when Grant told Lois that in 12 years she could be...blah blah blah.

I think it's a throwback to the movies, as the time lapse between teenage Clark going to the Fortress and Superman emerging was 12 years.

I just thought that was kind of cool to hear.

hmm, it was 12 years in the movies? I know it's been different lengths of time, maybe that was what they were going for. Seems so forced to me, there's no way that Lois Lane could be star reporter at the DP in 12 years. :/ She didn't even give a **** about journalism until a barn door almost fell on her. And she hasn't even finished high school afaik.

Yes, in Superman: The Movie, when Kal-el is on his virtual flight through space with the Jor-el hologram, at one point, Jor-el tells him "By the time we return, 12 of your years will have passed"

Yes she could. She totally could.

Lois did finish high school, but she's yet to finish college.

No! More stupid movie talk! Clark should NEVER spend 12 years in the Fortress of Solitude. I don't care how the movie did it.

But is part of the show...that's the real thing..sorry...if you don't like it...is part of Superman mytho.. we can't just re-create the hole thing just for our delusional pleasure...wish things different on Smallville, yet TPTB are happy what they are seeing.

The movies are different from the show. Just because there are some similarities doesn't mean that the show is a prequel to the movies. And he doesn't have to spend years and years training in the fortress.

But is part of the mytho, is part of Supermn how he accept his Kryptonian destiny. Is part of the things that TPTB can't altered....they can't change the hole story just for our pleasure... If you watch closely, very closely, Smallville has many story arc from the movie.

It isn't part of the Superman mythos. It's part of the movie.

Okay, few things,

1. As confusing as the crises have made his origins, the comic is the official "Superman Mythos" not the movies.
2. In the movies Clark doesn't know Lois before he writes for the Planet.
3. Clark trains as soon as he creates the fortress in the movies.

The list goes on. I never thought they were a prequel, they're their own continuity. I'm just making it obvious that they're not the movies.

There have also been many other Superman adaptations, like that show in the 90's 'Lois and Clark: the new adventures of superman' which in no way resembles the mythos of the movie... There is no reason smallville cant make its own story...

Of course she can. She's Lois Lane.

It's her destiny.

That was definitely a line for the fan boys. Who thinks about 12 years into their future? Usually you say 5 or 10 or 15..but to say 12 was a reference to that part of Superman I.

However, as for who can change things up? Everyone seems to be.

In Superman I, that 12 years would put Superman/Clark at roughly 30 years old. Superman Returns put Clark and Lois at roughly 27-28 years old. And if Smallville’s Clark leaves at the end of season 7 for a 12-year session, then he would be roughly 32 years old. I don’t recall exactly but I think in Lois and Clark, Lois started the show at about 25 years, putting Clark around that time frame also.

Exactley, you can't start college without testing out of your highschool classes even with Luthor influence. It just doesn't work that way.

When Lois & Clark were discussing sex in season 3 in the virtual reality Metropolis, Clark said he was almost 30. But he didn't have a Fortress of Solitude, other than his treehouse. His training was traveling the world helping people.

lois is yet to last even one semester in college without being expelled, that following her failure to graduate high school with all her friends, if she had any.

Never over-estimate this version of lois nor underestimate this version of Lex and the reach of his money.

i think it probably was a nod to the movie. the fortress is also obviously a nod to the movie. that doesn't mean it follows the movies continuty. there was also a football player from met u that tried to recruit clark was named geoff johns, who is one hell of a writer for dc and there was a character( don't remember when) named vanscriver who is a dc artist. so yes, i do think it was nod to the movie .

speaking of which though, if brian singer wouldn't have pitched so hard that it didn't matter whether you watch smallville or the movies, you already know supermans origin goin into superman returns would the tptb have killed jonathan off?

I love how distorted things get after so many posts, it's kinda funny.

sure the 12 year thing isn't necessarily part of the mythos, it's part of the movies, which is what i had said. Anyone who feels the need to whine and complain over what's in the mythos and why Smallville doesn't exactly follow..blah blah blah, who cares, it's a tv show, it's entertainment, if you don't like it, don't watch it. Simple
