaris brought on mixed feelings for Clark. On the one hand, he was glad to see her alive – but the absence of her old Jeep Liberty painfully reminded him of the brief time when he believed her to be dead. He brushed that thought aside and smiled as he went to greet her.

“Thanks for coming,” he told her as they exchanged a quick peck.

“No problem,” she responded. “But you know I’m no good at this, Clark.”

Clark gave her an amused look. “Aren’t you the one who did better than me in Home Ec?”

Now Lana was amused. “That was fifth grade, Clark, and we made granola bars.”

Clark chuckled. “So I guess neither of us know what we’re doing.”

Lana backhanded him in the chest as she walked past him to the door. “Maybe you should have offered to bring granola bars for the fundraiser,” she teased.

Clark laughed and followed her into the house. Once they were both in the kitchen Lana clapped her hands together. “Alright,” she said briskly. Where are the ingredients?”

Clark looked at her with a dumbfounded look on his face. Lana returned the look with one of pity.

“Clark…don’t tell me that you didn’t buy any ingredients!”

A split second later the once bare counter was full of eggs, flour, milk, an assortment of fruits, and whipped cream.

Lana looked at Clark, whom as far as she could tell hadn’t moved from his spot. She shook her head and turned away towards the counter. “Show off,” she muttered under her breath.

“Hey, I heard that!” Clark said with playful indignance.

Lana laughed. She had been waiting for years to be this involved in Clark’s life. Sure, she didn’t know exactly what something like that had entailed – but it didn’t matter to her. She loved him to much for it to.

Clark was glad for Lana to be in his life, too. She was always there for him as he was for her. Not there to rescue him from harm, but from the deep despair that came from the regrets of his past. She was always there to bring him out of it.

And she was alive.
