From nerd to spy... this is going to be on NBC Mondays before Heroes. What does everyone think of Chuck's prospects?

ILuvLoVe

well being a nerd myself:lol:...I do want to see it. I saw the previews and they look pretty funny so I will check it out.

I was excited about Reaper, but this kind of had a similar feel to Reaper, but did it way better.

I feel the balance between action and comedy was way unbalanced in Reaper, but this show had it perfect. Just hilarious.

MidgardDragon
08-12-2007, 05:34 PM
I've seen both the Chuck and Reaper pilots, and let me assure you, Chuck is way way better at the action-humor genre then Reaper could ever dream of being. If the following episodes are the same quality or better than the pilot, then we're in for a treat. And can I just say THANK GOD for something besides Deal or No Deal to watch before Heroes!

ETA: Also, the part where the spy girl was getting dressed: one of the hottest non-pornographic non-nudity scenes I've seen in quite some time.

AMEN! to that. ;) Saw a few ad's for Chuck...it looks pretty good. I like the "loveable loser, turned hero" stories. So I'll be looking forward to this one.

Heh, I liked Deal or No Deal but I'm really excited about Chuck.

Gosh, Monday is getting jam-packed! Heroes, Chuck, 24, Prison Break. This is why I should invest in a Tivo.

MidgardDragon
08-18-2007, 02:29 PM
Don't forget about Journeyman, that looks like it has major potential if they don't screw it up. I'll be sticking to Chuck, Heroes, and Journeyman, probably. Never cared for 24 or Prison Break.

Shadowlord367
08-19-2007, 04:52 PM
NBC man, eh?

Oh your right I did forget about Journeyman, thats looking good too. With Bionic Woman on Wednsedays, NBC's got quite the fall lineup.

Anyways, back to Chuck, who was everyone's favorite character? I didn't find any of them dislikable, I really liked Chuck and the female lead.

superhippie2000
08-19-2007, 04:56 PM
I may give it a chance. looks pretty funny. There is something about it that remind me of Kim possible. a kick ass crime fighting girl and a slacker dim witted guy.

MidgardDragon
08-19-2007, 05:07 PM
Chuck and the female lead are definitely my favorite. The other (male) spy I didn't care for. I like Chuck's Nerd Herd co-worker (the one standing there when he's saying "Vicki Vale").

This show looks pretty good. I'll def. watch at least the first few eps. to see if I like it.

In fact, I'll be watching the entire Monday night NBC line-up. :D

As for how well the show will do, the critics seem to love it, but that's not always a good thing. I predict it'll at least be a moderate hit.

MidgardDragon

Chuck intrigues me. I can't wait for Scrubs to come back.

Bionic Woman, not so much. If at all.

MidgardDragon
09-04-2007, 01:35 PM
I'm missing my Scrubs fix too. But no reason to knock Bionic Woman, even those of us that have seen it haven't seen past the pilot, which is impossible to judge pretty much any show by.

Mello Penelo

I didn't knock it. I just said it didn't interest me.

Okay, so I guess I'll at least give Chuck a watch.
I don't know if I'm a fan of the nerdy type humor. It may win me over though, who knows?
I'm getting ready to watch it now, so I'll go into it with a clean slate, & we'll see.
I'll let you guys know in a little bit.

R.G. :)

MidgardDragon

There's nerdy humor (Monty Python) then there's humor about nerdy people (JD on Scrubs, for example, although more of a geek than a nerd in that instance).

Whoa.... Another winner! I absolutely loved Chuck. http://img100.imageshack.us/img100/2245/woooo1jk.gif

Everything about it was entertaining. Not at all what I had pictured in my head.
The "Nerd Herd" (Geek Squad) guys worked at "Buy More" hmmm.....that wouldn't be "Best Buy" now would it? I loved the "Large Mart" thing too. Never anyone around when you need help at those places. :rotfl:
I liked Chuck's best friend. They played well together.

Well, this pretty much takes up my whole Monday night now.
Chuck, Heroes, Journeyman.... I'll be as happy as a pig in sh .... uhhh ....."slop." :D

STFanatic

I just watched the pilot.

I loved it, humor, action, a sprinkling of romance, a spoonful of drama, a good measure of sci-fi, shaken well and poured into an hour of entertainment.

"Don't freak out"

Randy G.
09-10-2007, 09:41 AM
Monday nights are gonna' be so action-packed now, I'll have to turn the phones off for 3 hours or more. LMAO! :rotfl:
Of course I'm saying "or more," to include my extra time discussing the shows here in the forums.

