With the way she looks - and she flies pretty well - does it matter?

wouldnt it be better to introduce such an important character a few episode on in the series? the bizarro storyline is big enough alone.

I think that kara is going to be one of the bad guys. And she is going to be a thorn in there backsides from what i read from the spoilers.

I wasn't thrilled to see her resurrection in the comics and I'm not really looking forward to it now. "Last Son of Krypton"...it used to be such a nice idea. A shocking suggestion I'm sure, but I kinda would like to simply see more of a focus on a young Clark Kent growing into his iconic role. *sigh*

CountryGirl84
09-26-2007, 10:35 PM
well technically he still is the last son of krypton seeing as she'd be a daughter.... and its not as if he and his cousin are going to go making little kryptonian boys together  Ou maybe there will be something with Lex and Kara... there was one storyline where he was her boyfriend for a while. He needs a rebound girl anyhow now that lana has abandoned him! Honestly there are a lot of different supergirls and storylines they could draw on from the superman mythos. I think she'll be an interesting addition to Smallville.

Yea i cant wait to see how the real kara is going to be used this season, cant wait to see her in action.

i'll give her a chance but i just feel like it's just another way to entice publicity/attention to the new season & premere. but hey if it works it works!

clark must be slow compaired to other krytonians they spend less than a day on earth and they end up more powerful unlike clark who spent almost what 20 years on earth

compaired to thease other guys and girls clark is a little slow?

and we have seen about 7 kryptonians so far all did the same thing power wise

superhippie2000
09-27-2007, 11:46 AM
well clark was raised human so he hasnt had anyone to train him and the others have been raised kryptonian for their whole life so they would have more practice.

BABarracus
09-27-2007, 11:53 AM
they wouldnt have any prictice comming from a red sun but clark lived his life under the a yellow sun krytonians heard roumers about earth and the yellow sun it not like they all took a class on operating super powers in the event they need to come to earth.

only way you could explain it is if they stopped by the sun on the way in but like zod and the other captive from the phantopm zone they came directly from a red sun and just showed up on earth their power should be less

superhippie2000
09-27-2007, 12:00 PM
Im guessing all kryptonians at a certian age need to practice or something. like Jor El in relic. I dont know even in the movies and stuff they all tend to know how to use their powers.

Kara is the main reason I am tuning in this season.
Her and the rumor of a new JLAer showing up.

It's clearly a ratings ploy to garner the female demo and if it works Kudos to TPTB if not, bye bye SV.

I believe they went the Kara route to setup a spin off.
Aquadude didn't pan out, maybe Karaville will.

CountryGirl84
09-27-2007, 04:59 PM
A spin off would be great! We all know Smallville can't go on forever, I mean poor Tom Welling is already 30! How long can he stay in Smallville limbo for?

Also:

For the record, I'd like to point out that every single thing any TV show every does is a "rating's ploy"... Of course they want ratings, its the nature of their business. No ratings means no show for us to watch.
I also don't really understand when people give up on Smallville because they're bringing in all kinds of new characters, Supergirl, JLA or whatever, because that is the nature of a comic book. Before people complain about a COMIC book tv show, I wish they would pick up a comic book and read it, you know at least one single time in their life.

Kara, tho having her own episode, the 2nd, will be the cliffhanger for the end of the episode. I mean, finally, we get to see her on Smallville

As far as the Kryptonians having more power under the sun... I will speculate...

All of the Kryptonians have been older than Clark. Clark is just now becoming a huge solar battery. He would be the equivalent of a Jr in college which is about 21 (speaking of... what happened to any and all signs of college last season?) Then again... it's possible that all of the kryptonite radiation over the past seven years have played some roll on stunting his powers? (Again, just speculation)

I am again looking forward to Smallville now that Kara is on the scene.

Most of the soap opera stuff is getting old, now I have something else to watch between the other stuff.

