Nope. All of Canada's Smallville-airing stations are showing Bizzaro on Thursday. Then starting with Kara, they show on Wednesday.

Um...hello Bizarro is really "Clark"/same actor....so of course he is hot...DUH!

Sorry...not to sound mean!! I didnt mean to! but yeah I am really excited for the premeire....it should be really good but I think that it could be better if the CW would advertise it a little more...IMO

My Episode Highlights(In no specific order):

-Bizarro squeezing Lois' butt and flirting with her

-Any moment that Clark and Bizarro were fighting

-The fact that there was little mention of Clana

-Supergirl's little appearance

-Any moment with Chloe on the screen

-The fact that Lan was not in the episode till the last 3 minutes. I like her, but Im just sick of her...

-The fact that the entire Bizarro thing has not been resolved is great as it gives us something to look forward to this season.

It was a really good episode, though I am so sick of Clark brooding over Lana. I like the fact that Chloe is doing her best to keep her little power a secret from Clark though I dont fully understand why fully.

I gave it an 8. A semi - introduction of SuperGirl, Lex in Jail, Bizzaro Fight, MM, Chloe dead then alive, etc. Pretty Good!

Yeah I liked the episode although parts of it were a little confusing like lex mentioning project 503 and why if Clark knew Chloe had powers she hides them from him.

This was a great episode. glad manhunter is back and kara was pretty cool. the bizarro scenes were probably my favorite of the episode. Whens the repeat?

one thing about lanas blonde wig im assuming she is in china to huide and blend in so wouldnt being the only blonde in china make her stand out.

10/10 - Wonderful. The only complaint I have is that it was just a mild glimpse of things to come and could've been so much better if it had been combined with 7-02: Kara and made into a 2 hour episode. It doesn't make much sense that Smallville couldn't get a 2 hour premiere yet they're just playing a rerun after it. And next week's episode looks great.

Thought it was good- like when we see another side of Clark/Bizzaro. Lana not in it till the last few minutes, maybe that could be a gift from the writers she only appears for the lase few seconds of each episode.
Lex in jail-he'll probably pull an OJ.
Lois telling Clarke he'd better not grab her a** again ahd his shocked expression--loved it!!

I thought they did an awesome job. I loved the fight scenes. And the fact that Bizarro might be back :)

The only thing I could have done without is the Lana in the bad wig. They could have just left that out entirely and then brought it up in a few episodes.... keep people guessing.....

But overall - I think that if they stay on with this kinda stamina we're in for a fun ride this season.

This season premiere was totally super and definitely worthy of a perfect score. I believe this episode shows why Smallville is still one of the best shows around: because it has something for everyone be it action, drama, or romance.

If the rest of the season is anything like this, I think we're in for some truly super stories.

I liked it.
The "Lex sees an angel" part was funny, the Lois ass grab was great, the super punch through the tree top was super smooth.

The "Since Lana is dead, nothing else matters" mope hurt to witness.

Kara was great!

If they could do the flying sequences more like Heroes does, it would be much better. Flying doesn't have to be all out or nothing, a nice smooth floating fly away would be better, they did it in the 70's Superman and later in the Supergirl movie, they can do it here.

Excellent episode. Gave it a 10. Probably the strongest opening seasons ep since the First season. Reasons: tight dialogue, great special effects, great acting from Welling and Mack, and a story that was satisfying while setting up some intriguing possibilities--and of course, the Martian Manhunter. Been waiting all summer for this and was worth the wait. Congratulations to everyone on the Smallville Team.

That was a heckofa season opener. With the sun beaming down on Clark, he really looked like Superman to me.

And poor Lex. I wanted to give him a hug. I'm just a sucker for a bad boy in love.

I really enjoyed it all, until right at the end. I have nothing against Kristin Kruek; I liked her very much in Partition. But I'd be just as happy if Lana went away for good.

I was very happy to see Mr. Ashmore's name in the credits. I look forward to the return of Jimmy.

This ep was okay.

Heavy on the FX but little everything else.

Bizarro took up most of the ep and he wasn't anything great. He reminded me too much of Red K Clark. I was expecting this dude to be a straight up killling machine. And here he was acting like Kal with Lois.

Yeah, it was kinda funny, but it took away the danger/menace that Bizarro had in last seasons finale.

And WTF with Lex being all pious again? Let this dude be evil already!

And WTF with Kristin's name being 3rd in the cast credits?

The best part was Lana walking the streets of Shanghai in that tight red dress. Gorgeous.

And I did like the ending with both Clark and Lana looking up at the sky together.

Overall not a bad ep, but not anywhere near great.

re: Lana at the end. It didn't really take away anything from the episode, they just shouldn't have bothered with the horrible wig. Put her in big sunglasses or something if you want her to look "in disguise" but even though I thought she looked pretty good as a blonde, it just was kind of cheap with the whole wig thing.

I give it a 9. An outstanding episode. The only thing that kept it from perfection, was that it seemed like they kinda crammed everything in (though I'm glad they answered the Lana question right away). There was definitely enough material here for a two-parter.

Wow, that was an amazing episode.

The fights between Clark and Bizarro were very good, that deep voice TW used when playing Biz sounded cool, I could completely understand why Lex thought an angel saved him, the SFX looked good, the acting was top notch, the parts where Clark saved the boy and his dad and where he stood up to MM were spine tingling.

Plus, that has got to be the best recap SV has ever put together & the opening credits look way better than last year (except no AOT *tear).

it was a great eppy. In fact may be the best season priemere now, well atleast for me. I loved how they focused more on the sun being one of Clarkie's greatest strengths. Love the new credits, alot. Loved the scene between Lois and Bizarro. Tom really did an awesome job on playing Bizarro. Love how they enhanced the superhearing allowing Clark to hear alot more things and how he listened for Chloe. Love the scene betweem Lois and Clark at the end of the eppy. Lois was so understanding of Clark going through a difficult time. Erica did awesome in the scene as usual. Loved the introduction of Kara and I was totally shocked at what Lex decided to do.

I loved the entire episode...I'm not really into the Supergirl thing...and so I could have done without that... but it was ok. And I know that most of you on this site wish that Lana would fall of the face of the earth...but you know Clark would only save her, but I truly love that she's back! I think this season is going to be a really great one!!!! I just hope they feature more of Lana and Chloe over Lois and Supergirl. Sorry I just happen to love our two girls that have been on Smallville since the beginning.

I gave it a 5. It wasn't completely horrible nor was it one of te "better" episodes.

Smallville seems to be lacking in the story department. The episodes seem to be too rushed, trying to fit too much storyline in and in some parts not quite make sense (does Chloe know what happened with her, what happened to lois between the butt grab and the I forgive you scene.) Plus chloe dies just to be alive the next scene, let us sweat it...like more action between Clark and Bizarro. I think that some areas they just needed to expand or not introduce it at all.

Clark vs. Bizarro - 10 out of 10 stars.

Kara's first appearance - 9 out of 10

Tom's glint in his eye as he portrays Bizarro - 10 out 10

Chloe's Lazarus act - 8 out of 10

Lex's lost boy act - 9 out of 10

Lionel's and Lana's disappearing act - 8 out of 10

All in all a 9 out of 10 stars for the episode, but the best is yet to come!

Ok thought I was the only one. Yes, way to many.

Some excellent lines, espically Clark finally admitting that he is going to stop apologizing for his humanity. Had to cheer on that one.

The Good
~TW as Bizarro.....so sexy and so bad :D
~yellow sun vs kryptonite....such a good push towards seeing superman's future

The Okay
~MM....loved him and wanted to see more
~Chloe- I like her in general but can't see why she wouldn't spill to clark
~Supergirl...and interesting intro, but i'm reserving judgement until i see more

The Bad (not horrible...just bad)
~Lex in jail- I want evil Lex Luthor to be evil for more than just getting dumped
~Lana- hahaha...such a bad wig. I'm over Clana. The only way this will be remotely okay is if they finally (FINALLY) bring some closure to it

I thought this was a great ep. Loved the introduction of Supergirl. Loved the emotional interaction between the characters. Loved that even with the survival of Lana and Chloe, it didn't feel as though a reset button had been pressed. Loved each actor's individual performance - everyone rocked tonight. Especially TW, whose deep, sexy Bizarro voice must stay, somehow. Loved the special effects. Loved the episode's flow. Loved smarter Lois and Clark. LOVE Martian Manhunter. Loved what little I saw of Kara, and look forward to seeing her again next week. Loved the special effects, especially Bizarro pushing the green-K rocks into his chest. Loved the fight! Loved the way Clark ended the fight!

Oh, forget something. I liked how they set up all the storylines. Like the person dragging Lionel away, Lex's project he was talking to Balentine about, Kara coming to town, Lana running to China (although the wig was fugly), Bizarro not dieing, Chloe keeping her power to herself, etc.

