When Grant goes on his tirade against Chloe, he mentions that she is taking journalism classes at night, at Metropolis University.

Well, that settles it. Chloe IS in college and is currently taking classes. That was never really confirmed up until now.

So finally we have confirmation that Chloe is indeed in Met U. :D Looks like this episode is going to address quite a number of things that they just dropped in the past.

Later in the episode Grant tells Lois "Chloe Sullivan has lost her Mojo, now she is just another run of the mill hack, giving herself carpal tunnel, covering City Hall and fourth of July parades

 I wouldn't be suprised. I need my own Clark Superspeed Travel. I'm late to EVERYTHING.

They should just move both Chloe and Lois to Metropolis already. This whole daily travel to Smallville just makes the series look stupid. No one can work 8 hours, and do a 3 hours drive to go to work and then, a 3 hours drive back home. In Chloe's case is even worst, because she is having night classes at Met-U. When does the girl sleep???

I noticed that too. I wonder if they just threw it in because we've all been *****ing about it.

Chloe takes night classes at MetU.. but we always see her at night time and she's never at school.
Oh well. Who knows, maybe Lana "takes night classes" too.

Ugh! So it's crap on Chloe the entire episode. Not looking forward to this at all. Was it really necessary to do that? I don't really see the point in that, other than to make other characters look better. Al&Co's trademark. I hate it when they do that, and it usually is only done to the female characters (Chloe,Lois and Lana).

At least this is Allison's last year. She should be getting a better send off though. Oh well.

Thanks for the info Mctor.

^ not only that, you would think it's like a no duh why she's just doing the stories assigned to her and not making her own news... I mean she has to sleep... she has to do her assignments for Class... plus do assigned reports... and she helps Clark when he needs it... this girl has alot on her plate... that is why IMO she's been taking somewhat of a break in her passion in journalism... it's like she's at her dream job, all she has to go is up... so let me just get my degree and then focus... smh

They keep flip flopping between "Chloe is a journalist" and "Chloe is a reporter". They're two very different things.
If she's a journalist, she mostly writes the stories given to her.
If she's a reporter, she finds the news and writes about it.

I wonder which she actually is.

Taking night classes at Met U while working at the DP at night as well. We've seen her at the DP at night in numerous episodes. Whatever, I'll accept the fact that Chloe is still in school, but I think that the unrealistic factor when it comes to this is off the charts.

But is she back to the dorms? Sorry if I am pushing this subject, but every season it seems that Smallville and Metropolis get closer, which should have been impossible. :p

Yeah. As I said, each season they become closer... It used to be 3 hours away, back on the old times of season 1-3.

Good grief. That's the thing I hate the most about being a journalist. I'd much rather spend my Monday nights doing something more worthwhile than covering city council.

Or the worst is covering high school football games on Friday nights. I'd much rather go to the movies.

IMO this is being overdramatic. How is Grant telling Chloe that she has lost her spark in journalism because all she does is writing filler stories and no effort to find stories of her own, as Chloe being crapped on? Plenty of people have noticed this about Chloe way back since S5 itself, to some people even since S4.

If anything, Grant's assessment of her is spot on and something that I've been saying myself for quite a while. I'm just glad they've addressed this issue with Chloe and hopefully his words will make her think and sort out of her priorities if she believes she is really supposed to be this top reporter at a top newspaper. Personal problems shouldn't be an excuse.

Only the female characters? If there's a character that gets crapped on the most on this show, it's the guys i.e. Clark and Lex.

To some degree I agree with you. AM in her interview said something like Lois being at the DP gives Chloe a wake up call. Chloe's been distracted with all the other things going on in her life.

As Chloe lands a big story for the DP after the Kara episode I'm sure she gets her Mojo back. If anything Lois being at the DP will be a good challenge for Chloe to get back on track and move closer to her dreams.

It's something that Chloe has to go through because she has been distracted as you said. Chloe needs that wake-up call, regardless of whether Lois is getting a job at the DP or not.

I just think she decided to put her career on hold for everything....

Seacrystal I say Season 5 was the last time we saw the actual Reporter Chloe...

Season 6 I agree she disappeared and was replaced with ProdChloe...

If you think... the Editor gave her a challenge... like how Kahn did... now she's going to prove the editor wrong about her...

It seems to me like Chloe's stroyline is going to be... her ability and her reporting... i mean how many scenes can they do with her going "how does it work?" I think we will see reporter Chloe in fierce again.

ShelbyKent, I agree...

I dunno... seems like her relationship with Jimmy did more to Chloe then she thought.

Al & Miles have said in previous interviews (and I think in the special features section of the season 5 DVDs) that the characters are in college, with the exception of Clark since he is running the farm.

I'm really looking forward to seeing this episode tonight!! BTW, I do not remember reading anywhere that this is Allison's last year.

If they do end up mentioning if Lana is in school, it will probably just be a pass away statement like it was with chloe.

Ah, Chloe is still the superior girl. The other gets whatever comes easy.

The major is journalism, there is no degree in being a reporter, at least at any university that I have been around.

I love the fact that she is still taking classes. Shows alot of drive, but Grant is right about her. She needs to start stepping it up.
He must see something in her, or else why else would he care enough to try and push her.

Chloe IS in college and is currently taking classes. That was never really confirmed up until now.

It was in the Torch last year (which is canon) but it's great to hear it on the show.