CountryGirl84
09-27-2007, 08:30 PM
I was thinking kind of along the same lines Lunar. Wasn't Kara stuck on earth for the entire time just in suspended animation. So she may be young physically but she's been on earth just as long as Clark plus the time she was alive before him (16 years or so I think, something like that)

I don't think age should have anything to do with it. I think it should have more to do with how much time one is exposed to the sun. And Clark has more of that than Zod, Kara, Aethyr, Nam-Ek or any other Kryptonian who ever appeared on this show.

I'm still not sure how she appeared. Was she trapped in the dam? Where was her ship? I have to watch that again since I was very confused at that point.

I'm just watching the episode again and I REALLY love the scene that they introduced Kara in. It looked amazing with her floating in the water. Very feminine and powerful, spiritual looking. Interesting cinematography.

She was super! I loved the heavenly angel scene. Lex must have thought he had died and gone to heaven, then immediately thought there is something wrong with this picture.

well at least they didnt do the old "hi im your cousin im here to live with you"

and clark is like "sure lets all be friends"

**thinking damn shes my cousin**

kind of makes me think if bizzaro used xray vision on lois

the whole thing where super heroes are being freind has a point and overly trusing people when they first meet

batman will investigate his new partners atleast

They did an excellent job with her introduction. They didn't overpower the viewers with her presence in the season premiere. Let's hope they ease her in over the next couple of episodes.

Ugh. Ever since I heared about Kara showing up, I've been thinking that it's way, way too soon.

Besides, I didn't like her on JLU like I thought I would.

New characters are refreshing, but bringing her in now just
doesn't feel right to me. I guess because it feels like their
ruining the mythos. Isn't Clark supposed to discover her
much later, when he's Superman?
(He should've met Lois and Jimmy later by that logic,
but with Kara it feels different.)

Plus her intro was wierd.
I was thinking something like 'So. This is it. Kara shows
up in a bedsheet.'
....
....
What?? I thought her dress strongly resembled a bed sheet!

Very, very wierd intro. And even wierder ending with the
street clothes and all. And what was with her playing with
the bracelet?

BABarracus

mabey she had some special brownies and she was thinking ooohhh shiny

it could have been like clarks octogon key or just a family heirloom

CountryGirl84
09-27-2007, 10:34 PM
isn't the kryptonian garb always flowey and white like bedsheets lol
i think they did a great job with her intro, people were all concerned about her being shoved into the season premiere as a gimmick but they did it very tastefully as YouandMe1105 was saying with easing her into the episode and not really making her a main part.

batman might be one ofthose thing they are saving for the series finale if it should happen(highly doubtful) but it could be something along the line of worlds finest

there would have been a batman series like smallvile if it was not for the tim burton movies.

nextworks said no to it might have ended up being campy like those movies bad after taste

angellwings
09-27-2007, 11:06 PM
I don't see what the Tim Burton movies have to do with a Batman TV show. Other than possible liscensing issues. The Batman movies were actually what revived the Comic Book movie trend in my oppinion. At least the first two any way. And there will not be a Bruce or Batman in this at all. They've said so several times. Accept it. I've accepted no Wonder Woman.

anyways back to Kara.

I thought it was done very tastefully. And I loved that she had this heavenly look about her. It makes Lex's interest perfectly understandable, and is it sad that it reminded of "The Little Mermaid"? lol.

I loved that ending shot with her. I'm glad they didn't do what they did with Jimmy. You know the awkward Scene with him and Chloe and Clark. I like that there was very little interaction between her and the rest of the cast.

All in all very good.

No offense but I never found Supergirl interesting as a character. She is just another example of a female version of an existing male superhero.

Now if it was wonder woman, now that is something else!!!

STFanatic
09-28-2007, 11:22 PM
Wonder Woman was a female verson of Superman too.

Actually, all costumed superheroes are.

globalbudd3
09-28-2007, 11:30 PM
That may be true in some regards but wonder woman had powers and origin independant of other superheroes. Supergirl is reliant on the character of superman origins and powers etc.