Btw, while I was watching it, the audio "popped" a few times. Did this happen to anyone else?

One major question.

How did they do an autopsy and a death certificate if there was no Lana Luthor body?
We saw the death certificate just under Chloe's.

MidgardDragon
09-27-2007, 07:55 PM
Maybe since there wasn't a body they were able to just write that an autopsy wasn't possible at the time and go ahead and write up the death certificate?

Good Ep.

The only thing I would have changed is the whole Lana alive suspense should have been held out for a couple of episodes. And the wig... she already looks like she could blend in around Shanghai. The wig was just bad.

Not really, the only reasoning would be to make a reference to canon, which isn't an actual storyline reason. I'd prefer no wig at all.

Thats the reasoning behind having red. The point of the wig was to show the drama of taking it off, her hiding out in disguse

Typically, it can take three years to get a death certificate without a body, a waiting period used to prevent fraud. (Hmm.. not in this case right ;) )

Maybe next week they will explain it.

Well, this is a TV show, they need to break the laws of reality once in a while to make it work. That's why we as human beings have suspension of disbelief when it comes to fiction. If we didn't we wouldn't like anything but stories about people doing everyday boring stuff.

I thought it was good. I liked it a lot better than the season finale. It was nice to see Clark actually beat a powerful villian like Bizarro in a fight. We see too few of that. Always good seeing Phil Morris as Martian Manhunter. Good early glimpse of Supergirl and I'm looking forward to next week. Lana looked good in the wig but I wish they would end the relationship with Clark once and for all.

Still, no episode of Smallville could be complete without...

-The Smallville Medical Center. Perhaps the show's most visable recurring character, we get several scenes in it.

-Another dead Luthor bodyguard. Seriously, I don't care how much he pays...who would want to work security for Lex when the job as a 99% percent fatality rate?

-Clark moping and blaming himself for something.

-Product placement

-TOO MANY DAMN COMMERCIALS

Still, I liked the episode. Wonder if poor Lionel will wake up with Kathy Bates from Misery. ;)

Maybe they figured that they had an eye wittness and thats all they needed? I am not sure, but I think that some teeth and bone fragments would survive normally and that would arouse suspicion.

Also did Chloe tell the hospital she was alive again?

One thing I forgot to add about Manhunter...is he going to do more than just talk to Clark and conviently not help him in battle? He's got to do more than just give Clark his running orders.

That would make the fight super short I guess. Maybe the next time there will be more opposition?

I LOVED this episode. For some reason it exceeded my expectations. First, let me talk about hte credits. I was GEEKING OUT when LEX LUTHOR came RIGHT AFTER Clark Kent. That is HOW THE CREDITS SHOULD'VE BEEN FOR OVER SEVEN YEARS STRAIGHT!!! Bizzaro was sick, twisted, and I loved him for it. The complete opposite of Clark. And then...there are those signs of GOOD Lex finally taking shape......and it's going to make his downfall EVEN MORE TRAGIC AS HE IS FINALLY GIVEN ONE MORE CHANCE AT LIFE...YET WE ALL KNOW WHAT HE'LL BECOME...I bet all of you it's going to be Lionel Luthor's fault. 9/10 for me man.....and Clark seemed very SUPERMANLY for me today. I'm STILL against the whole Kara thing but hey..whatever..

I think this episode ranks as one of the best season openers (next to 4.01 "Crusade"), and it had a good mix of what Smallville is now and what it started out to do. The absence of Martha Kent was hard for me to get over, and its going to be a very interesting season without parental advice for Clark. Finally we get to see him on his own, with only his friends to back him. It's the foundation for what I think could be the best season yet - if the Smallville crew can churn out episodes like tonight's. Here's hoping!!!

MM was told not to interfere unless absolutely necessary. If Clark didn't have things under control he would have stepped in.
Like he said, "bravery you can't teach". Wanted to see how he would handle the challenge.

Could have been better. I think if they'd have made it a 2 hour premiere it would have been better. There seems to be some spots where they could have added more (Lois and Chloe talking after Chloe's come back to life would have been nice) but other than that it was decent.

Though I think we could have done without the moon scene at the end. I thought I'd been dropped into a sappy romantic comedy or something there for a minute. That was so corny it wasn't funny.

posting this a few hours after the airing so i would have time to calm down a bit lol. plus i wanted to see what others had thought and it looks like everyone thought the same as i did.

what a totally awesome start to the season! best season opener of the series i really think and i've liked most of them honestly.

special effects were simply amazing! all those commercials does make sense lol. i think it always seems like so many commercials because they always seem to happen when you become really involved in the episode. plus its easy getting used to there not being commericals when you rewatch the series on dvd lol.

i think the writers of the show do an amazing job. to keep this show going on now for a seventh season you have to give them a lot of credit for keeping it interesting. those that think the show has lost its way really are off the mark. the show has grown from its beginning. you can tell clark is getting closer and closer to his destiny every year and the stories they wrap around this overall main story is very impressive. they keep me wondering what they will do next anyways.

clana haters really get over it. this is smallvillle not your superman comic book. i have never considered myself really into the superman story until smallville happened. yes that is where clark is heading towards but this isn't that story. lana lang is the love of his young life and smallville is wrapped around that. we all know what lies ahead and clark's destiny to become superman and to be with lois. as episode 13 of season six said and i quote clark on red k to lois "this isn't the future - this is the present". stop watching it if you hate it so damn.

i love the way with the season premere they really hinted at storylines to come. the past season premeres do feel rushed at times but this year at least kara is spilling into the next episode along with some other unanswered questions and events.
i can't wait for the weeks to come and will be tuned in to discover the answers.

i have liked the kelly clarkson song "sober" since her last cd came out. felt it went perfect with the show and the moments it was used for. props for their song choices in this series. the superman music/theme during the clark/bizarro fight was amazing.

this was really a perfect episode. i give it ten blonde lana wigs.

OH MY FREAKING GOD!!!!!!!

A W E S O M E ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !

I haven't read anyone else's comments, nor have a lot of time tonight to read tons of posts, but I gotta rant. I am bouncing off the walls, that was so freaking awesome it rocked!

Everything was cool...and "Reeves" or "Reeve's" Dam was so cool; whether George from the 1950s or Chris, paying tribute to the best of Supermen!

When Clark saved the fisherman and his kid, what a total Superman moment!!!!

I guess Kara will be a regular judging from the credits (and I did not read anything prior to tonight, so it's all new to me); but....what about Annette O'Toole? I hope she will still have some appearances.

And of course...Chloe....Chloe...Chloe, truly vulnerable realizing what happened to her, and so cool snapping back to Clark, "....not the time for 20 questions." Her burning the certificate at the end...yow, I can't say enough about the ep right now!!!

If this season continues to rock like this, send me to Belle Reeve!!!!

I love how they introduced Bizarro. (distorted face, kryptonite = steroids, the deep voice, etc ). I hate how Martian Manhunter simply carried him into the atmosphere (Okay so now what? What's going to happen to Bizarro?).

I love how Supermanly Clark was in this episode. It was awesome seeing him vaporize the dam water. I love how he told Martian Manhunter that his humanity is a part of him. The scene were he talks about how looking at Bizarro showed him what he could become was awesome.

New Credits were great. Yay for Laura!

I liked it a lot but I only gave it 8 out of 10. That first scene with Clark evaporating the water was the lamest thing i've ever seen. I know he was super speeding and all so the water would look like it had stopped but the graphics looked seriously bodge - I almost wish Clark HAD used the Superman 4 blue ray vision power to rebuild the dam - that would have been a hell of a lot better!

Apart from that I loved it. Some interesting things have been set in motion. Like who dragged Lionel away - I thought maybe it was the martian manhunter and why Lana is in China also Chloe's take on her power.

I thought Bizois was quite funny - although I have to say Lois doesn't really have much of an ass to look at to be honest but he could hardly have grabbed her boobs
I kind of wished that they had kept Kara in her krytonian toga until she met Clark and got some earth clothes but I guess they were eager to have her flying in the iconic colours.

Overall a very good start to the season.

Best Premier for Smallville IMHO. I was kept on the edge of my seat through out the whole thing.

For the poster who asked why Lana is in China its because she faked her death and ran away from Lex.

This Season Premiere was Awsome. I give it a 10! Smallville is my favorite show! It didn't dissapoint me. I was so excited. I was like wow the whole show. I loved Chloe's quote about Clark Flying " He can fly?" God Clark, you gotta get on that one." I was like omfg lmao. That has to be one of the best smallville quotes of the entire series. Overall an awsome episode and the upcoming season promises to be a big one!

They crammed too much into one epy as some ppl already said, and there was just too much talking between Bizzaro and Clark and not enough action. Their slow motion fight was kinda lame.

And ok, the sun healing clark thing? The sun's always been there, and it never had such a significant impact on clark..and now bam, it's so helpful!

