it's love-hate now. When I think "Supergirl" I think someone who's a kid compared to the Big Blue Cheese, not someone who's so close to him in age. I'd rather she be PG, but she doesn't have the "right stuff" to fill that suit;) That's a minor gripe.

I think I'll like her. I always like it when they bring in someone so Clark doesn't feel alone.

I'm not sure...I didn't vote yet. I don't like the idea of Supergirl taking story time away from Lana and Chloe...They are my favorites. I'll see after I few weeks how I really feel. The most important thing about Supergirl is that this is not a show about her...it is a show about Clark Kent!!!

I have to admit, my first reaction to hearing she was gonna be on the show was "Hooray!!" followed by an immediate "Oh no!". I was worried about how they'd protray her. If you can't tell by my screen name, I'm a huge Supergirl enthusiast. I read all the comics, I've made her costume from the newest comic, and even act as her at comic book shops on free comic book day.

Although after seeing this episode, I'm sold. First off, the actress just looks amazing and I think the outfit they gave her is so funny and cute. They also made her seem more sad which she should be. I was worried that they were just gonna try to make her all bada$$ from the start. I want to wait until next week though before I give my absolute opinion.

So far, so good. I think the more Clark can learn about his family, the better. I think she may end up being the one that pushes him to use his powers more and will help him understand the true nature of his family and home planet.

Love her. Great characterization even for the short while she was in the episode. It showed she was a super-powered person who came from Krypton, yes. But it also showed she was still just a scared teenage girl who was far from home.

Too soon to tell. She had no lines and didn't do a lot.

Plus I've been against her coming in since I heared about it.
(It's not that I don't like Supergirl-I don't know anything
about her, really-I just think it's messing up the
continuity is all.)

MidgardDragon
09-27-2007, 11:21 PM
Smallville's continuity cannot be messed up by bringing in a new character. If you think this is messing up DC continuity, well, that has absolutely zilch to do with Smallville outside of a few key points like Clark becoming Superman, working at the DP, and falling in love with Lois.

And the lack of lines helped her stand out, because she got to act with facial expressions, which is a difficult thing to do, and she pulled it off.

Well in the Supergirl comics for the longest time it looked as though Kara was sent to earth by her jealous father, Zor-El to kill Kal-El so that she is the remaining Kryptonian. Though after a long time we finally find out that that was never his intention. It was some mind trick that another villain (i forgot who) was playing on her in order to figure if she's a true hero or not.

So I think it be kinda cool if at first we can't tell (and neither can she) if she's good or not. It would stay true to the comics at least.

ClarksGal
09-28-2007, 12:18 PM
I can't say for sure right now, but I like the idea [of Kara on the show]. I thought she looked beautiful in this epi, but nothing else is really known about how she will be portrayed. I have read the spoilers, but don't want to bring them up here, so based on what I've seen so far, I have no opinion one way or the other about what her character will add or take away from teh show.

I do think there is a lot of potential to give Clark some insight into Krypton, Kryptonians, and to help him find out what parts of himself come from that. And also to help him define himself as both human and Kryptonian, which is how he comes to be Superman, IMO. He's both.

So I guess my answer is that if Kara is used in the show to compliment Clark and his journey, and maybe to add some humor, then I'm all for it. If it ends up being the Supergirl show, I will be sad.

They made us think Zor-El and Kara were out to get clark in her latest run in the comics too, but we found out that was all a test for Kara. I'm guessing smallville will do the same. Make us think Zor-El is evil, just like they did Jor-El. We'll find out later that he's not.

Just want to get your opinion on something hypothetical at this point. I'm not saying it will happen like this, but if this season turns out to focus too much on her causing Clark to be under-developed and characters who won't be around for another season like Chloe, Lionel, Lex, and Lana to not get properly wrapped up (or wrapped up in a crappy way), will you still think it was a good idea of bringing her in? I know you like her now, so I'm just interested in what your opinions (independent of whether or not you think Clana angst would ruin it instead if Kara wasn't on the show) are if she does steal the thunder.

Like I said...just a hypothetical.