You tell people not to call during your shows, but for some reason, they forget and do it anyway.
Sooooo .... I just turn the phones off, & that's THAT.

But, I was pleasently surprised, it kicked butt :D

j03superbat
09-12-2007, 05:48 AM
On paper it sounds like a great show, or at least one that I would like. But from the preview I just didn't see anything original or funny (the stoned guys watching the Nerd Herd car pass them? That's funny to people?).

I might get around to watching the Pilot. It can't be worse than the ones I saw for some of these other new shows.

Main character does look likable. Kind of reminds me of Dane Cook.

MidgardDragon

That getting dressed scenes is one of the sexiest things I've seen in a while. When a woman putting on her clothes is sexier then most women taking off their clothes, you know there's something awesome about her.

What surprised me most, is that it's an idea from McG. Very fast paced, but a nice mixture of characters. Captain awesome and chuck's sister were prettoy cool as well. It'll be interesting toas see.the story develop and find out why bryce went rogue.

ya a second story drop would be a lot worse then falling off a shelf lol.

also another thing about that is if the computer broke the CIA still could have used it. I mean if the CIA is all high tech and stuff they could have done something with the mother board to exract the information. it didnt look to me like it was shattered in a gazillion pieces.

I watched the premiere having no info whatsoever on the show and loved it. The cast is fantastic. How can you not love a show where Adam Baldwin can revel in being a royal pain in the ass?

The cast is wonderfully refreshing too - it's nice seeing a lead who's charming and engaging in a very non-traditional way.

I can see that this show has lots of potential and is a GREAT lead-in for HEROES.

Pretty cool episode. Only problem really is that Chucks sister was way to accepting of Sarah. They just met and she already knows Sarah is the right one for Chuck? Nah don't buy it. I expected alittle more drama between the two.

I agree. She was the overbearing sister who thought Chuck was too much of a loner (and that his one friend was a dumba**) so she was just glad to see him with someone intelligent and good looking.

I really liked tonight's episode. Better than the pilot, actually.

This show is really good. It has a nice blend of Alias and Get Smart.

Mello Penelo
10-02-2007, 09:54 AM
Now that I'm not truly exhausted, I'll elaborate on my thoughts.

The episode started out with too much back and forth. That's what made me dislike the first half of the episode. Did Sarah do it? Did she not? It was monotonous. And could have been done better.

Next, what I call the second act, was dinner. The scene seemed forced. There was no flow. Chuck was afraid of Sarah (with what I believe good reason) and the whole scene was like one big stutter.

In the first 40 minutes, you could have summed it all up with Chuck needed to talk to Sarah. And he didn't.

Now, what I liked about the episode was the last act. With the helicopter. When you found out it was the doctor, the story really picked up. I loved this part. With the helicopter. Very nicely done. "I'm playing a video game. A big scary video game." Haha.

Then, the deneument. Bryce's funeral. It was nicely done. I like scenes with talking, then skip to the future, while still talking.

And what do they mean about six months until the new program is on-line? "You'll do what you do best." I can't wait to find out what happens!

Pretty good episode. I hope the next is as strong as the pilot. I'm really hoping it isn't one of these shows where the pilot is strong, but they don't know what to do with the rest of the show. That would really make me sad.

I gave the pilot an 8/10. "Chuck Versus the Helicopter" gets a 6/10.

Loved it. Wished Chuck and Sarah had kissed. I really hope they're as in to each other as they seem to be.

Also, the theme music they used was "Short Skirt, Long Jacket" by Cake. Did they use that for the opening last week? I didn't notice it then and that's one of my favorite Cake songs so I should've.

I hope they never kiss. Sarah is bad news. She's going to sell out Chuck the first chance she gets. She'll kill him if she wants. He can't trust her, so he needs to stay as far away from her as possible. Chuck's only ally is John Casey.

I agree, Sarah has proven herself to be one of the heroes of this story. Hell that's what the entire second episode was about, her proving that she could be trusted. I think we've even seen that the other guy can be trusted at this point, his methods are just more extreme and less covert than Sarah's.

I think there's a possibility of that. The other possibility I think is that they'll give chuck the assistant manager's position so he can get away with doing a little more spy training.

Personally I hope he doesn't get the promotion, as it's the nerd herd thing that makes him interesting in a way to me.

First of all - I love this show. It's my favorite new show this season.