I really didn't like Tom's acting in regards to grief over Lana in this one. His sad face was so forced... Chloe CRIED and Lex showed way more emotion than Clark. Ok, so he was listening to her death on the radio at the end, but his expressions/actions/dialogue didn't convince me at all. Only the last bit when they were both looking at the moon was slightly more real. The scene where Lionel tells Clark about Lana's death in "Phantom" was so much better. Now that was great acting. Tom's face was totally convincing. But not in this episode.

And Lana w/ the blonde wig...so glad it's just a wig.

Too much cheesy stuff...Kara was fine until the end when she just HAD to put her arms on her hips and pose. And martin manhunter did that too when we first see him. I hope they cut down on that..

and the effects weren't so good..

and the new credits were really short...i was looking forward to a new styled theme too...

EDIT: okay I rewatched the episode and I take some stuff back, it's pretty awesome EXCEPT for the Bizarro-Clark fight and Kara's flying that looked too lame. and the cheesy stuff.
Tom's acting as Bizarro is soo good, much better than when he's Clark I think.

Not only was this the best season premiere, but it was also the best episode ever! The only thing that could have made this episode any better would be if it had been two hours. I can't wait to see what happens next. If they put as much awesomeness in the overall season, as they did in this episode, then this will clearly be the best season ever. It is episodes like this one that got me addicted to Smallville in the first place. I only have two complaints...

complaint #1: Lana's wig
complaint #2: having to wait a week for the next episode

I gave it a 10/10, they put some effort into this one. The two parts that Tom played were outstanding you can almost see acting skills getting better and better each week, keep it up Tom..

One thing is that I wish that it would of been at least a 90 min show but for each question that it answer there were more being placed and not answered (I guess we will have to wait until they will give us the answer's..

Any how an outstanding show now I have to wait until next week to see how they have Clark and Kara meet....

Keep up the great start for Season 7, we just need it to be this way for the full season... Once again OUTSTANDING.....

I haven't seen the show yet, I'm responding to some posts I've seen thus far.

I'm not big into CLANA either - but all the Lana bashing - in my eyes, I think she totally redeemed herself towards the end of last season...

Although one poster said something like "maybe that's a gift from the writers, Lana only in the last few minutes of each episode..." Now THAT was funny! (LOL <-- Really, I Laughed Out Loud!)

One thing I have to say about Clark's two roles, that might sound silly - I never really noticed that it wasn't two different actors. What I'm saying is, I knew TW was playing both parts, obviously, but there was no part during the episode where I thought to myself "Tom's playing both parts" because it stood out. That whole deepening of the voice and recracking of the face was a brilliant touch to make it not just RedK Clark.

Yep, but 1) MM helped him formulate the plan and I guess wasn't sure if Clark could do that, and 2) they needed to make sure whatever happened to Bizarro didn't kill him because he's coming back.

Don't worry about not catching what happened to him, I didn't catch Chloe's sunny side of Mars reference until the second viewing.

I liked the deeper vioce bizzaro had and the bad boy look that was hot. I also liked the heart to heart Lois and Clark had and I liked his face expersion when Lois said if you grap my a$$. it was just so funny. I will say I did not like Lanas wig I think the black hair would have been better because it would have blended in more. I am just a little mad that Chloe didnt tell Clark about her power I hope she does tell him in the next couple episodes all in all I thought it was great I gave it a 10. the actors did great TW did an amazing job playing bizzaro. i liked this premiere, and i gave it a 7. why only a 7 and not a 10? cuz so much more could have been done. i agree with others that Bizarro should've killed Lois, not grabbed her ass. the fight scenes were alright. maybe even a little rushed. And why is KK still on this show?? i was a big clana lover until they ruined that and the whole show with it. if almiles weren't so hot for KK this show could have gone places. back to the episode though, no lana equals big plus for me. why is chloe hiding what her power is? she knows clark's secret, he knows she is a meteor freak, she was pronounced dead and now is living.....who took lionel?? that will be interesting. would have liked a 2 hour premiere to get to the bottom of kara's appearance and all of that. this show is still decent, but i actually do like Heroes better, and I have watched smallville from the Pilot on! i blame KK, almiles, and WB.

he didnt kill Lois because he was/is hot for her.he said how could clark not see what was right in front of him. having clarks dna Bizzaro sees it before clark does (his future falling for lois). where clark will have grerat passion for Lois Bizzaro has great Lust for her.why would he kill her especially since he figured he would get back to her after he killed Clark. of coarse it never happened, but still.......

I give it a 10. A lot to like and few disappointments.

Nice dam bursting special effect to start off.

Nuke heat vision take 2 (since Prototype) but on a much larger scale with the vapor effect and nice reaction from the kid.

Enough differences between Bizarro and RedK Clark – Deep voice, wonky heat vision, chiseled face, homicidal tendencies, sun weakness.

Angelic intro of SuperGirl with Lex thinking she was an angel – but what happens when he makes the connection between her and Clark.

Nice flying effects especially the first SuperGirl flight.

Nice to see the kid survived from Phantom. Must have been that the phantom left before the 24 hours were up to get to Clark.

Bizarro healing with Kryptonite.

Superhearing effect similar to Superman Returns (which I watched right before tonight’s episode) where Clark hears everything before picking out Chloe’s screams.

Nice camera work of Clark pulling Chloe out on the tray in the morgue.

Closeup of Lois’ a$$.

“This guy can fly? God, Clark you’ve got to get on that one.”

Getting advice from Martian Manhunter, his new mentor. Like that Clark will no longer apologize for his humanity.

Liked when Bizarro waved his hands to Clark to take him on.

Very good effects of Clark healing in the sun’s rays.

Clark launching Bizarro into the sky and MM putting him in storage on Mars (which allows him to return).

“Coming from a galaxy far, far away just adds character.”

“But if you ever grab my a$$ again, I will be taking your head with me when I go.”

Very happy to see Lana alive in Shanghai…like the wig. Also, a nice transition using the moon from daytime to nighttime in Smallville.
Ending with a good setup for the Kara episode and Laura, very nice abs.

On the negative, too many commercials – typical of a season premiere and Lex’s line about Lana’s “half awake smile” was just too romance novel.

Plus questions: How many people die at Smallville Medical only to return to life – Martha, Jonathan, Clark and now Chloe? Their confidence must be shot.

What was with the hug between Clark and Chloe…seemed almost romantic?

It was also very interesting that KK is now third in the titles (must have something to do with her holdout) and AM moving ahead of ED.

10/10

This episode was wonderful. The breaking of the dam is one of the coolest things I have ever seen on Smallville. EVER. When Clark busted into the dam to save Lois, Chloe and Kid... it reminded me of when he busted into the garbage smasher to save Ryan in Season One. WONDERFUL. I thought the heat vision was COOL. There were so many super punches and super kicks. Thrilling, thrilling, thrilling. Bizarro was delightful and sexy and feral. I loved watching him soak in kryptonite energy. Electric ecstasy.

They really had me going with Chloe's "death." I had to struggle to hold it together while fast forwarding through the commercial. I would have been a MESS if she'd died. Kara's water ballet was beautiful. Lex's emotional journey this episode didn't seem like a rewind on his character progression and... I don't know why. I guess Kudos to the visual artists behind underwater Kara angel scene... and to Micheal Rosenbaum of course.

My favorite thing about this episode was the marriage of SUPER KICK BUTT ACTION and real gut wrenching emotion. Lois was torn up over Chloe and was also very tender and vulnerable in a lot of this episode. Lex really broke my heart... he was touched to the quick by water angel Kara and Lana's death. Clark was dealing with Lana's death, Chloe's death AND the usual hero stuff he broods over. I just didn't expect the emotional roller coaster ride of this episode. And I loved the ACTION! Yes yes yes yes yes. More more more more more! LOL!

Martian Manhunter is yummy-licious. This might be the best SV premiere ever. Wow.

I'm really digging Chloe's reaction to her power. I'm excited to see how things develop between Chloe and Clark, Chloe and Lois, AND later Chloe and Jimmy.

I don't really care about Kara yet but she's really pretty and powerful and... Laura is doing a great job on the rope work it seems to me so far. I'm not as excited for the next episode as for this one. I'm not really all that enthused about Supergirl but I'm curious about next week. I like Kara's motives seem to be in question.

Love Love Loved it. :)

Yummy Quotes!

Wonder if poor Lionel will wake up with Kathy Bates from Misery. ;)

Enjoyed your review. LOL! :rotfl:

Me too. He was falling apart on the way up towards the sun. Though Chloe did say MM was showing Bizarro the sunny side of Mars. Meh. I figure he's dead and if/when he shows up again it'll be a surprise.

ETA: I laughed at Lana's silly wig but... I really liked the Clana. I'm one of those sappy romantics that looks at the moon and thinks, "that's the same moon so and so is looking at..." Yeah it was sweet. :)

Maybe I'm feeling generous b/c I got a hot Bizois a** grab and a yummy Clois hug.

