Discuss one of the best episodes in the history of the show here. Best thing about this episode: that incredibly creepy ending. I'm very glad that I don't live in a place with lots of those types of statues.

Blink was great. I want Sally Sparrow to be a companion, or at least have a few more appearances.

Hmm, I don't think she really fits as a companion, personally. It looked like she had "moved on" past the whole experience with The Doctor at the end, when she took that guy's hand. It would feel forced to bring her back, and it'd make me sad for the geek that she kind of/sort of ended up with. I mean, he officially has no one now that his sister's dead. Best to leave her in her little wibbly-wobbly corner of time. I would love to see her reappear, though. Not as a time traveler or companion, but in her own time period where the Doctor comes to see her.

It was a great episode, though the main plot about the difficulty of not blinking doesn't make sense, you could just wink to keep your eyes moist, and always have one eye on the statues.

Has anyone read the original novel it was based on? Were there any follow up novels?

We are of course talking about a universe where there are living statues and time travelers, not so sure being able to not blink is the episode's biggest unrealistic trait. ;)

Sally would make a really great companion. Certainly better than Martha or even "Donnaaaaar"

Definitely better than Martha, but since I haven't seen Donna in an actual season-long companion role, I'm not going to judge something I've never seen.

Well I fell head over heels in love with Sally Sparrow. Just like I did with ... what's her name Blake that member of Linda. It's so funny that the episodes where the Dr. and Companion are barely there are two of my favorites. This episode was so atmospheric. I have this fear of dolls coming alive and statues aren't much different. The climactic moment where the Tardis disappears was so thrilling and terrifying. And then Sally finds love at the end.

The story of Sally's best friend's life in the future unfolded so beautifully. The way those weeping angels killed people was just so interesting I'd never seen or heard anything like that. I doesn't surprise me that it may have been based on a book because it felt like literature watching it. The time travel gags were hilarious. The house talking to her and the Dr. on the DVD's. Fabulous episode.

Wasn't Sally just the sweetest faced girl you've seen in a long time. Her face is so incredibly sweet with those dimples. I loved all her cheeky moments with the black guy. Sorry I'm bad with names. That was so much fun. It broke my heart how she kept losing her friends. Anyway... yeah. One of my fave episodes of Dr. Who.

I don't really have a yearning to see Sally become a companion but if it happened some time in the future great. That's just how I felt about Donna after "The Runaway Bride." And I'm thrilled to see her return for a whole series.

I didn't like Martha at first, I thought she was boring. But over the course of the series I fell for her. I love that they weren't afraid to just let the relationship be where it was and not force romance or angst. It was a simple unrequited love/friendship. The speech Martha gave at the end had so much dignity. I love that she didn't suddenly become some warrior but just told the story of her love for the Doctor and all he'd done. Oh! Sorry I don't want to spoil anyone but...

So far Rose is the love of the Doctor's life IMO. I like the way they are maintaining that but still allowing him to have rich relationships with other would be companions. Doctor/Donna are wonderful chums! That's what I want to see. I like abrasive yelling women. Especially when they have red hair. YUM!

*gasp*

You are so clever! LOL!

In an interview in this week's "Radio Times", Steven Moffat claimed that the acclaim for "Blink" meant that he knew nothing about writing "Doctor Who". He had worried about the relative lack of action, and thought that Sally Sparrow wasn't the sort of character that you would have as a companion nowadays as she was a bit posh, an old-fashioned snob and someone who didn't really like the modern world.

How wrong could he be?