For me, I'll have no problems with her if 2 conditions are met:

1. She doesn't steal the thunder (i.e. Karaville)

2. When the season is done, if Clark has greatly progressed in his path towards becoming Superman without being able to say that it was all because of Kara

I liked Raya because both of these same conditions were met with her. I actually hoped she would be in 2 more episodes before being killed off. I wanted to see Clark & Raya vs. Nam-Ek & Aethyr. Unfortunately the writers didn't have Clark go back to the FOS in scenes with Jor-El to find out more about Krypton after killing her off.

exactly and things went from bad to worse for her in the comics after that. instead of being accepted and welcomed no-one trusted her(not even krypto) then she found out about the kill kal-el thing, then she went on a downward spiral with captain boomerang jr and nightwing. Hopefully they follow canon:lol:

I like the back long but the front short. I hate long hair in the front. It makes people who have it like that look like a monkey. Either that, or it just looks better on some people than others. Dr. Cameron (from House) in season 3 had longer hair in front of her forehead, yet she looked pretty good. That look just doesn't fit Allison IMO. I like how it was shorter & parted somewhat in season 5. I liked her hairstyle the best in that ending montage in Covenant and in Arrival when she was in the FOS. I seriously thought in the episode Labyrinth when she pulled up in her car, she looked like that junkie/criminal/etc who shot Lex in the back in Lexmas.

I'm not voting because I haven't seen Kara enough to even have an opinion! This show has never been very close to cannon especially when it comes to characters being brought in early like Lois and Jimmy.

Well, with all the blonds perhaps its time for someone to go brunette, thats if, you really are the real Lois, Ed Lo. I too agree Supergirl was brought on for ratings eye candy. I hope she doesn't take away from others story lines who are much more important at this point. It seems most people are looking forward to Supergirl, but I think its too late in the game to have made her a regular cast member.

MidgardDragon
09-30-2007, 09:09 AM
Being able to fly, run faster then Clark, or be stronger...none of these things are what makes Clark the best. Not only can he do them all, but he is a true hero, saving lives and risking his own to do so on many occasions. Being better is not a matter of what you can do, but rather what you do with the abilities you're given.

I have to agree with the criticisms finding Kara yet another Hero-role model for Clark. Do we really need yet another super-type who knows more about Krypton than Clark? It would be nice to have a bit of a reversal here... more like what they did with his relationship with the Flash character.

You just must not like hot chicks, because that KARA was SMOKIN!!!She was so tasty they brought her back for Aquaman and Supernatural Tapped her to be SAMs girlfriend. I gotta say that I liked that scene with her on top of the water tower when she was looking at the bracelets. I didn't like the part when she stood up. There's a general rule that actors are not supposed to make eye contact with the camera. I didn't mind it too much though. As far as looks, I have seen much hotter females on this show (I thought Desiree, Alicia, Helen, and Victoria Hardwick were hotter), but she certainly doesn't look bad. I just hope they can control themselves and don't overexpose her with airtime so they could properly conclude the fates of several characters that won't be around for another season (and Clark). I hope she works with Lex for a while since that would make things interesting.

Kal26
10-08-2007, 03:22 PM
Right. Not to mention, when Kara in the comics became supergirl she was much younger. That's why she was called supergirl. She actually was a girl. Anyway woman, or man, you are still a boy, or girl. Male, or Female. All words meaning pretty much the same thing. I'm 27 now, and would not have called myself a man at 19. People like to think they are worthy of that title at 18 because our government tells us that we are adults. However, that's a title that must be earned, not given. I don't care if you are 75, if you still act like a boy, you are a boy. It's dependant on the person, not the age. Even then, if I was called a boy, I wouldn't take offense to it, as I would know that the meaning was male. Getting upset over something like that seems trivial to me. If I am an adult, people will know that from my actions, not my title.

Well Kara could never do anything right in the eyes of the fanbase. He existence alone was an affront. If she actually did something it would take the focus from clark in their eyes. If she did nothing well then she's useless, you see? Even the whole Lara thing annoyed people, how dare Kara remember more about Krypton than clark after she spent 19 years there!:p