The amazing thing about watching Smallville -- at least as a lover of Superman -- is that we all get to see Clark grow into our greatest hero of all time. Beyond the generally strong acting, writing, effects, and everything else that makes this show great, there is the occassional hint of Clark's growth that makes me squeal like a little school girl!

Tonight's episode took a huge leap in the growth department right off the bat, when Clark evaporates the entire rush of water without regard for who is watching. He then proudly nods to the kid and speeds off; he became Superman for that split second. Then there was the moment when his super hearing became so great that Chloe's voice came to him.

I think that this will finally be the season when Clark flies, and I personally can't wait for what awaits us all!!

Very Good Episode :)

-Clark saving the father and son from the mad rush of water was great.
-Clark & Bizarro scenes....Seeing two Sexy Toms on my television screen....Yummy! lol Seriously though, Tom did a fantastic job!!!
-Kara floating in the water (It reminded me of "300" oracle scene in the film lol) < which I loved.
-Loved shirtless Bizzarro...for my own superficial reasons lol All I can say is "Looking good Tom"
-Martian Manhunter
-I liked that Bizarro's voice was altered (I was concerned at first because from the Director's Cut I thought nothing different was done to create the Bizzarro character; of him being too similar to RedClark)
-I loved Lana in the blond wig!! I love spy and undercover characters a lot and this was so remenisent of that so I loved it!!!
-KK looked AMAZING. That dress, the make-up, her hair as she took off the wig....Oh My!!!!
-Loved the whole montage at the end.....with Lana looking at the moon in China and Clark looking at the moon in Smallville....very nice.
-Kara looks great....it is still too soon to really tell about her character but she looked good.

- I didn't like that KK was moved in the credits
-Using his heat vision to evaporate the water (seemed too cheesy for me)
-I hope Lex doesn't remain Mr.Goody-two shoes for very long.....I love bad ass Lex much better.
-The special effects were good...I just didn't care for the CGI of Kara on the water tower.....it looked too fake to me.

Overall; Very Good Episode!

10/10. One of the best premieres we've had in a long while.

And unlike others I loved the ending montage with Kelly Clarkson's "Sober" song. I like the part where Lana and Clark looked at the moon. And I'm not a Clana fan.

God, I have no words to describe how perfect this was... I feel like I've been hit by a train, this is just THAT fantastic... I wasn't expecting this level of awesomeness, OMG... I have no words right now. I have to watch it again, then I'll come back to say something. I'm still stunned...  I gave a 10. One of the best Smallville episodes ever, if not THE best.

When I watch shows now (i.e. Heroes and Smallville) I gauge the show on how many times I look at the clock. Let me clarify...if I begin to watch a show and am really getting into it, I never look at the clock. Or when I do, I feel it is much later than it really is.

Example monologue (since I usually watch the show by myself)

Wow, this show is great and really suspenseful! I guess it is almost over.

(look at clock)

HOLY CRAP! I still have 45 minutes left. Awesome!!!!!

______________

Heroes was this for me last year all the time. So much stuff happening that I felt like I was watching a full length movie. Smallville only accomplished this once or twice, and never during a season Premiere. BUT last night Smallville worked it "time displacement" mojo on me. I was so enthralled that I didn't want it to end.

*The Dam break and the fishermen
*Clark losing Lionel and Lionel getting "rescued" by a mysterious man.
*Lex's rescue and encarceration
*Bizarro and all his antics
*Chloe Dead!

There was so much but the show didn't dwell on any of it for an over amount of time. It was perfect...

Until Lana...I really didn't want to see that. I was cool until that pseudo ending.

All in all I gave it a 9.5/10 taking the half off for Lana's blonde wig, which doesn't stand out in Shanghi at all. Who's she hiding from? If Lex isn't looking for her, no one is. I'm sure there are blonde wig burning parties in her favor right now...but I digress.

I can't wait till next week and see Kara and what she's up to.

I loved how evil Bizarro was, because it gave me some truly surprising moments. Burning a guy alive, ripping another guy's heart out, I thought I was watching Supernatural for a minute.

As for the overall episode, I gave it a 9. It was well put together and they really scared me with the "Chloe being pronounced dead" thing.

I had mixing feelings about this season, to a point I was debating to even bother seeing the premier.

I am glad I did.

I was never a big fan of the Bizzaro thing so I am happy that its over, for now at least.
I enjoy the budding mentorship of our favorite Martian and Clark.
I certainly HOPE that, once agin, when Clark says its time to pursue his destiny, that he will.
Of course we have all heard that before...
Don't care much for the addition of "supergirl", just one more person that can do all Clark can be is unwilling to.
Maybe she will be a catalyst of some sort.
Lex...poor Lex.
It was a fine premier, one that seems to be pushing the story in the right direction, we shall see.
I am cautiously optimistic.

It was nice to see Clark use his heat vision to evaporate the water, nice move.

Love Chloe telling him to "get on that" in regards to the flying thing.

The rapport between Clark and Chloe is still the best thing on the show.

Not bad at all.

It's good to be back on the forum after a summer break. On to my thoughts... What few I have anyways :)

I was real skeptical about this season with them adding Supergirl. However, after last night and seeing Clark unleashed (minus flying), I am excited about this season. They started S7 with a bang and it kept me interested all the way through. Hopefully this season will make up for the lackluster season 6.

I am also so glad that Chloe did not stay dead. If she had that might have been it for me and the show. Looking forward to next Thursday where we see Clark and Kara meet for the first time.

Totally agree. I was not expecting Bizarro to burn that guy with his vision and then he ripped out that dude's heart. It's about time this show grew up.

Best Premier for Smallville IMHO. I was kept on the edge of my seat through out the whole thing.

For the poster who asked why Lana is in China its because she faked her death and ran away from Lex.

I wish they bring Pete Ross back for a couple of eps...

Anyway, it was excellent episode and I can't wait for the rest of them!! :D
I didn't mean I don't know why Lana is China, I meant it will be interesting to find out why she is there i.e., how she did it - what exactly happened - we don't know that yet.

Oh and was I the only person who had to rewind and watch it again a few times when Clark went to the dam to fight Bizarro for the last time?

He looked like he flew across the broken bridge - I guess he jumped but it looked more like flying to me!

And yes whoever mentioned about the sun - I thought the same thing. It's never had that much of an effect on Clark before. Zod beat Clark's ass up in broad daylight! And so did that phantom that the martian manhunter killed.

Or does it have to be direct sunlight as in standing in a sun beam
Clark: hold on Phantom, let me just stand over here - NOW try and kick my ass  :rotfl:

I'd give it 9/10

My favorite part was when Lex talked about how Lana was the only thing he was living for. I was really looking for a flashback lexana scene but hopefully that will be coming up in upcoming episodes.

My lease favorite part was the addition of Supergirl. I did like how she appeared like a mystical siren in the water. But for the most part I know she is going to be a stupid character...especially since she is blonde. No offense blonde people. ;)

Overall, it was an entertaining episode, though it had a loose-ends-closing, plotlines-opening feel to it. Essentially, a wrap-up of S6 finale threads and laying the foundation for this season's plots.

I think Lex will see his "divine" rescue as a reason to stay on course, since he now has some sort of blessing to continue. It's fueling the idea that he is "destined" for greatness.

We get yet another pep-talk about Clark getting on with his destiny -- but instead of Jonathan, Jor-El, Milton Fine, etc. making remarks about it, it's MM. I liked the nod to the sun as a source of Clark's strength.

It looks like Clana will still be lingering around, since they saved the revelation that Lana is alive until the end so that she and Clark could share a Clana moment even half a world away. *Awww* or *Ugh*, depending on where you stand. ;)

It was understandable that Clana would be front-and-centre last season, with Lana marrying Clark's arch rival. This season, fortunately, Clark's got a plate-load of things to accomplish (thanks MM for reminding him). Let's hope Clana will be just one (of many) plotlines -- and not the smothering season story arc.

What's involved with Chloe's 'power' ie the Tears of Life will be one of the more intriguing storylines this season. The premiere was essentially a teaser as well for Kara and the usual toying with Clois, which can't materialize on SV for canon reasons. We're left asking: how will Kara affect Smallville?

I'd give it about 7.5.

I loved it!! Loved this episode and hope that this season will be a strong one!
Loved Clark in the beginning telling Bizarro about 'all the people' that he needed to save. Very Supermanish. And when he saved the boy and his Dad, I loved how much he looked like Superman without needing the big 'S' on his chest and a cape on. Way to go Tom!!
The whole cast I thought, did such an amazing job last night. I was totally pulled in. All the characters seem to be growing up, and it is so cool to see episodes like this, I am totally excited for more. :D

I really liked it. I like the tone. It was a shift in the comfort zone. Lana...dead. Lionel missing. Chloe coming to terms with her power. No Ma Kent. Clark really grew up in this episode. He seems ready to step into his destiny. I think the way Lana's death was handled was fine even though we knew she couldn't really be dead. The tone was set for big changes for the characters and I like where this is heading.

