So I was a die-hard Smallville fan for the first couple of seasons...but then I stopped watching...I'm trying to get back into it now but I don't remember where I have to start.

The last episode I saw I THINK was a season finale...there was a montage of scenes where various character's fates were left up in the air...the one I remember clearly was Chloe in some sort of an explosion.

Can anyone help me out and tell me what season finale this was and where I need to pick it up? I thought it was maybe season 3, but none of the synopses I have read describe this scenario.

Thanks in advance...and I apologize if I posted this in the wrong area...it's my first posting here!

That sounds like the finale of Season 3 "Covenant" Clark gets sucked into the wall of the cave, by Jor-El, Chloe enters a safe house that explodes, Lionel gets his head shaved in Prison and Lana leaves for Paris. Does that sound like it? The finale of Season 2 "Exodus" ends with Clark (on Red K) riding a Harley towards Metropolis. Enjoy getting caught up! It's worth it! 7th Season starts Sept. 27, '07 on the CW.
The 4th Season finale (don't want to spoil it, if you haven't seen it yet) "Commencement" They graduate High School, and there is a storyline about Crystals and witches? Sound familiar? If not, you're in for a strange and fun ride in Season 4.

YES! That sounds like it! THANK YOU :-) I have been following some gossip for the past couple of years so I know some things I probably shouldn't know...but it will be fun. I just finished watching all 7 seasons of Buffy and 5 of Angel...so I need a new series on DVD to watch :-)

Thanks again!

You're welcome! It's a pleasure to support this quality show. The more Smallville fans, the better. This Season 3 thread may help refresh your memory, before watching Season 4.

Just don't forget, even during the worst episodes of Season 4, it gets better. At least half of the episodes of Season 4 are worth watching, but you might lose faith during some of the worst ones. Just remember that Season 5 and 6 rock and you should stick with it.