Do you really think they will put Chuck and Sarah into a relationship? (Suck? = Sarah/chuck) I think it will be the sexual tension between the two that will keep the show going season after season. Many shows have learned to their dismay that it is sexual tension that keeps America watching and when that goes away so do your viewers.

 I love Suck as the ship name! It adds to the humor of the show. I think toward the very end of the season we may see some sparks. But they don't want to go the whole way. They will want to play on that tension for as long as they can.

I mean Smallville played on Clana's sexual tension for 5 seasons, One Tree Hill's Leyton for 4 years, etc...

As soon as you get that stupid notion that Sarah is going to hurt Chuck then I'll stop doing it. It's totally illogical to think that. She and Chuck are the stars of the show. the sexual tension is what keeps us coming back. Do you actually think that the writers are that dumb to have the star of the show turn on the other star? Get real!

The only reason you trust Sarah is because she's got breasts. Every female spy who's been on the show has been rogue. Sarah is pretty close to it because of her connection to the case.

Besides, she's still in love with a dead guy. She doesn't like Chuck.

And this is television. The moment they get together, the ratings drop. Like Scrubs. Which is why JD and Elliott are always so screwed up.

Things will go bad between them. And soon. Because that's how television works. And also because Sarah is a femme fatale. She will sell him out. And the ratings will go through the roof to see how it gets resolved.

I thought this was a good episode. That was so nice of Chuck's sis to help Morgan out, by buying stuff. One of my friends asked, "Hey, where's Captain Awesome?" Morgan's trying to put the moves on his girlfriend.

Chuck: Is that a water gun?
Lazlo: No.
Chuck: I'm pretty sure it's dripping on my face.

Nope. Every guy is allowed 1 (one) guy they're allowed to be completely open towards. This does not however include kissing, spooning or holding hands. Hugs must also be limited to no more than ten seconds. Only then is it gay.

Plenty of Captain Awesome to make up for last week. I like how he was "Awesomizing" Morgan.

A closed mind isn't what this is about. That scene was just really, really gay.

I have no problem with gay people, but I can't see how anyone can defend the way they acted toward each other as even remotely heterosexual.

I have a theory. I think awesome isn't actually a cast member. I think he's actually a really really awesome set caretaker, who comes on set when he thinks he can add some awesomeness, does his thing and then flies off to save kittens in trees once he's refilled the coffee pot. Because that's how awesome he is.

So glad theres a little thread for Chuck at kryptonsite!! I came here in hopes of some fan fiction writers in here, but no such luck =/ Theres only a few stories out there right now so I'm sad :(

I'd like to say first off, this show is my new favorite show! So cute, funny, and a good blend of action with OC style filming (slowing down/speeding up during action scenes).

Every character brings a great element to the show and I haven't found one that I don't like yet. Chuck/Sarah (Suck, LOL you guys XD!!!) is most definatly my favorite part of the show and there is definatly some tension there. Kasey is hilarious because one, he's insane LOL! And two, the fact that a trained NSA killer is working as a salesmen at a Buy More is friggin hilarious XD

Chuck is adorable and has a Jim Halpert vibe to him, but with a bigger nerdiness. The gorgous Sarah is a believable character IMO. Beautiful and yet deadly :D The actress who plays her really has an american accent down (she's austrailian I believe).

Yeah I would just like to say that to Mello Penelo, although I do think that there will have to be something that will keep Chuck and Sarah apart, I don't think she is this "femme" as you called her like 700 times throughout this thread. She most definatly cares about Chuck, and its really obvious through all the looks she gives to him. The end of "Chuck vs. the Wookie" when she said "Lisa... my middle name is Lisa..." quietly to herself because she couldn't bring herself to tell him was really sad. She's obviously still broken up about Bryce so she probably doesn't want to get personal with people she works with again. Also she is supposed to be very secretive, its her job (as Karina said in the same episode). I agree with the idea that both Kasey and Sarah will become attached enough to Chuck that they will protect him even if they're orders are to do otherwise and I think that that would be a good storyline in the future.

Chuck/Morgan being gay. Ok, the scene at the end of "Chuck vs. the Sandworm" was a nod to all the OC fans because for those of you who didn't know, Josh Shwartz who wrote the OC also writes Chuck :) The whole scene between Chuck and Morgan was a comedic take on the scene between Ryan and Marissa http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gToovjDtElU . For those of you who haven't seen that it might seem really gay, but all the OC fans were laughing really hard (including me :D) LOL.

Well thats my two cents, I'm very excited for monday's episode!!! I'm a little concerned about the strike affecting Chuck :( We'll see how that unfolds.