I gave it an 8. I loved most of it. Not really enthused about Supergirl but willing to reserve judgment. But her scenes didn't really do anything for me with the exception of saving Lex. The worst part for me was the vaporizing of the water. I don't think an older Superman could have done that, and I just can't reconcile Clark being that powerful with him getting his a$$ handed to him in fights all the time.

It was one of the best episodes of the series and I can see the trend just getting better and better for Season 7.

The last half of season 6 picked up for a year of inconsistent episodes (after reckoning to subteranean were hit and miss imo) and where they left off from an entertaining Phantom comes a brilliant Bizarro.

The fight scenes, where Bizarro Clark had the metal pipe through him, the heat vision to stop the water, the Clark/Lois scene was hilarious, Supergirl, Martian Manhunter, Lana, Clark and Lana looking up at the moon all while Clark is accepting his destiny.

Here is to a great start and hopefully the best season yet.

My biggest issue with Supergirl's introduction is this: I don't really get why they went back to the character at the end of the episode. Saving Lex was a perfect introduction for her, and they kind of spoiled it by showing her looking up at the moon at the same time as Clark (and Lana).

I think the episode was at least a 7/10.

Things I liked:

After seeing Phantom I thought that the Bizarro graphics would be really lame but they actually game out quite well.

Bizarro was done well and dispite the differences from the comic book still I still like him.

I liked the emphasis on the Yellow Sun as the source of Clark's powers which until now has been hinted at or only briefly mentioned.

I'm glad Lana is still alive but I really hope they don't do the whole Clark/Lana starcrossed emotional rollercoster again.

The main thing I like was the fact that Bizarro's appearance wasn't just another mindless dip into the DC comic toybox. Clark actually learned something from his fight with Bizarro, facing his own demons and devoloping the moral code that he will use when he becomes Superman. That is something that they should do more since the purpose of the show is to see Clark on his path to becoming superman.

Things I didn't like:

While overall the fight scenes were entertaining they used just a little to much bullet time.

The Martian Manhunter. I love his character from the comics, and I was really excited when the introduced him in Static last year. However after three full fledged appearances all he's done is kill one phantom off screen. You would think they could give the guy a little more to do then just have long conversations with Clark.

Things we'll have to wait and see:

Supergirls roll in this season.

The strange figure that pulled Lionol out of the water. What was that?

Chole's powers and why she doesn't want to speak with clark about it.

Lex's so called revelations and project 503

One thing that confused me. How exactly would Lex explain his breaking out of prision and the dead lawyer. He couldn't just say oh an alien clone of this local farm boy busted open the cell, killed my lawyer and demanded I give him a buch of meteor rocks. I'm sure they'll just ignore that fact it will never be addressed again but it's still bothering me.

Yeh, I agree!! How did Lex break out of jail?? I thought he was a new person now? How about the fact that Lois doesn't even give Chloe a hug or anything?? Just says "You owe me an explanation!" What's that??? Did they see each other earlier and we didn't see it. She talked more to Clark about their encounter than Chloe coming back to life. Don't get it. Otherwise, I really like the show. Didn't like all the commercials, though. I thought it could have been two hours long since Supernature was coming out next week. Pretty disappointed, but overall liked the show.

Fight isn't long enough, he finishes him off in 1 min...boring.
Some of the scenes are poorly made with computer (Clark coming to stop the water, Lana walking ''on air'' and almost through another person at the end...etc)
The episode just flew by really, it didn't seem like 40 mins to me.
Lex feeling remorseful? Ye right...
Clark thinking that Chloe almost dying has something to do with someone else than Chloe....I mean she has a meteor power and Lois is a proof, i can't believe Clark doesn't see that. Clark's iwanttoknoweverythingplease attitude really annoys me, let Chloe tell you when she's ready.

And the fact that they keep ''reviving'' (if we can call it that) Lex, keeps giving him a feeling of immortality, that isn't too good for a person, he is going to start to believe it soon, if he hasn't already.
Another ''revival'' couldn't have given him good personality, he's been revived a couple of times and nothing has changed.

Lex defending Clark? I Lol'd, in the s6 finale he was calling him a liar and he was always obsessed with him and he wasn't very friendly to him in the last season.

Actually counting the ending credits it was 41.34 minutes ;)

Lex thought he saw an angel, and that perhaps for some reason God had sent her to save him.

They did the same thing with Zod....I think the top villans are vanquished far too quickly when they should last a couple of episodes at least. The worst villans should be harder to beat than the common freak of the week.

The best moment in the episode was the kid at the river seeing Clark save him.

"Bizarro" was a bit threadbare when it came to the newer elements, but I thought it seemed to signify a real turning point for the show, one towards more maturity. I kind of liked that the first twenty minutes had little or no dialogue -- different for Smallville, where everyone seems to wear their hearts on their sleeves. I still don't know why they're shoe-horning in Supergirl / Kara-El (and why the CW refers to her as "Kara Kent" in the write-ups - even if the others know she's Clark's legal cousin, they still also "think" they're not blood-kin), but I guess they have to have something to keep it going. They're even running out of villains and, realistically, the whole point of the show was Superman-in-training / Clark Kent as a teenager in high school, which hasn't been the case for nearly three years now so the creators / writers are kind of forced to abandon the original concept and redefine the structure of the whole series with the aging of the characters.

Anyway, I just hope this does signal the turning point I mention and that the show changes in the way I (and, I suspect, a lot of you) feel that it should and / or has to. If people like myself and others were a bit disappointed with season six (save for the Justice League stuff, which they somehow managed to pull off successfully), I think it's just because they were trying to make that transition to a more mature tone and just hadn't quite gotten the hang of it yet. I think they tried to go a bit too far in the opposite direction, but this season they seem to be starting off with a good balance of the lightness it's always had and the darker elements it inevitably has to embrace. My biggest gripe -- they copped out on Lana's supposed-death. I remember in the spring when the creators were saying, "Someone WILL die" for good, but obviously not. Lana, as a character, has served her function and they should have left well enough alone.

Some of the scenes didn't seem to flow very good. From the Morgue to Chloe's Apartment is a perfect example of this.

But for the most part it was good. I like the fact the clocks and watches were pretty close to being set at the right time.
Time of Death 13:49(1:49pm for those that don't know 24hour time.)
Approx. 2:10pm in the Morgue scene.

Lois' character was written badly. Kelly Souders & Brian Peterson are very poor writers of Lois and I felt right away they would have rather not have had to deal with her.

The Chloe element is interesting. I can't wait to explore that more.

The Lex break-out should be addressed in a later episode, if they want to try and maintain the continuity they attempting to start using last season.

I hope we haven't seen the last of Bizzaro. I don't read spoilers, so I might be missing out here, but that was a wonderful opportunity for Tom Welling to stretch his acting a bit, and fly.

I was hoping the figure that pulled Lionel out of the water is some sort of woman. They might be someone with a grudge against Lionel who wandered into a lucky day. The possibilities are endless.

Overall, it was a pretty good episode. The F/X aren't nearly what they used to be pre-Season 6, but they were good enough.

Loved the episode but I don't agree with people thinking the Clana allusion sucked and those who say they're happy cause Lana was almost not there...
i'm glad Lana is back, no matter what people think, she's Clark's first love and it's great to have her know the secret and explore a new relationship level with Clark. Plus, she's not the nice girl that always dresses in pink anymore...
Clois is meant to be but I like the fact that SV shows us how first loves can be strong even for Superman...
So I loved the last few minutes, they rocked as a whole!!!

There were a couple of flow problems between scenes, it wasn’t seamless story telling. Why Lois would hug Clark first about a dead Lana before running to Chloe and hugging her was a bit bizarre after what she went through.
Also, I think Chloe knows her tears pack a punch; I’m surprise after seeing Lana death certificate she didn’t try to find her in the morgue to save her.

The Supergirl ending scene was a bit cheesy and to quick for her to get clothing acclimated. It would have been fun if she picked clothes that were for girls of a different era. Only because her intel should have been old about earth girls. The way she was dressed it looked like she called Paris Hilton for advice. Next week it’s going to be a mini skirt without the underwear.

I wish they left us hanging about Lana longer. The blond wig and tight dress only screamed, “notice me I am here in China”. She might as well had a big name tag instead of the wig. I would have liked to have seen a woman’s figure in traditional chinese clothes lurking in the shadows. I think that would have made some sense if they were going to spring Lana in this first episode in China.

Not really complaining about the first episode, just some observations. :)

I would have to say that it was one of the top ten episodes. I hope the character of Bizzaro returns, The only disapointment I had was that he was defeated too soon. I think he should have been in it for a couple more episodes.

