Clark and Kara went for her ship, but when they stopped Clark fell. Why?

Clark covered Lois with his body to protect her from the ship exploding.

Lois was got knocked out again when she touched the ship and it sent her across the right side of the screen and yes Clark was there to protect her from the exploding ship.

When I was watching that scene, I said to myself, "Looks like Lois is going to have to be knocked out again."
