How come it took them 5 mins to open Kara's ship, but any other time it's been imposable to open one. Lex had one for so long, and nothing could even scratch it. Even Clark had to use the "key" to open his tiny ship and he's freakin Superman.
The only speculation I have is that that guy really is Brainiac.

Wow that never crossed my mind, that would be crazy if he's Brainiac. It is pretty ridiculous how fast they opened it, and speaking of fast how long did it take Lex to get to China? He was there in a jiffy, he and Lana sure know how to travel :p Their scenes seemed a little rushed but other than that the episode was great.

that's a really interesting idea, it supports the dead bodies in the forest by the former location of the ship. Why would he be working for the US gov. though???

True, he's not to return for a while, but it's not uncommon for Smallville to leave you hanging on a subject for half the season. As I posted in another topic, the crystal was in a container instead of him just holding it in his hand. The crystals have killed Brainiac's forms before, but they don't hurt anyone else. We don't know how many copies of himself he had and he does take other forms.

I watched the Director's Cut, one of the BIG plot holes was that the Kryptonite affected Clark but not Kara.

On Krypton, Kara was 19 when Clark was a toddler (3 years old). When Clark and Kara went to Earth, Clark landed fine but Kara got stuck in "suspended animation", meaning she was stuck in her ship and didn't age.
When she came out of her ship (last episode), she was still 19. Clark, on the other hand, had grown. He said Kara was in suspended animation for 18 years, so now we know Clark is 21 years old.
Kara is 19.
Does that clear it up? :)
It does. Is that true of the comics too?

In the comics Clark is 33 and Kara is like 18 or something like that

Actually hasnt Kara always been less affected by kryptonite than Clark?

This is the 1st thing that crossed my mind when I saw them opening it without a problem.

Not in the comics. There was an issue where Kara was possessed by something and Superman had to put on a kryptonite ring to KO her (showing that he had more resistance to it).

How come two guys were killed when they touched the ship and Lois wasn't?

They weren't killed by touching the ship. That government guy obviously killed them.

I don't remember the timeline of the episode, but was it possible for Lex to get to China that fast? Or was that a different day when he arrived? I have to watch that again.

i hate how clark and kara just kinda left the ship lying around with little goverment men picking it up to carry to their little wherehouses. yet 2 person with all the strength in the world couldnt just simply pick it up and hide it somewhere oh i dont know maybe like the kents did in the pilot?
its not that glaring of a plothole because the resulting storyline is much more interesting with the government coverup. so i'll let it slide

After watching this episode again, I noticed another inconsistency/plothole:
Kara is looking for Kal-El. She meets Clark at the beginning when he's with Lois before she knew who he was. Yet, she doesn't realize it's him. Lara's replicant assumed Clark was Jor-El when she first saw him because from Relic, we knew that Clark looked very similar to Jor-El. Kara should have noticed the same thing. She should have at least questioned who he was when she found him with Lois by her ship. I know Kara didn't know so much time passed by and she was looking for a 3 year old kid, but she should have at least questioned a person who looks exactly like her own uncle--so much that Jor-El's own wife couldn't tell the difference in Blue.

Yeah, that makes sense now that you've pointed it out. But I can honestly say I WOULD HAVE NEVER noticed that otherwise. You've got waaaaaaay too much time on your hands, lol

Not really. I just noticed it when I watched it again on Thursday when it was on and wanted to mention it here.

This one had me stumped, especially as Clark himself was so keen to hide his own ship after the events of Tempest/Vortex! I guess it could be explained away by there being kryptonite around the crash site. Perhaps there was enough of it about to hinder Clark and Kara? Then again, that would lead to the other inconsistency which enabled Kara to evacuate her own ship!
I like this Brainiac theory by the way. So far only the first 2 episodes have aired in the UK, and although I know James Marsters will appear later, it never occured to me that Brainiac could be involved! It makes me happier about how easily the government official and his team got into the ship......

Yeah and why didn't Kara notice or at least question how a simple human could superspeed up to meet her, fly back hundreds of feet, colliding with rocks and trees at tremendous speeds, and be totally unfazed.
I just thought that was weird, or did she not notice that he used superspeed, did she just think she ran into him or something?