Bizarro was an amazing season premiere. Not the best, but worthwhile nonetheless. I gave it an 8, b/c some things ended up there that I didn't want (Lana). Also, I thought Kara would see Clark, and not just flying around. But awesome episode regardless, sets the bar for the season.

I gave the epie an 8. It was good, but I think it could have been a little better, especially since, once again, they did cram a lot into one hour. Having MM help out Clark was great to see. As far as Chloe goes, for those who were wondering why she didn't want to talk to Clark or try to save Lana, isn't it obvious? She's in denial, in case you forgot. She did already point out that all of the meteor freaks she's known have either died or gone crazy, so it's the last attribute that she wants to have. My other thoughts: the Bizarro story was interesting to see, Lex isn't going to turn pure evil directly after his wife dies (duh!), Chloe's quick revival obviously was part of her power, so prolonging her death wouldn't have made much sense, and clearly Lana wasn't dead anyway. It was pretty obvious to me, and probably a lot of other people, that she staged the whole thing, so did you really expect her not to return? Overall, since I watched it 3 times last night, I liked it alot. I just hope that the rest of the season doesn't focus too much on Kara and centers more around Clark (because last season it definitely strayed too much).

I gave it an 8. Mostly was pretty good, but it went so freaking fast. :/ Did NOT expect Bizarro to just /die in the first episode.

And the whole clark "woah the sun powers me up, gee thanks mister!" then again in the dam "holy crap the sun is healing these scrapes!" moments were like... wow dude get a clue.

I love the Chloe: "he can fly? Clark you really need to get on that one!" thing, but the morgue scene was disappointing. Expected a lot more material to happen in the morgue.

I *am* proud of clark though for not moping over Lana while he had stuff to do (like save Chloe). TPTB can't stand keeping clana apart forever, so I guess he's gotta do it at the end, but they held off on it for most of the episode. He was *clearly* more torn up about Chloe than Lana. :P

Clark knew the sun powered him up and healed him LONG before this episode, so no, he doesn't need to "get a clue". He was just using it to his advantage after figuring out the sun weakens Bizarro.

As for Bizarro dying, does anyone *really* believe that Bizarro being carried to Mars is the end of him? Seriously?

But how do we know the martian manhunter took him to Mars - and why would he take him there anyway??

I think it would make more sense for MM to toss Bizarro into the sun.

Two reasons, Chloe had a conversation with Clark where she congratulated him on sending "the bobsy twin to the 'sunny side of Mars'". Why would she say that unless MM took him to Mars? The other is, that MM is not powerful enough to just fly Bizarro into the sun, and he's also afraid of fire, no matter what the sun's really made out of, I imagine he'd be scared sh*tless of what looks like a big ball of flame.

I think Chloe's statement was just a figure of speech, she doesn't know what MM did with Bizarro.

I didn't mean MM flew into the sun, I meant he threw Bizarro into the sun so he wouldn't have to had flown that close to it himself.

I'm not sure how taking Bizarro to Mars would accomplish anything. Mars is further away from the sun so surely Bizarro would regain his strength faster there and just fly back to earth? It's a mystery, we don't really know what happened to Bizarro until he makes a comeback.

Then we'll find out whether he broke out of a martian prison or fought his way out of the sun and flew back to earth for a final show down with his better half

There's really no reason for Chloe to use that as a figure of speech, it's not a common or even a used figure of speech. Clark told her what their plan was, simple as that.

clarkbunny

She used it as a figure of speech because she knew the Martian Manhunter had helped Clark to get rid of Bizarro and MM is from Mars. I think it was just another of her witty remarks just like 'bobsy twin' - Bizarro wasn't Clark's twin.

Although in all fairness this is all presumed as we never saw Clark actually tell Chloe that MM helped him or what MM did. All we saw was Clark tell Chloe that he knew someone that would know how to stop Bizarro but he didn't say who.

Perhaps some deleted scenes will illuminate us.

i thought Bizarro was amazing. I've already seen it 3 times. it was neat giving Bizarro a lower distorted voice. i nearly jumped out of my skin in joy after Clark turned the water into steam. and seeing bizarro get smashed into the electrical pole. Bizarro Clark was like a more malicious version of Red K Clark. turning that dude into ash, killing the guy who plays Ballintine of Kyle Xy, and of course we can't forget the classic scene with Lois. there was one thing i didn't get though. wouldn't lois think it was strange that the last time she saw clark he was wearing the red jacket and blue shirt. Then she saw him with the dark Blue jacket and red shirt. I liked Kara's introduction. it's was great that the first time Lex saw her in the water she had this glowing light around her and then after that she flew away. the acting was also tremendous. everyone was in top form. especially Tom. I've acted in shows before where I've had to play Multiple characters. i know how tough it is. he did it flawlessly. the look on his face after bizarro recharged himself with the krypton was great. i also thought it was funny when he was checking out lois' butt. The morgue scene was also great. Tom and Allison acted there tushies off in that scene. Specially after she found lana's death certificate. the looks that they shared with each other were sad. You could tell what chloe and Clark were both thinking in that moment without them saying a word. i also liked seeing MM back. and the end fight was kool. i also really liked how they had all of the characters looking up the sky and it transitioned from one person to the next. i still don;t know who pulled Lionel out. at first it looked like it was lex becuase of the black coat but then i realized it wasn't him. unless it MM I can't wait for next weeks episode

I agree that it was the flow between scenes that was slightly jarring throughout the episode. Maybe if they ordered the scenes differently?

They could have ended the ep. with Clark and Lana looking at the same moon, and it would have been an appropriate ending, or having Clark and MM having their chat. I realize Kara is the big story arc they're plugging, but she had a great first appearance already with Lex's underwater rescue, similar to the Oracle Girl's fever prophecy scene in the movie "300", as someone mentioned previously. I guess they had to spell out at the end: hey everyone, this is Supergirl. She's here! That final Supergirl scene just seemed to be some CW-mandated S7 teaser.

Even MM's motivation speech to Clark is just a variation of what Jonathan, Martha, Jor-El, Milton Fine, Ollie Queen, Chloe, etc. have said in their own way. I guess they have to keep saying it, because Clark keeps 'not' doing it.

Clark getting strength from the sun was a cool scene and I hope those sort of details appear more often as Clark gets closer (hopefully) to his destiny.

I LOVED "Bizarro"! It is still a little puzzling if what I felt was Totally Real since I felt a bit like a starving person who was being fed a small feast after fasting too long. I was queasy And giddy with excitement for the first 20 min. of the episode. I was absolutely Thrilled with almost everything. I was expecting new & exciting things to see and get some answers for other stuff. Smallville-'Bizarro' came through for me. The only negative thing I have to say is that I wish they had waited for a couple of more episodes into season 7 to reveal that Lana was in hiding in China. It would've given more mystery to her story arc, IMO. Now, I'm only looking forward to more 'happy Thursdays' with the gang on Smallville and You Guys.

This was actually a pretty good episode.

I do think that TW is just getting way too old to play the character now though. The guy looks about 5-7 years too old and about 20-30 lbs too heavy to be playing the role of CK.

With that being said, I enjoyed the episode. I loved the references to the yellow sun, as well as Clark's love of humanity. Great interaction with MM as well. Loved the interaction with Bizarro and Lois. The morphing of the face when he saw Lois' ass was priceless.

Thought that TW did a good job with the voice alteration for the role of Bizarro.

Even though I knew Lana would be alive, it still didn't make me any less unhappy. :D

Liked the intro of Supergirl, despite my reservations about the character. I agree that it would have made for an awesome 2 hr premiere to have both Bizzaro and Kara as back to back episodes. It would have helped to expand of the character.

Nice FX too. Especially during the Bizarro/Clark scenes. Really liked when Clark hit Bizarro through the forrest and up through the telephone poles.

Although... Does it bother anyone else that Clark bleeds so damn much on the show? If he faces another Kryptonian or alien enemy he always bleeds. He should have more of a fight on his hands. But he shouldn't be bleeding.

Great stuff with Chloe telling Clark to get on flying.

Overall a very solid 9/10 for me.

* Would have gotten a 10 if it wasn't for Lana still being alive and Lex still not being a full fledged villain. The 2nd chance at life/repenting act is getting as old as an episode with Lex being abducted. It just happens way too damn much.. LOL Like I said, I knew Lana would be alive. But it still sucks they didn't get rid of KK.

*From an editing standpoint, I loved the opening recap of S6. Being an editor myself, I appreciate well edited segments. I especially liked the motion blur transitions, and the freeze frame masking. Great stuff. The Smallville staff has some good editors for their promo/credit work.

That's the thing though. The final season should revolve around Clark and Lex, and how their oposing destinies affect each other. It shouldn't have to do with Lana. Lana takes up too much of the show's focus.

