View Full Version : Maybe they really DID save all their advertising budget to make the premiere

Seriously, so many effects and so much effort was obviously put into this episode. When we weren't getting any previews, even though I wanted one, I was silently hoping they were using that promo budget to do something amazing. Maybe that's actually what they did!

That's pretty much what they did and it was worth it

This coming from the guy who was screaming the loudest about no trailer.

The loudest? I haven't been saying sh*t about the trailer for weeks after we finally got one. Every one continued to b*tch even AFTER we got one but I shut up and said all's good. Looks like certain people have selective memories. You're one to talk about whining, really.

ETA: Anyone with a positive non-b*tchy opinion have anything to say? I know that this is K-Site and all, but I know there are others that aren't just out to bash others and bash the show like certain posters here.

Oh, and PS, I'd also like to know where I claimed I was never complaining about no trailer. Seriously, I admitted it up front, but I even POSTED something along the lines of "well hopefully they're saving the budget for a great premiere/season". My God, why am I even responding to you? I totally forgot why I don't read some users' posts, because they have nothing positive to say, ever.

I was irritated as well about no trailer, but it was worth the wait. That was a great episode. Great fxs.

I didn't really care about no trailer (because I rarely see them anyway), and I don't really care for special effects..

But I do agree that they probabaly used advertising money on the premiere.
It looked good, but I would have been just as happy with a regular ol' episode.

Most people wouldn't, though, HeddyH. Premieres have to be big to draw most viewers in. This one accomplished that while still being a good episode overall.

Great episode.......I waited all summer for my favorite show to premiere and it rocked.

My God... Don't even pretend you didn't scream the loudest. Go back and read the trailer discussion. You were the worst of everyone. And even after the trailer came out, you decided to whine about Kara flying into the air.

Why the hell am I even responding to you too? You're about as close as anyone I've ever met to saying "Heil the Fuhrer" to Al/Miles.

Want some examples?

Be very ticked off? :P Seriously, I'm not gonna be one of the losers who claims they'll stop watching, but I think I've earned the right to be upset by it. And not to mention the ratings will probably be in the crapper if we don't get some kind of trailer at least two weeks prior to the premiere.

You all know how optimistic I've been about Smallville. I give them time and let them have a chance to produce a great trailer. But they've given us nothing. Here's how you know they screwed up: this is me saying, I've given up hope on the advertising department completely and utterly. Of course I'll still watch and love the show, but no more hopeful optimism when it comes to the trailer. I suppose they might air it after Phantom, but who knows anymore? *sighs and shakes head*

You try to make it seem like you're optimistic, but it's a veiled attempt. Yeah, you like the show, but you were blatantly pissed off about not having a trailer.

Hell, I decided not to post your whining about Kara blurring up during the long trailer.

We critique the show. Yes, there is more bad than good, but you b!tch and moan at us about pointing out how GOOD the show COULD be, when we're let down a lot.

Don't worry about him, Mello Penelo. He's the whiniest poster on the board. He won't let anyone criticize his Smallville, even if it is constructive. Here's some of my favorite quotes:

"*yawn*...were you actually saying something interesting? No? Okay."

"All of you are a bunch of b*tchy whiners who whine whine whine. You're not allowed to."

Honestly, MidgardDragon, you're the rudest poster I've ever met. You constantly ridicule people who criticize the show (IT'S A DISCUSSION BOARD!), post pointless posts that consist nothing but: "*yawn*", and whine more than anyone about other people who criticize the show. You're not a mod. Stop telling everyone what to do, and stop being so rude.

A lot of great FX shots, but honestly I expected more if they did actually use a majority of their budget on the episode.

Oh, I know a lot of people wouldn't be happy with the special effects. But I was just saying I would be fine without them. They don't really "make" or "break" an episode for me, you know what I mean.

I don't particularly love or hate Al/Miles, thanks. I like the show, I don't give a sh*t who created it.

Yea they probably saved the promo/advertising budget to use for episode Fx shots. Which were pretty dam good.

The premere looked great. Good fx shots. But I don't think they spent all their advertising money on this one. I think they saved some for "Kara".

MidgardDragon

I hope so Minela. Kara certainly looks great. And clearly the promo they gave us is from Kara, so maybe they did save some from Kara. Things are looking like they'll be less intense as of Fierce, though. I wish we could have another season that opens as strong as Arrival-Mortal-Hidden did in S5.

I think next episode will be good as far as character progression. Kara will come in, Lois will get her DP job, probably Jimmy will show up. Plus we'll surely get some great Fx Kara shots. So, I think next episode will even be better than this one. Can't wait.
