Bizarro was a good episode. But there were things that could have been better. I don't like Chloe being a freak. The crisis with the dam was also solved way too fast. I still liked it though. I wish they wouldn't have made Bizarro lose so easily. He seems too weak in Smallville. Just get him out in the sunlight. They forgot that Clark doesn't need the sun shining on him to be powerful. Any residual sunlight, even on a cloudy day charges up his power. By that logic, Clark should get weak at night time (which wouldn't happen since there is still some residual sunlight getting to the part of the Earth where it's night from various reflections, etc).

But I can overlook all this. I'm glad that Bizarro is at least explained to be on Mars so he could come back.

My favorite premieres in order are now:

I like Bizarro the best. I would say Arrival, but too much Lana, too much of the plot was about Clark messing up over Lana. I would say Crusade, but I didn't like parts of that, and too much Lana. Bizarro was great, it seemed to have the perfect balance of all characters, and the best change in Clark. He's no longer a wimp who gets his but kicked or acts mopey to his mom.

He wasn't even moping over Lana's death, he just looked a little sad. It was a longe overdue change needed in Clark.

I hope they stay on this path, and keep Clark in the show, even when they bring in Kara.

See I think calling Exile the best premiere is a bit overly nostalgic. It was a great episode, but since then there have been better episodes and better premieres. If Arrival had aired in Season 2 I seriously doubt people would say Exile beat it.

I have to say, up until tonight I would have said Exile then Crusade. I went into Bizarro with lower expectations based on spoilers and lack of promotion, but I was sufficiently blown away. The whole tone of the show felt different. The effects were elevated and CK has taken on a much stronger demeaner. I loved it.

I don't understand how you could have hated Bizarro!!?!?!?! It was GREAT!!! I still love Exile and Arrival but Bizarro definelty topped last year. It was sooo good. And just visually beautiful! OHH my and the whole sun thing was just a fabulous way to tie in the superman stuff too. I guess that what i really look forward to and thats why i loved this episode. OH GOd, soo GOOD!!! I just hope lex goes evil again soon and lana dies again soon.

I liked Exile because it was *very* unpredictable regarding Clark & his parents as were the 2 episodes that led up to it. I didn't look at spoilers and had no idea what would happen. I was incredibly suprised with Morgan Edge. I also didn't expect the Jonathan-Jor-El pact or the fight that started. What I loved most was how it wasn't resolved in that 1 episode. The continuation of the vial of blood was brilliant writing. I also loved Lex's problems with sanity, which played a big role throughout the season. The effects of Clark running away were also felt throughout the season, and definitely made him more mature in his actions and attitude regarding Lana (which was pretty constant in season 3 except for Magnetic & Legacy, but unfortunately changed again in season 4).

I loved Arrival too. The only thing that made me like Exile better was the unpredictability. Arrival is almost tied with Exile. I actually thought that the Smallville of season 3 was back in full force after seeing Arrival, but Lexana & Reckoning are what ruined that season.

I don't care what season an episode is in. If it's good, I'll give it proper accolades. I rated Arrival better than Vortex even though I liked season 2 better than any other season as a whole.

I've been very disappointed in Smallville for quite some time... But I will say that this episode ROCKED. I would definitely say it was one of the best premiers.

Five or four? I always thought 4. But that was another reason I loved it. It was like a 4 part movie. I have the Canadian movie DVD version of the Pilot and Metamorphosis one episode led to another without any breaks and think that if they ever make another DVD movie like that, it should contain the episodes from Calling to Phoenix. I think the ending of Accelerate took place the same day as the beginning of Calling (on Clark's birthday).

The pilot and Metamorphosis led directly into each other in the US version too.

I said five because two episodes before the end of S2, you got "The Day Is Coming," which I consider part of the arc.

I loved Season 7's premiere, but I enjoyed 6 more. The ending with the final Phantom flying at the camera (An exact parallel to him flying as Bizarro face is revealed in the final episode of the season) was the clincher for me. The ending of a premiere or finale should be the most exciting, and that made me so excited.

I think this was the best!! Zod was cool, but having Bizarro come in was really awesome!! And it was cool how Clark figured out that while the sun charged him it would kill Bizarro...A clever moment!! Hehe :p But Clark vs Clark was just awesome!! And brownie points from me for bringing in my favorite superhero..Can't wait to see how Supergirl develops!! :)

You're kidding right? They crammed so many answers and new questions into one episode that I was surprised it was just a one hour episode. They definitely took their time and gave us lots of buildup with great payoff. Not rushed at all.

Season 7 all the way. You got a burst dam, Kara Zor-El, Chloe dead then not (same for Lana), Lex on the edge, Lionel in jeopardy, and Clark against his greatest adversary...himself! This premiere rocked completely; in my opinion, it's even better than "Justice".

