The boy that used to have the phantom in him reminded me a lot of the kid from Returns, personally. And the whole Bizarro being punched up towards the sun is like a reverse Returns moment.

I agree. I thought that was one of the greatest superman moments from this show.

Actually what's like Superman Return was the super hearing moment... Hearing all the sounds at once and then one sound coming clear over the chaos...

I loved that scene. It was so superman-like. She yells for help and who comes to her rescue and who's behind the rubble, CLARK KENT soon to be Superman. Awww man I love Superman and Lois

In fact the more I think about it the whole episode was a dedication to the Superman movies and its about time

Just watched the eppy again, not only was the whole Lois in the watery tomb a Superman Returns thing but they just had to make the kid that the Phantom inhabited in the finale, alive. Just like Superman Returns Lois was protecting Jason along side Richard and in Smallville our Lois was protecting the little boy and Chloe

The hearing scene, though, was clearly homage in the best of ways! I'm so excited just thinking of it! :)

(did anyone notice the nod to "SR" in the episode "Nemesis" as well, when Lex pulls the shard out of Clark and says, "you're the last person I'd expect to be pulling a shrabble out of Clark," or something to that degree? Foreshadowing for Lex in "SR" sticking him with Kryptonite shard and pulling it out of him?)

Great stuff! Love homages, especially Superman ones. And yes, I noticed the sunlight things as well, although that's more just a Superman thing in general (but I really loved how Bryan Singer did it, and then they did it just as perfectly in "Smallville", which was great).

Good point about that as well. Since the episode "Prototype" when they revealed Lex's secret dam, I instantly thought of the dam explosion in the original "Superman" movie. That was cool that it happened in a way like that, but different too.

I totally agree. There were alot of scenes not just the hearing and watery tomb. The scene where Clark is in the sunlight and he regains strength also a Superman Returns homage.
