good exposure in this episode for our new cast member.

her acting is alright. its not horribly bad so far. its good enough to carry the storylines because its believable shes an alien to the rest of the cast members because she is technically an outsider for the time being. it will take some time for her to increase her chemistry on film with clark/tom and the rest of the cast.

i dont know about u, but as a red blooded male, i couldnt get over how hot she was. probably way too hot not to be invloved in a love story. shes probably gonna be a love interest for someone on the show. i am thinking probably jimmy. a jimmy, kara, chloe love triangle anyone?

but what did everyone think of her?

I think she's pretty cool...I remember her face from "Mom's Got a Date With a Vampire" and "Instant Star" (I really like this show too). I guess she's pretty too, but I'm not a guy so, whatever...I'm more interested in the Clark/Kara relationship. I'm so excited for him. All his life it seems that he's felt alone (in terms of being the only "good" Kryptonian on Earth), and now he doesn't have to feel that way anymore.

I can't wait to see them get closer, right now they're still strangers to each other, but I'd like to see them act like family. With Martha Kent gone, it'll be nice for him to have someone to talk to...someone who can fully understand him. It's just an awesome concept, IMO.

Couldn't have said it better myself, I can't wait for their relationship to grow and as you said start acting like family. The writers have been great so far, I hope they keep it up.

Ditto. It's nice to see Clark more and more comfortable around people with his powers. Some of those awkward "nobody saw" moments in the earlier seasons were excruciating.

And the scene where she tried to fly away and he just slammed her into the ground? Classic. Felt like something straight outta the old comics; [in manly Superman voice] "I don't think so, missy." He's already treating her like a little sister.

But when she found out about Krypton, come on, Clark! Would it kill ya to give her a hug? She just found out that everyone she ever knew was killed in a mass genocide! He just stood there and grinned at her.

I was worried about the casting for this role and that getting the wrong actor for the role would just ruin it, i.e. George Clooney as Batman.
But, Laura Vandervoort pulled this role off perfectly in my opinion.
There's just something about her that fits the character of Kara/Supergirl...Don't know what it is but she has it.
It's like when sports writers and football coaches say that this quarterback has it. Don't exactly know what it is but you know it when you see it.
Well, Laura has it...And her acting isn't bad. I think in time, once she has settled into the character, she'll be even better. And that attitude that she portrays for the character, it's just perfect.

Any theories on what happened to Kara's ship?

I like Kara, but in her debut story she was awkward. But I'm gonna consider that as baby steps. As the season progresses I hope she'll get comfortable and loosen up.

Jor-el warned Clark about danger from Kara. So it makes me think that Kara may be pretending. What do you think?

I don't agree... In my opinion Kara is the best beautiful actress in Smallville