Love it! Can't wait to get to see it a day earlier starting next week! hehehe!

I waited to see the credits after watching the show. So glad the 4 who have been there from the start get top billing! Finally!

Loved Tom Welling. He did well with his two roles. Everyone was great and I really didn't mind the blond Lana though I did wonder if she did that to actually LOOK like an asian hooker! So glad Chloe is back. Loved the morgue scene and Clark gently taking off the toe tag!

Wednesday nights are great for with Smallville than Bionic Woman on afterwards. Though it's going to get really crowded when LOST comes back since I tape Criminal Minds and Little Mosque on the Pairie (The 3 sci-fi shows I;ll record on my computer to burn onto DVD). 2-

- the sound editing was horrible (Chloes' defibrilator, Lois's smack)

- I have no idea what the heck is going on in the entire plot (is Lionel dead? What the heck is Lana doing? Was there a baby? Did Lionel or Lex make up the baby? Does Chloe realize that it was her meteor power? Did Lois like the butt grab? Who the heck is this Martian Manhunter guy and what is he doing there?, etc.)

-horrible story- Clark beat Bizarro way to easy, Lex is...? I don't even know, Lana in China, Lois is oblivious to the fact that Clark broke through a wall...

aka 2/10. that's an F. worst premiere ever imo.

I thought this season premiere was great. The fights seemed pretty damn good & I don't think that Bizarro was beaten too easily because all of that was explained earlier in the episode. Bizarro becomes weaker from being exposed to direct sunlight while Clark becomes substantially stronger which is why he was able to punch him so hard. Then, MM came in & took him to the sunny side of Mars but Bizarro is supposed to return in episode eight so everything went perfectly.

It'll be a good question to answer in weeks to come, but I've got to say I think it says something about her character right off the bat. Although I will go on and on about Clark's upbringing making him who he is, it *does* seem that they're making the superheroics run in the family a little bit. I think it just goes to show that the El family were good people in general and she had a good upbringing too, even though we're going to be under the mistaken impression that Zor-El wasn't a very great guy at least for part of the season.

First I have to say that I pretty much hated Season 6. There were some good spots (Justice comes to mind) but on the whole I was very angry and disappointed. I've been seriously thinking about dropping SV.

But all that changed, thanks to Bizarro, which in my opinion, is the best SV episode we've had in a long, long time.

Action, adventure, intrigue, romance (sorta), the mythos and Clark actually finally acting like friggin' Superman all combined to make this one of the most interesting and captivating episodes I've seen in a while.

I was shouting at my tv (a sign that I am really into the show), which I haven't done for SV in ages! I wasn't flipping during commercials for fear of missing something good. And at hte end, I was disappointed that it was over.

All good signs.

I'm excited to be watching Smallville again....and that's saying something.

Found it today, watched it and I think it was excellent overall, for many of the same reasons that others have mentioned. I was not disappointed or embarrassed to have watched it. If the season continues along this quality line, the series may have finally hit it's stride and maybe just in time to go out with a bang not a whimper.

(didn't the spoilers say that Bizarro kissed lois and she kind of liked it? If so, I didn't see any such kiss in the episode that I watched).

Nice start to the season. Since Michael has stated this will be his last season perhaps that explains his move up in the credits. Hopefully Allison's move up doesn't mean the same thing, because Chloe makes the show gel as far as I'm concerned.

I appreciate these boards because I pick up on things I might have missed-like Reeves dam. I also thought Kara's putting on the bracelet and her stance was a call out to Wonder Woman but more like "this is the best we can do since we cannot work it out to have the character of Wonder woman on the show" which in that regard was a courtesy to fans. I do think they try to please us but often fall short because they don't really see eye to eye with us on it.

I hope the entire budget for special effects wasn't spent on this episode though, because I like to have a little in every episode rather than one with it all. Pretty spectacular collection of them I thought and well done also.

Lana's wig just went along with the poor way her character has been treated from the start. She fakes her death because she is terrified of what Lex might do and then wears a too-blonde even for a blonde wig in Shanghi (sp-sorry) where the populace is almost totally brunette! As much as I know the writers favor Lana, I'd hate to see what they did to a character they hated. It makes Lana look dumber than the stereotypic dumb blonde. Ugh! Further it increases the wonder that Clark could be so big, dumb alien for her when Chloe is so sharp, loyal, and lovely.

Chloe's morgue scene was so incredibly well done.
Her comment that Clark needed to work on flying if Bizarro had the edge over him in that regard was perfect. Lois' scene with Bizarro was classic. That is a triangle that works to move the story along and keep the humor without the soap opera...Chloe, Clark, Lois. I like the Smallville incarnation of Bizarro better than in the comics.

I'd love to see a plausible storyline using Martian Manhunter as more than a Deus Ex Machina (escape hatch) for Clark. Once I realized what a comic fan Phil Morris was, I have been rooting for his inclusion in the series more and more. You can tell he takes the part seriously and gives it his best. That needs to be rewarded.

Missed Ma Kent though, but I guess I'll get used to it in time. Missed Jonathan a lot after his departure but time healed it. Just seemed like she should have been there to encourage Clark after all his turmoil.

Lex's salvation again from the water by Kara was like rebooting the series again. The parallel nature of his rescue was inventive and I enjoyed it. I loved his thinking Kara was an angel and feeling the error of his ways there for a while. It was touching and well acted. I'm holding out the faint hope that Michael will reconsider if the series goes another year beyond his seventh. He brings so much to the series when he is utilized well and his character is not brooding over Lana.

I was disturbed by Kara's wardrobe change and would have preferred for that to have been the source of some episodic humor. Kara would not have needed to know what was in style and it would have been funny for Clark to have dressed her in his mother's clothes until Chloe &/or Lois came to her rescue with some fashionable duds. Oh well, just a thought.

Enjoyed the episode and am looking forward to the next show.

I thought it was amazing. All in all it turned out to be my favorite season premiere to date. It was the most structured and well-put together episode we've had in a long time. And the ending to the episode blew me away. The Montage with Kelly Clarkson's "Sober" fit perfectly.

I love the moment when Lana pulls off the blonde wig and looks up toward the moon. The transition from daytime to nightfall in Smallville gave me chills. And that's coming from a Non-Clana fan. I actually was happy to see Lana alive in kicking.

Chloe's morgue scene was really fantastic. And I have to agree I love the chemistry between Clark/Chloe/Lois. It is great humor and not like the Clark/Lana/Chloe weirdness.

Also, one highlight, Bizarro grabbing some Lois. ;)

I don't think you're even close on this one. Super battles, people coming back from the dead, the arrival of another Kryptonian, these are all definitely things for season premieres and finales, not mid-season episodes. Of course it wasn't all action, no episode of Smallville ever was or ever will be all action, because that makes for pretty boring TV.

Super battles, people coming back from the dead, the arrival of another Kryptonian, these are all definitely things for season premieres and finales, not mid-season episodes. Of course it wasn't all action, no episode of Smallville ever was or ever will be all action, because that makes for pretty boring TV.
Agreed! So much happened. And for once it wasn't all wrapped up in one episode.

I loved this episode so much. Just a few reasons:
(1) Clark using his heat vision to stop the flood when the dam burst. How awesome was that! All the Bizarro fight sequences were neat too.

(2) Clark sticking up for himself in the first encounter with MM and saying what he does to save people is not a mistake or a weakness - he's tired of the Jor-El you can't do anything right crap and he's not going to take it anymore.

(3) sunlight! I think they should have given it a special guest star credit since it was so pivotal to the plot

(4) Bizarro! so sexy with Lois, but so utterly lacking in morality. So much the anti-Clark. And ultimately, defeated by his own lust for power: he would have had Clark dead and buried with all Lex's green K about, but he couldn't resist the urge to absorb that power into himself, thus ultimately protecting Clark. And Clark's realization that as strong as Bizarro was, he always has the sun to use to ramp up his power.

(5) Lex's redemption - it won't last long of course, but the Lex of the comics is capable of great acts when the circumstances align, and I was glad that Lex didn't give into Bizarro's temptations.

(6) the mystery of the missing model 503, which I assume ties in with the "death" of Lana and Lionel getting dragged away by a stranger.

(7) the mystery of what happened between Chloe and Lois. The mystery is from their POV, since WE know what happened. But Lois and Chloe need to find out for themselves.

On the down side, Kara's arrival hasn't interested me so far, but we'll see what they do for her.

In conclusion, is Clark really no longer going to try to be what he's not (human)? Good luck with that: I can see a great potential this season for Clark trying to reconcile what he will learn from Kara and the Fortress about his Kryptonian heritage, with the very real part of him that IS human because of his upbringing.

Gave it a 9. the Clark/Bizarro fight was great( the way Clark sat in the sun and absorbed its rays was fantastic). Clark stopping the rushing river. The only downside was Lana in the wig.

