I love that we have a another 'physical' power on the show, there aren't that many of them. Basically its her and Nikki (and Claire, I reckon, but different)

Yeah, I hope she can keep what she mimics. It'll be cool to see what else she ends up doing.

I would so go home and load up on Jackie Chan and Bruce Lee movies :)

She's got the cheapest power ever. I could watch wrestling and do that same spin move. I don't need a power to do it.

Prove it, go do it. Then make one of those rose tomato things

It looks as if what ever she sees, she gains the ability, I wonder if it is only from TV or anything she witnesses.
She could become "Freddy Kruger" from his movies

They aren't hard. My grandmother taught me how to do it before she died.

The point is your grandma taught you, she absently saw some lady on TV doing it. Very different. Thats like a 6th degree blackbelt saying 'splitting 10 boards with my pinky isnt that hard' well, not for him, but it damn sure would be for me.

I thought she had Charlie's power, i.e. she just remembers stuff. Only with her it's much more physical, so she remembers what she saw on TV and was able to mimic it exactly. Probably not the same power, but very close IMO.
So did Michah trying to "fix" her turn it on, or did he discover that technology is the limits of his power in that scene?

Stupid Naruto...lol. Maybe we'll see her eyes go crazy.
But i kind of thought she was another Charlie at first myself but i had too make sure by seeing her watch something else on tv. He thing i believe is very similar to Charlie's but also very different. I believe Charlie remember things (like information).
I personally (and hope) that Monica has photographic reflexes. Her body remembers whatever it sees and can duplicate it without really thinking about it. So like she could potentially study someones fighting technique and not only be able to perform but if she fought that person she'd already know their moves and could predict what that person will do before they do it.
Least that's what i'm hoping it is. It's not the sweetest powers in the world but it beats having nothing and plus it's something you don't see all the time like reading people's minds (not dissing Matt or telepathy).

Haha, I hope to see Monica watch a Kung Fu movie on TV then say, "I know Kung Fu".*

I don't know, her power struck me as kinda ho-hum boring.
(Or probably just recycled, now that you all mention
Charlie.)
Granted, the wrestling move was cool, but that was about it.
I'll have to watch the episode again. I had to keep turning down
the sound from Molly screaming like a friggin' banshee
all the time so as not to wake up everyone else in my house.
(Thanks Heroes writers. Thanks a bunch.)

Lame. It just seems lame to me.
"I do what I see on TV."
???
Hopefully as we learn more about it... it will be cooler than that.

Being able to mimic pretty much anything you see is boring? Think of all the pretty much impossible stuff you could mimic just by watching a movie with decent stunt-actors and/or decent CGI. ;)

Yay! Someone agrees with me!
(And here I thought I was alone.)
I didn't even pick up that she was getting it all from tv.
I thought she saw her grammy making a tomatoe rose
and that's where she got that from.
...Man, sometimes I'm just oblivious.
Nah, I think I'll blame my Mohinder obsession for this one.
He was just too sweet tonight. Singing to Molly and calling
her "Sweetheart."

You have to really see it for what it is and what it could be. I still like it. But yeah i agree i hope we see some cooler stuff with that and not just being able to make rose tomatoes.

I like her powers, but really they're just an imitation of Marvel's Taskmaster.

There are only so many powers one can come up with. You can claim everyone on the show is imitating another character's powers. DL is Kitty Pride, Hiro is Nightcrawler with time travel added, Nathan is part Superman, Peter is an improved version of Rogue, etc. etc.

She already made the rose before Micah tried to do whatever he did. I assume that his power doesn't work on people.

Its a "brain rewiring", whatever she visually sees is "imprinted" in her brain and in her muscles (mind leading intent leading the body).
Thing of it as suped up mutant visualization skills.
A few papers have been done on this and it works quite well.

Umm i think i'm about to repeat the same thing kryptonian-ronin said, but it seems more than just mind but physical as well.
At the time her body does it, it seems to literally take up the form, strength, speed, stamina of whatever she had saw.
As if her body changes to fit that reaction. Which makes me wonder if she could also do the same as peter and the others and mimic powers.