It's between Bizarro, Crusade and Zod. Exile doesn't stand on it's own IMO. It's a two parter with Pheonix. I can't even begin to choose. Crusade had flight... Zod had the phantom Zone and raya... and Zod... Wow.

I know--I live in the US too. But the Canadian DVD has those 2 episodes combined as 1 movie. There are no ending credits between them. After that rotating view of the night sky in Pilot, it rotates to the beginning of Metamorphosis. The movie even has a scene after Clark saves Lex that wasn't shown on TV where Lex asks Clark "Hey kid, are you OK" and Clark just collapses. That happens as Clark is shown focusing on the bridge where the Porsche crashed through.

But isn't that 4? The day is coming was in Calling. The next episode was Exodus. Then there was Exile and after that was Phoenix where the related story ended. Unless you count the end of Accelerate, which seemingly is earlier on Clark's birthday (which was seen in Calling) since Clark is wearing the same shirt (which wasn't common back then).

I don't know if I can pick a favorite...I think I liked all of the season premieres for different reasons. That being said, Bizarro was pretty flippin' awesome, and it has definitely made me anxious for the rest of the season. IMO, if this episode is any indication of what the rest of the season will be like...I am in absolute bliss.

I loved last nights episode. "Arrival" and "Zod", IMO, are tough acts to follow, but "Bizarro" was pretty awesome. I loved how Clark blasted his heat vision to vaporize the river, for instance, contrasted with Bizarro using his heat vision to kill that random guy.

And Clark acting like Superman is always a plus :D

Bizarro topped Zod, IMHO. The special effects were awesome and the storu was handled very well. I was impressed by the music and some of the shooting, i.e. when Lex is under water and sees the light. Fantastic!

I really did like Bizarro but I absolutely loved Arrival and Zod was really well done I thought. Exile was good too. Well there goes that order. SV knows how to do their premeires and their finales.

Vortex, Exile, and Arrival were the ones that really were an indication of what was to follow. Vortex ended with the ship & the octagonal key missing and with Lex & Lionel at odds. I loved how so many of the episodes dealt with Clark's ship, the key, the cave, Lex's relationship with Lionel (which spawned off the Lucas plot). Exile was the same thing. It introduced Morgan Edge, Lex's insanity, and the importance of Clark's blood which were very big in season 3. It also contained Lionel's deal with Chloe, which was one of the biggest season 3 plots. Arrival introduced the FOS, the black ship, Brainiac, and Zod's minions (Nam-Ek & Aethyr). These played big in the first half of the season, then slowed down as it got a little 'shippy. Oracle & Vessel went back to this, but unfortunately the season from Reckoning through Fade was plagued with Lexana. Zod would have been indicative of S6 had season 6 focused a lot less on triangles between Chloe, Jimmy, Clark, Lex, Lana, Lois, and Oliver and more on the PZ prisoners.

The Pilot did set the tone for season 1 with the freaks and Clark going after Lana and discovering who he was and his friendship with Lex.

Crusade was the premiere that was least indicative of the rest of the season to follow.

I voted for Arrival, b/c that had so many good scenes it it. the FOS and Clark saving Chloe in the FOS;
but i have to say, Bizarro was almost my pick. i loved the effects and my favorite part was when Clark's wounds were healing in the sun while superman music was playing. SO GOOD :) not to mention i loved the scene where Clark's super-hearing goes into overdrive when he's told Chloe's dead. Truly great.

#1. ARRIVAL epic (2nd meteor shower), mythic (FOS), revelatory (Chlark) and darn cool (Brainiac, effects, music, polished product)

#2. EXILE riveting (3 shocking months later), dark (redK!Clark with a life) and cinematic (beautifully edited)

#3. ZOD interesting PZ and "kneel before Zod"

#4. VORTEX great villain interaction with JK, Lex and Jonathan shake hands, Clark saves Lana in a manner that will haunt her for years to come (beginning the dread yet pivotal secrets n lyz arc)

#5. CRUSADE meet Lois! yay! different world locations a little confusing. who's Jason? but Clark flies! Kal-El on a mission

#6. PILOT nostalgia value. man, were they young! the beginning of many things...(but otherwise a group of teenagers start their freshman year and face a one-time Scarecrow..um, yeah)

#7. BIZARRO action fights btwn Clark & Clark. mysterious blonde girl flies around. (not bad but a little less compelling than previous premieres).

This was a tough one. I found it hard to choose between "Arrival" and "Zod". I liked "Zod" because I thought it was cool to see the Phantom Zone for the first time since the Supergirl movie. But then Namek and Aethyr blowing everything up in "Arrival" was great. And I also liked Lana in that one because she was the first person to see the ship open. She was right there in the action instead of being unconcious somewhere. Plus she had the guts to stand up to Namek and Aethyr which I thought was a very positive move for her character.

Actually my least favourite premiere was "Bizarro". Just left me feeling cold. Except for Supergirl ofcourse. For me she was the best thing in it.