Great review! Especially about Bizarro and the GreenK and Chloe and Lois having to discover the truth of what happened in the dam while we the audience already know.

While Clark did tell MM that he is no longer apologizing for having human instincts -- MM accepted it, but also cautioned that he is going against a foe without scruples, without remorse. Clark has both, and MM indicated that it could be a weakness as well. MM was laying out the facts before him ie you have human traits, and there are those who will try to exploit them. Clark made his views known, and MM basically told him to proceed with caution nonetheless.

On another front, I also agree that there absolutely must be some distance between Clark and Lana, both for her sake and especially for Clark's. After the 'mother of all love triangles' -- Clexana -- it is time for set that line of demarcation between Clark and Lex re: their destinies. That should be the overarching theme of this entire season. It should have been the prime one for the series, but ask Adam Knight, Jason Teague and the rest of Lana's suitors how well they stuck to that over six years.

MM and Clark's speech will have more resonance if Clark takes the advice and applies it to his life. He's been "advised" ad infinitum for over six years: Jor-El, JK, Chloe, Ollie Queen, MM and even Milton Fine and Lionel in their own way; hearing advice is meaningless if he doesn't apply it effectively.

This is the season I expect Clark to weigh all of that advice and use it. The 'he's too young, it's too early, he's still learning' alibis that have been used to explain his reluctance may have rung true in earlier seasons, but not in S7.

He's had six years' worth of advice, triumphs and mistakes. It is time for CK to act. While I don't expect him -- or even want him -- to put on a red cape and S-shield this year, I do expect him to at least resemble the man who will one day deserve to wear it.

I liked it! Tom's performance was terrific, he is one of the most underated actors on TV right now.

I agree with another that wrote it should of been a 2 hr combined with this upcoming weeks episode, the lack of info on Kara was odd, we only know whats coming cuz we are internet geeks.

It annoyed me to see all other shows on TV get all this hype, actors on talk shows, etc... and hardly anything with Smallville mentioned. This show will have more of a fanbase if people simply discovered it. Look at Heroes - its so much like Smallville and its so much more popular... Come on CW hype up the show that is keeping you floating!

It had all the ingredients for a great episode but somehow it didn't quite get there and i don't know why. I was quite underwhelmed over all.

I think it was a combination of things such as some quite poor special effects imho and some poor acting, poorer than usual lol.

I'm glad they showed Chloe and Clark properly grieving Lana's 'death' whereas I feel they would have skimmed over that last season.

And i'm not pleased with how easily Clark got rid of Bizarro. I mean with one superpunch, not the sunlight thing.

They did increase his power rather quickly in that episode.
I am not saying it is a bad thing, lord knows I want Clark to become more "super".
One punch that knocked Bizarro through the concrete roof and up into the clouds was kind of intense.

Maybe "sunny side of Mars" was an expression. How owuld she know where MM took Bizarro? Was she tracking him? Seriously guy, get off your "mr know-it-all" horse. We have no idea where MM took him. Maybe MM will tell Clark later on but for now we don't.

Lex in jail-he'll probably pull an OJ.
Lois telling Clarke he'd better not grab her a** again ahd his shocked expression--loved it!!

I was thinking the same thing about Michael moving up in the credits! I agree with like everything you said. I thought the scene with Lex being rescued from a car in the water again, was a very cool idea! I also like the humorous Lois/Clark moments! I loved this episode!

I loved when Clark used his heat vision on the flood of water. Then the little kid said, "wooooo": so cute....

I also loved the Chloe/Clark scene in the morgue.

I'm happy that Lana is free from Lex, but a BLONDE wig... come on... she should've just been herself. China does have a lot of ppl in it.

I liked when Clark and Lana looked at the moon during different times of the day.

Kara seems like she will be a nice person, after all she did save Lex. I loved how Lex gets saved from a car in the water, AGAIN. lol.

I don't understand how Clark got Lois and Chloe out of the building/dam thingy without Lois being suspicious of his powers.

I'm really glad that Lex was going to hurt Bizarro Clark and stood up for the (real) Clark.

I have to admit that after watching the episode the first time, I did not realize that the Martian Manhunter was the "red" blur shooting with Bizarro Clark into the sky.... :( Later, I realized it...

I'm kinda disappointed that Jimmy wasn't in this eppy in some way...

Does anybody know who took Lionel?!?!?!

I loved all of the Lois/Clark moments... As always they were enjoyable and humorous.

That's about all I can say about this episode.

10/10 Amazing episode!

The Cheers:

- Clark and Bizarro fights
- Clark using his heat rays in a totally awesome way and the difference with
- Bizarro using the same heat ray to barbecue some poor fellow
- Chloe dying (i'm a sucker for drama)
- Chloe coming back to life (i'm also a sucker for happy endings)
- Bizarro slapping Lois' ass!!!
- The look on Clarks face when she tells him about it. I swear: it wasn't only shock and surprise, there was something in his eyeslike he almost wished he had done it instead of Bizarro
- Lex not running away. That's typical Lex, always believeing he's doing the right thing, no matter the consequences and always believeing that with his power and money he can get out of anything.
- Supergirl. Just loved her immediately.
- Chloe telling Clark he should get on the flying thing.
- Clark standing up to MM and telling him he's proud of his human emotions.
- Lionel being pulled away by some mysterious dude. I love mysteries.

The Booooooooo

- Why is Clark at the end doubting his human emotions again. "Oow, maybe I could be like him. There could be evil in me". No you couldnt. We've watched you for over six years now. Trust us. Clark Kent can't be bad.
- They did put a lot of storylines in this episode. Couldnt' they have waited with Chloe until Episode two or with Lana until episode three (I'll get back on the wig later)
- And what ever happened to Martha? What? They we're obviously on a roll. Couldn't they have crammed a minute with Martha in it?
- I kinda expected Bizarro to remain distorted, but than again than he couldn't have slapped lois' ass like that, so no biggie
- Lana and the wig. What an awful awful wig. Even Paris Hilton ain't that blonde. Why a wig? wouldn't a hat or a shawl be better. I recognised here with a wig. So would Lex and Clark and anybody else on smallville. A big hat or a shawl or anything else would have been better than a wig. And you know: they should have waited. Or maybe just show her from behind. And if they really really really wanted to use a wig, than at the end she just could have pulled of the wig and we still only would've gotten to see her back. We're not dumb. We would have figured out that it had to be Lana anyway but than at least we could have had some nice discussions about it her on the forum.

Anyway the cramming and the wig made this episode a 9 instead of a 10.

That was the proverbial 'nail in the coffin' for me. I didn't love the episode, and having him need to be in the sun made no real sense. They explained Bizzaro needed to be out of the sun, the sun makes him weaker, however, It was massively cheesy.

not to mention how his heat vision suddenly became WAY more powerful. I mean, we've never seen it like that before.

It was like "hey Supergirl is coming and she has these wicked cool powers and we better step up Clark's or he'll look like a loser next to a girl!" or something.

Also would have been nice if they'd remembered to have him use his super breath to blow away the super hot steam he created... Its a shame how that kid and his dad were burned to death... oh wait, they over looked that part.

I was really expecting the worst for this episode especially since season 6 was really disappointing to me. I also was not really excited for season 7 and actually forgot it was starting until the day it began. Anyway now that have said that, I must admit that this episode was way better than I expected, it was all around impressive. The things I really enjoyed was how they mentioned more of the yellow sun being Clark's strength and Bizarro's weakness. I also like how Clark is more heroic so far this season. The scene when he used his heat vision to evaporate the river and then turned to the kid and smiled was so fricken awesome! I think season 7 is off to an explosive start! However, it is unfortunate that Lana is still alive but I knew she was not dead anyway so it did not come as a big shock to me when they showed her at the end of the episode.

haha some of your comments are hilarious!
Tbh i didn't really see this episode as spectacular. Yes there were very cool moments: such as the chloe story and the bizarro, clark fights and well kara and the bizarro/lois bit! but I found lil things which bugged me throughout the show.

examples
-was it just me or was the acting a little mediocre? Even though I know the acting is sometimes bad this episode seemed to have especially poor acting.
-also the special effects seemed a lil ...how do i put it.. shite imo. yes there were many..more than usual but they didn't really do anything for me.
-yes you've mostly all mentioned Lana's wig and apperance at the end in china. i did think it was a lil odd to put her in such a 'stand out' wig when she's meant to be inconspicuous. but i also thought it was weird that she would take the wig off and then stare out her window so anyone who cared could look and see her. anyway it was a bad choice but i think she pulls off blond rather well. :)
i also agree might have made better viewing if they left lana's appearance for a later viewing..to keep the suspense and all. i mean i was actually thinking lana just may actually be dead! [to those who this shocks i don't read spoilers] but yeah all suspense is basically gone. :(
i gav this episode 5 because i thought it was ok not great not bad. middle.
