When Lex was talking to Chloe he said Lionel paid a man to confess to Lana's murder before he went missing.

So it seems like it was Lionel that helped Lana stage her death, but why then would she retrieve the body herself unless she actually paid the person to confess and it wasn't Lionel that gave the man money.

What are your thoughts?

When I first heard that, I was thinking it would be the guy who dragged Lionel, but we know it wasn't.

I don't know what to think. Something does tell me that Lana had a much bigger hand in her plan than Lionel.

I don't think Lionel Knows about Lana faking her death, I think he paid the man so that Lex wouldn't be locked up in prison.

When did Lionel have time to do that? Chloe was pronounced dead at about 1:30, so Lionel was out of commision before that. Was Lana at the farm at sunrise? And then Lana and Lionel were in Smallville, where "Lana" blew up. Then Lionel had to get back to Metropolis to meet MM. And angry Clark. Then race to the dam.

I suppose he could just order a flunky who carried on with the job after Lionel disappeared. But an awfully lot of things happened on that one morning!

Then, again, Lionel might just keep people on retainer to confess to crimes, since he and Lex commit so many.

Lionel or someone else.
Great coincidence that he was dying of cancer and does not matter if he goes to jail cause he will die probably from the cancer.

I need a billion dollars for situations just like this.