Ah, right, I had forgotten what order things occurred in. Oh well, at least Micah tried to use his power in a different way. That's the great thing about being a kid, you don't just assume that you can't do something.

Studies have shown that brain re-wring does effect the physical performance.
In one study, a group that just visualized shooting free throws shot just as well as a group that trained shooting free throws.
ANother study showed that a group that was told to due a certain sequence of notes on a piano in their minds, did as well as a group that actually did it on the piano, the areas of the brian that were stimulated were the exact same ones in both groups.

so if she watches superman on tv, can she learn to fly?
haha.
MidgardDragon

I think the limits of her power will be at the outer reaches of what is physically possible (so she might be able to do some nearly impossible acrobatic moves from watching Olympic gymnasts, or be able to leap long distances by watching professional long-jumpers, or even be able to swim like a fish by watching their movements, but I doubt she can actually take off and fly.

I guess it's how her power works...she mimics everything she sees.I don't think sci-fis or horror movies count though ;)

She will be entertaining and extremely lethal.
If she takes the day and simply observes the actions during a Kung Fu marathon, or rent a bunch of How To videos, she would be the next McGuyver/Jet Li/ 007 there is.
I wonder if her photographic reflexes only go as far as physical powers? Remember that long hug she had with Micah and they kept it zoomed in on his hand as he held her? What's with that?

I agree with the DL/Shadowcat (except i don't know if he disrupts electrical equipment if he phases through it), not sure if Nathan's up to Superman standards of flying, Peter is KIND OF like Rogue but i think a more improved Mimic or prolly someone else since there tend to be a lot of power duplicating people in comics, and i wouldn't list Hiro as another Nightcrawler...yes they call it teleporting but by a completely different means.
But you get the gist.

I agree with that unless it's a further mutation of his which he MIGHT be able to do once he's mastered his power.

And i believe you're absolutely 100% right about that MidgardDragon. Kind of like the peak of human physicality. But not copying supernatural powers.

I like her. She has a very sweet disposition and yet not whiny with angst like Claire but determined and seemed emotionally strong.

I liked her too. She has a very likeable personality and a cool power. Also I couldn't help feeling sorry for her when they talked about her struggle to take care of her family.
And I loved it when she pwned the robber with her newly-learned WWE moves lol.

Hmm interesting kryptonian Ronin. I play the piano and from watching someone play a song even if i dont' know it i can play it. Though not perfectly of course. But again I want to see a study that duplicates what she did. Doing free-throws, playing those do require some level of physical capability but nothing on par to what she did i would say.

Well, that only works for simpler pieces, I assume. Cause it took geniuses like Mozart to really be able to do that...... But who knows, maybe you're Mozart. In this case: I love you.

nope no mozart, yeah i would say simple, though i have been capable of playing complicated pieces. Its really because a lot of songs are just loops As long as you learn the first section tyou can pretty much duplicate the second version, by sight or just listening. As well since songs follow rhythm you can tell what is going to be the next note played before it actually is played. I had for a moment photographic memory when it came to songs, for instance I could play four pages of moonlight sonata from memory, fur elise, and tocatto and fugue, unfortunately i'm rust now.

I think it'd be cool to have that power...I'd be so talented. ^^
Im just interested to see how this power will help her be a great hero..instead of just being able to make rose tomatoes.

like MidgardDragon said, it reminds me of the Matrix movie, when Dozer sends trinity the info on how to pilot the helicopter.
I think she will be able to learn "normal" human skills, like Olympics athletes, or stuntman/stunt driver, pilots, etc, but none of the "heroes" special skills like healing or flying. if she can absorbs other heroes power by watching them, this will be so cheesy, another Peter/Sylar/Boogeyman (i think Matt's father has many powers!)

But i don't think you're a young, female, mother and waitress lol. Are you?
Anyway i think it will be interesting if she can mimic other heroes powers. I mean who says there has to be only 2 main rivals, good and evil, black and white? Why not something in the middle? Why not 3 who can absorb powers in some way never really knowing there true intentions...
